A related issue: I have a Canadian friend who will be affected by this as he uses the embassy affidavit route. His retirement extension is at the beginning of February, but he cannot transfer 65k every month because of commitments in Canada until August so he cannot show 12 months of transfers, after that date, he can easily meet the requirements. What are his options? He does not want the services of an agent! What are the financial requirements based on the income method if he leaves Thailand and re-enters to start a fresh non-imm O at the end of the year? Enter visa - exempt, extend and then 3-month non-imm O (show income proof from Canada) Obtain a 12-month extension ( show 3 months of 65k transfers to Thai bank) His Canadian pension letters state he has more than 65k after tax deductions and Canadian bank statements to back it up. Thanks.

I'm not interested in American politics whatsoever but she looks and sounds as 'high as a kite'!

Are high end smartphones worth the money (to you)?
Madgee replied to impulse's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I recently bought a Xiaomi 14T Pro for just under 20k, it came with 10k of accessories and a 4k robot vacuum cleaner! Lol. I am very impressed with the speed, hypercharge system (20 mins from 10% to 80%), battery life and the Leica camera system, as I recently took up amateur photography. The reviews on this phone are extremely positive, most stating it has the features of premium phones, some costing twice as much! I tend to use this phone much more than my old 5-year-old mid-price range phone as it's so much quicker and works flawlessly with Android Auto on my car, unlike my old phone that sometimes suffered with connection issues. I can understand some people objecting to paying over 10k for a phone, it comes down to whether you want the speed and features which some people don't (or are incapable of using). Each to their own. -
K bank E-mail with Tax Forms attached ?
Madgee replied to offset's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
For the UK: If you have ever been self-employed or completed a self-assessment tax return, you would have been issued a UTR. (Unique Tax Reference) number. This can be found on the HMRC app or Gov. Gateway website. This is the UK version of a TIN. -

I've never seen any apples that cheap in Tops. Don't you mean 34 ฿ each? Being pedantic I know.

In my neck of the woods, the full range of Carabao beers were available in BigC and Lotus's including the IPA. A few months ago they disappeared from the shelves, never to be seen again! I forgot About Cj stores, a new branch (small) opened a few months ago, I'll have to check there.

So what, your point is? Anyway, I'd been to Gt Yarmouth and Blackpool ....So there! 😁 Err, no not really but it shows the places you frequent and the places I tend to avoid. Most of my friends are decent and responsible guys. Most ex-pats I know have no intention of living in their home country so why try to get their partner citizenship? If sh!t hit the fan then there are many other countries to relocate to with your partner ... If she would go! ✈️ Now that I agree with it!

Best UK Bank whilst living in Thailand
Madgee replied to Karlo's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Nationwide send replacement cards to Thailand. I had not realised that mine was expiring and they automatically replaced mine to my Thailand address without me asking. Also, they sent me a new card reader not long ago at my request. Download the NBS app in the UK. -

The Corolla Cross in Aussie is a different beast than that in Thailand .... 2.0L V 1.8L so it has different fuel consumption. Also, I'm not sure if the Aussie version is a hybrid. Average fuel economy of 23.3km/l for the 1.8 Hev. I've got the Corolla Cross GR which benefits from superior suspension and more positive steering.

Roi-Et I.O. has been handing out this form haphazardly for at least the past 6 months. A Canadian friend who uses the embassy letter method for his retirement extension was given it in December 2023. I saw them give it to a German national doing his extension (marriage) using the income method last November while I was doing my retirement extension using the 800k in the bank method. I was not asked to fill this form in. Considering the inferior translation of this form, even by immigration standards, I would guess that it is a 'local' form but let's see if there are any more reports from other I.O.s.

Wise Transfers from Canada
Madgee replied to Madgee's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Thanks for that! The guy is hard to convince that it is possible to do it quicker and cheaper. I am aware that he used to use intervac some time ago but always had problems. I've now discovered he's been doing it wrong anyway. Instead of using the 'send' option he's been using the CAD icon and also the pay by debit card instead of a cheaper option available. He's a little technophobic so pictures is the way to go! Lol. Many thanks to all that have made the effort to help him. -
My Canadian neighbour is always mentioning his transfers take 5-7 days to reach his account in Thailand. BoM - Wise - BBL. Does it really take that long or is it something he's doing wrong? My transfers using Wise from the UK are almost instant!

Older Diesel Cars to Undergo Stricter Inspections to Curb Pollution
Madgee replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
In my neck of the woods, most of the older pick-ups, smoke-belching or not have never seen an inspection for years. They have no plates, smashed lights etc. and the police do nothing because these poor folks have no money to pay their fines so what's the point of fining them? (sarcasm intended) Many have no intention of ever complying with the law and because of their circumstances, the law does not apply to them. -
It can be completed on the phone without any correspondence on your part. They will inform you by post about payment and due dates. I received my first payment before any confirmation letter was received! No complaints whatsoever.

Easy peasy, all done in 15 mins. It cannot be done online from abroad. You do not need to be registered with any Gov. Dept. Phone this number +44 (0) 191 218 7777. International Pension Centre UK Have your N.I. number and bank details available. I applied in late Feb for my UK state pension beginning in early April. The first payment was made in late May.

From my research: UHT milk is made from powdered milk. Pasteurised milk is fresh. You've only got to look on the websites of the major milk producers to see this.
