Paetongtarn’s pledge: No more Shinawatra slip-ups
kickstart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They got ousted by the power elite.......because they were too popular with the voters. And Thaksin did a lot to stop drugs on the street, which for a lot of people was a good thing, made him popular.... unless you were an army general selling drugs, finding your income dropping from the sale of drugs. Then him at the time, who was second on the rung of the ladder, borrowed some money from MR T, him at the top of the ladder found out and was not impressed. The two of the above together equaled a coup. And yes for your average Thia he was well liked, it was him that brought in the 30-baht heath care, brought in pensions, money for the handicap, very popular with the people. -
International media predicts tough road ahead for Thailand’s new PM
kickstart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yingluck was not in power for long when Bangkok had the big floods, everyone said then, she had no experience of politics, she seemed to muddle though, with more than a bit of help from BB. Then the rice scam happened, and her running down to Cambodia (rumors say with a little bit of help from him at the top). Let's give her a chance, if they are rumors of the atlas being open on the page with roads going east, we will know something is amiss. -

Not easy, the Nappier variety mainly used is Packchon 2 which has a low dry matter DM, or a high water conaint, compared to other Nappier varieties. One obvers way would cut it at an early stage of growth the stems are softer, still have a low DM but easer to dry than when the stems are old and hard, early stage of growth would be not more than 55 and a maz. of 60 days old We make Nappier grass silage, and we wilt the grass for 24-30 hours, tuning it once one the second day, our Nappier is Nappier Tiawan, that has a high DM, normally 24-30 hours is enough before chopping it for silage. We once had some Packchon 2 had to be dried for 2 days before chopping, just to wet. So, the answer is dry it in the sun, but easier said than done not easy getting the timing right with the weather,

Fate of digital wallet scheme unclear after Srettha’s departure

Ah, the Whitehall Farses, at least our lot here keep they trousers on, they had scripts then, this lot seem to make it up as they go along, with Tony and co the main producers I think it will be scraped, a lot of economists said it was not a good idea country cannot afford it. But a piece on the BBC website a couple of weeks ago said more than one county was watching to see what would happen, more than one thinking about a cashless society. -
Thai PM Srettha Axed Over Controversial Cabinet Appointment
kickstart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I live in Lopburi province, Lopburi has a big military base, home to the artillery regiment, their practice ground is 40km from us, for the past 4 days they have been out with the big guns on the practice range, we can hear them where we are. I have been saying Ob-Long-Batie-Watt in Thai, or practicing for a coup, that brings up a smile on the Thai's. -
May be free on a car but, in my rural area and others we have no places like places like "Cockpit", the nearest place near me like Cockpit does not do motorbikes, you will have to pay. This subject of using plugs on motorbikes has come up before, unless you have the kit, and can find the hole, unless a 2inch nail is sticking out, the tyer will have to come off not easy on a Fino,a job for a shop, if you can find one.

Mini excavator for farm, has anyone bought one?
kickstart replied to Sakeopete's topic in Farming in Thailand Forum
I would say it would make more sense to rent one if it is only a one-off job, in my area, I see them all the time on trailers being towed to another job, it seems the latest business idea, prices now should be competitive, prices were about 800 baht/hour, now they should be a lot lower, just ask around in your area. -
And what about the valve, a tubeless valve is bigger than a tubed valve, I see it works in the photo, are they car valves, look different from the ones I have seen on cars, and will your local shop stock them. One thing, in my rural area, not many if any bike shops can fix a tubeless tyer, wife's daughter's Fino, they have to go to a car repair place, and one shop charged them 200 baht to fix a puncture.
-
No, Mag wheels. As for using tubeless tyers, you cannot use tubeless tyers on a tubed rim, and can you get 2.75x17 tubeless tyers.
-
As has been said, the problem is the valves not the inner tube, my Wave I have to check the tyers every 10-4 days, and they nearly always need some air in them, been like this for all the bikes I have had here for the past 20 years.

Thailand unveils new visa rules, sparks mixed reactions
kickstart replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Can anyone remember back to 2006 ish ,we went for, at the time for a marriage extension, at the Bangkok IMO, was told "now you do not need 400k on deposit", I said really? wife had it spent in 15 seconds, build a new house, I said wait a year, Following year same thing, no money needed on deposit, wife got her new house, following year 2008 financial crash went to IMO, first thing "where's your 400k" oh sugar from me. I can see these new rules changing overnight, will the next new government keep it, or even the next new PM, the way this country's politics work it might not be so far away. I think. Do not hold your breath.- 137 replies

A story. about 70 years the government gave the Bangkok Rickshaw drivers, the one's that wanted it, 25 rie of land 10 acers in cental Lopburi ,the land was part juggle part scrub land, they were told go and clear it, and it is yours. They were a lot of takers and most stayed, a lot built houses like these, after a few years, then thay died or retied and the land passed to the family, a lot had no interest in farming and now just rent the land out to other local farmers, some land was sold. But a few of these old houses still remain. -
Thai Language Seen as Vital National Symbol, Survey Shows
kickstart replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I said about school meals in my post, school uniform as I said the government helps to the sum of 320 baht/student. In the wife's family they Seem's to be lot of kids they all get that 320-baht never been a problem. Here a lot of kids go to school on what we would call the school bus ,fleets of them leave the school at 4.30pm ,never herd of the police doing checks at start of term ,they sometime stop cars and motorbikes near the school for checks ,do not very often see the kids getting stopped ,the police know they will not have any money to pay the fine. That "incentive" is a new one on me, let us see your evidence that it has actually happened. -

Thai Language Seen as Vital National Symbol, Survey Shows
kickstart replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Education up to 15 years old in Thailand at government schools is free, the expensive things are school uniforms, which the government helps, with 320-baht, school meals and transport to and from the school. As for the Thai language anyone who can learn the 44 consonant's and 22 valves plus tone marks of Thai language is doing well in my book.- 67 replies

Blackchin Tilapia Invasion Threatens Southeast Asia's Ecosystems
kickstart replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Farming these fish, for selling at 15 baht/kg I do not think so, no money in it, a farmer farming Bla Nin, Tilapia are selling them at 60 baht/kg straight from the pond, and a lot of them will not be making a lot of money at that price, fish food is not cheap .it is a high protein feed, made mainly from dried fish -
