  1. I enjoyed it as well. Watched a British movie last night, Bank of Dave, enjoyed that too.
  2. Not quite Chivas. I've tried Surfshark, Express and another VPN whose name escapes me, but some years ago someone on here recommended Browsec so I tried it and imo their premium service is at least as good as anything out there and they are probably the cheapest on the market. Their customer service is also second to none.
  3. Well, I finished it, but I have to say that it was a bit of an effort. There was a point when I felt that the writer was asking too much of the viewers' imagination, but by then I was hooked and had to see it through. The ending was fine, but the whole thing was maybe a bit too long.
  4. Glad you enjoyed it xylo. Did you know that the writer, Richard Curtis, also wrote Love Actually, Notting Hill, Four Weddings.......and The Boat that Rocks, all really good movies.
  5. I too can transfer sterling whenever I like and Wise uses the commercial rate, which is far better than BB's rates. There is no receiving fee either. Next time you change currency, I suggest you have a look at what you would have saved with Wise, I reckon you'll have a big surprise.
  6. I am a Brit living in Thailand and my UK pension is paid into a British bank account, which I have maintained and I bank with the Bangkok Bank in Thailand. I transfer sterling to WISE, who then transfer Thai baht to my account in Thailand at very good exchange rates and charge minimum fees. Check out their website at wise.com.
  7. Yes, I've watched it twice and will probably watch it again. Enjoy.
  8. A reminder to those of you who haven't yet watched Outrageous Fortune, it's definitely the best series to have come out of New Zealand and I was gutted, when it finally came to an end and I found that there will be no more. There are a couple of websites that host all 6 seasons and if you can't find them let me know.
  9. I'm going to watch that xylo, good revues on IMDB as well.
  10. For Bill Nighy fans, Page Eight might have gone under your radar, mine too, but I just watched it and I really enjoyed it. About Time is another of his best movies if you haven't seen it.
  11. Yes, there are still a few locals, here in KP, who don't exploit tourists, but I've also heard of foreigners sub letting cheaper properties and it wont take long for the Thais to cotton on. Good luck with your hunting next year.
  12. Unfortunately he sold out to ghost writers in later years and I gave up reading their garbage some years back..
  13. Prices have tripled, at least, during the last 10 years. Israelis and Russians have been buying, building and renting decent properties on the Island and prices have shot up. Before you book anything, make sure that the property has access to year round water, as lack of rain in Koh Phangan and Samui, along with a virtual non existence of planning permission for new properties is creating a MAJOR problem.
  14. I watched The Valet (2022) yesterday evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well acted, funny, sad and above all entertaining.
  15. Most of the stuff I watch is recommended by the IMDB users, as is Lost and according to the majority it's worth watching to the end. I've just finished Season 4 and I'll try and remember to give you the heads up when i get to the end.
  16. I don't know about the rest of you, but I love a series that is binge worthy and LOST is just that. Gone are the days when you couldn't go out on Monday or Tuesday because your favourite show was on the box, Now, you can catch up when you like. Some of you will have seen LOST as it finished in 2010, but if like me it went under your radar, do yourself a favour and give it a try. You will know almost immediately whether or not it's for you. Me, I've already watched more than half of the 121 episodes and I'm really enjoying the series.
  17. Yes, very sad, especially being all young people. What I can't understand is that very little that goes on in KP gets in the press. When I came here 11 years ago, I was told that more than 100 people died in MC accidents per year on KP, and I've heard of some terrible examples. It makes me wonder if that kind of news is deliberately suppressed.
  18. Just to update those of you still interested, it seems that there were 7 fatalities, including the reckless driver, who, being Burmese, probably had neither driving license nor insurance. The brand new pickup is owned by a building firm owned by a well known lawyer, who no doubt will not be held criminally accountable for allowing her overloaded pickup to be driven by a macho kid. The police now have their dead scapegoat to carry the can and all that now remains is the passing of envelopes.
  19. It's quite possible that she didn't know that she was pregnant, it seems that nobody else did. I knew a young lady, many years ago, who went to her doctor to complain of stomach pains. When he examined her he told her she was having a baby and sent her straight to hospital, where she gave birth 2 days later. She'd had no idea that she was pregnant.
  20. "Can't cure stupidity of the Thais/Burmese riding the pick-up" They're young blokes Robin. I remember some of the stupid things that I did when I was young, I was banned from driving 3 times, which may have saved my life. These kids aren't going to question the safety of all piling into the pickup, it's the job of those responsible for the transport to keep them safe.
  21. My gf met one of the doctors from the local hospital about an hour ago and she told her that there were 20 people (mostly Burmese construction workers) in the pickup and sadly 3 of them died. Everyday, probably throughout Thailand, we see overloaded pickups and motorbikes going about their business and everyday someone dies and will continue to die until someone says, 'you can't do that' and enforces it.
