  1. YES….I have a Citi CC and use it at Makro
  2. MrsJ and myself have both accounts with BB and CIMB. Very good service from the bank branches. However phoning BB is a different matter. Try to avoid that like the plague.
  3. A new one is now open. You get up to five days and you only pay 60% of the room cost. Scheme lasts until the end of April. This time it is easier to book as the hotel does it for you. As previous only Thais can book. MrsJ has already booked our five days.
  4. Troll post removed … please stick to sensible and useful answers.
  5. We live not far from junction of Chaengwattana and Prachachuen Road. A guy in the village has a ‘station’ Air Visual App.. right now AQI is 171 and 2.5 is 93.8. Air purifiers are running flat out in our house
  6. Suppose will have to go to doctors again. I assume that it is too much of a risk to leave it is as most likely a bacterial infection. Guess he was hoping for some advice as to how long he can avoid not getting antibotics again, does he really need to see a doctor tomorrow. are throat infections likely to clear on their own.
  7. HoloRoof are in Nonthaburi. If I remember correctly the guy imports the sheets from Indonesia. He has a huge stock so availability is not a problem. I have seen Chinese copies advertised so be careful. Our carport is quite wide so we had to have quite some steelwork to prevent excessive sag. You will have to ask the guy …he speaks english …about load bearing… but yes it’s very strong and sheets are not exactly light …. We are not far from ChaengWattana immigration so if ever around that way come and look if you wish. As an aside we also used 2M screw piles instead of conventional piling. I’ll find some pics later of ‘during construction’ … When I had a search for you there were several more videos
  8. When we had the Car Port buil we used a double skinned uPVC product, comes in sheets. The company goes under the name of HoloRoof. I know now that this product has been copied by the Chinese ... as you would expect. During heavy rain it is surprisingly quite. The roof is now supporting 14 Solar panels. There is a short video ... https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=206854153579377
  9. If I can use my credit card to pay, I do. All other times my wife pays … even tips my caddie when we play golf. Of course her bank account needs frequent topping up …..
  10. Now there is some tie-up between Citi and UOB…UOB have taken over Citi consumer banking. I have a Citi Credit Card ….I am retired …I don’t have to ‘lock away’ any money …my normal limit is 160,000 Baht. I have to pay all off each month. If I don’t spend 300,000 Baht a year then there is a charge for the card..MrJ doesn’t have any problem helping me with that ….. I don’t have any bank account with Citi …just BB and CIMB Thai
  11. Nothing wrong with women in their 40’s, many are extremely attractive …twenty year ago I married MrsJ when she was 48 …best thing I ever did in my whole life.
  12. Come on … we are all waited with bated breath as to what will be found when you remove the pan…watch out for snake lol
  13. We have three valves … his and hers bum guns plus the toilet supply …true…
  14. Judging by that pic …you maybe should have a can of mozzy spray handy when you eventually get the pan out …also have something ready to seal the soil pipe …water in a plastic bag … rags etc BUT tie some string to whatever as you don’t want a bigger problem ie blocked pipe. ????
  15. My toilet has a 20cm gap ..the rear is 7cm from the wall. So I didn’t have a big problem accessing the studs. Can you get your hand in to feel if it is bolted down …can you feel the two nuts. I cannot say for sure BUT I think mine wasn’t bolted down initially. it was just sitting on a bed of something like white cement …but it was actually a pink colour. If your wife is dainty/thin boned ask he to put her hand in and feel around for the nuts. If the plumber set it on a thick cement bed it will be reasonably easy, although time consuming, to chip out. Post a photo of where the pan joins the floor…if you can chip a bit out to show how close it is to the tiles …of course he might have glued it to the floor…. enjoy
  16. Good points …. Re Fig5 … my holding down bolts were inside the hollow area. I needed to use a small ratchet and socket. I bedded the toilet on white cement and pulled the holding down bolts down whilst checking that the pan was level. If your tiles are perfectly flat you can get away with no white cement …. Just sealer as shown…I was just concerned about cracking the pan if I overtightened the holding down bolts. Also check that the pan looks parallel to the wall …you don’t want to be ******** at an angle do you ……..
  17. Use the viscosity stated in your handbook. but you won’t go far wrong with Mobil1 Oil For Turbo Diesel Pickup synthetic 5W-40 Toyota oil filter is fine.Buy from them and you know it won’t be fake 10-12000kms normally ok … if hard driven/off road/all short journeys manual will say half that
  18. Here is the link to my problem of 2019 https://aseannow.com/topic/1088431-how-to-deal-with-this-plumbing-bodge/
  19. So here are some pics of a problem I had .. if you search towards then end of march 2019 you will see the problem that I had and the solution. Basically the soil pipe was put too far to one side and they bodged it my moving across. I had to repair with a sleeve. I show a pic of the kit you need together with pics that show you how to fit correctly. Use the proper Cotto Kit!
  20. We have cotto … you can buy the proper cotto kit. We had a smell and I took out the toilet and found that they hadn’t used the sealing ring. The fact that the toilet is open at the back is no problem UNLESS the sealing ring hasn’t been fitted or fitted correctly Some Thai plumbers believe that ring is not needed and throw it away..that then means that they rely on the white cement or whatever to provide the seal between pipe and toilet. I’ll’ find you a picture of the kit you need later.
  21. What is the make of toilet …. Photo? They are not too hard to take out … there should not be any opening between the bathroom itself and the soil pipe
  22. This topic has interested me. WISE have recently increased their fees. Like you I have used WISE for years. Previously Moneycorp and before that sent GBP to my BB account. When sending GBP I always found that BB exchanged early in the morning and looking at the posted rates later found that I had always lost out. No idea if that is the same case. Whatever turns out to be the financially best way I will continue to use WISE … it is so straightforward. We have a joint account in the UK, my wife can do transfers to either her BB account or mine. It is always a concern that one day I may not be able to do the transfers myself, so the fact that she can is a blessing. She is used to using our RBS account transfer system in the UK …also using WISE so I don’t want to complicate things by changing the process. I’m not sure if it’s possible but setting up a WISE automatic monthly transfer of 65,100thb is another way …as long as it comes FTT. So far transfers always have and I have never had to repeat the transfer after talking to then. As someone mentioned previously in a post, I always keep the backup 800K in another bank. We have been self insured medically for quite a few years now as premiums were becoming outrageous. I will add that our BB branch, Samakee Road, who we have been with since about 2006 are extremely helpful … we always get great service …
  23. Been with Bangkok Bank since about 2006. I do my extension based on pension. Immigration always ask to see thirteen months deposits. I order a twelve month statement 2-3 months early. Then the day before I visit Immigration I order a statement for the remaining period plus the letter detailing all deposits from the UK. On the day, I order the letter saying that I own the account and what the balance is. Also update my bank book… copy front page and last page which shows updated balance. Never have a problem. Seems from comments I may be a little fortunate.
  24. Find another testing place … quite an old topic revived!
  25. Be careful with the LV48100… there are variations ….
