I feel sorry for those who have used the Savannakhet route to live in Thailand. Many have families to support, have used their funds for this purpose and have no means of depositing 400k in a Thai bank. In the past, many have hoped that this would happen and knew it would cause family issues for those caught in the trap. Already I've received a message from a 'gloater', sad MF. Rules are rules, but to implement this new condition with no warning is unjust. Agree. It was inevitable that sooner rather than later, the Savannakhet loophole would be closed.

What’s needed to buy car in Thailand
Madgee replied to WilliamCave's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
I recently bought a new car from a main Toyota dealer. They required: Money! Yellow book or Cert of Residence from immigration (valid for vehicle purchase) Copy of passport I.D. (for new vehicle registration) My Thai I.D. was not acceptable I used my yellow book. The dealer sorted out everything, great service. -
Little need for “digital wallet” scheme : Bank of Thailand
Madgee replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
When's the last time you went to Makro? All the Makro stores near me accept payment by phone and judging by the way most customers say 'scan', it's by far the most popular way to pay. -
Will immigration know that the couple divorced?
Madgee replied to Jack1988's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm pretty sure (why, ''pretty''?) you are capable of doing research yourself. A lack of understanding humour have you? ..... Oh well, how sad, never mind. BTW, congratulations! -
Will immigration know that the couple divorced?
Madgee replied to Jack1988's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
According to my mate 'Google': If there is a divorce your Non-Immigrant O Marriage Visa will become invalid and you will be required to leave Thailand immediately. In some cases, you may be allowed to remain in Thailand until the Thai Marriage Visa expires, but you must first check at a Thai Immigration Office. All of the so-called legal firms seem to agree on this! Remember that many of these cowboys use the term 'visa' when they should be using the term 'extension of stay'. IMO, it's doubtful that immigration would pick this up unless they were informed by a third party so as others have stated, you should be good to carry on until your extension expires. Your decision of course. I did hear from a friend of a friends friend of someone who got reported to immigration by their ex-wife looking for revenge! A large overstay fine and immediate deportation with a 1-year blacklisting. How true it is I don't know but it does seem plausible. -
^^ Ditto. I've had my Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid GR Sport for about 3 months now and I'm extremely happy with it. My lady is going to order the Toyota Yaris Hybrid Premium this week. She really wants the GR Sport version (not available yet) but can't wait! Just my opinion: The MG brigade are really hypocritical as I going to bet most have never even sat in a Cross yet alone driven one and all they spout on about is how cheap MG's are and how much money you're going to save etc. The resale value of EV's is extremely poor, especially for Chinese models. Cost was not a selling point to me, I tried out MG ZS and the EV option and I wasn't impressed, I don't like them! Again, it's a personal thing, I don't feel comfortable in any EV and yes, I have been in a BYD Atto and the MG 4 which I think looks really cool. Op, the Yaris Cross Hybrid is well equipped and has a solid pedigree and dealership network. It's a nice motor!

I'm intrigued .... Exactly what 'treatment' do you pay for? Spa Treatments - Let's Relax Spa (letsrelaxspa.com) I pay ฿300 for a 60 min (90 mins would kill me) Thai full body massage with no extras up country. ฿50 tip is plenty.

Yes, my neighbour has his gas bottle on one. Unfortunately, I have a Thai style kitchen set-up so there's a 2'' lip to overcome to get it in the gas bottle unit. Great idea though!

My last bottle (about 3 months ago) cost B450. The shop is about 500m away. Always delivered and fitted within a few minutes of calling 7am-7pm. I suspect the 'extra charge' is for fitting the new bottle as opposed to just dumping on the doorstep and exchange the old bottle. I'd be willing to pay a little more if asked, those bottles are heavy to move in and out of my kitchen unit!

A question for those who receive their state pension directly to a Thai bank: It specifies that it is received in the local currency and the amount can vary depending on the current exchange rate so is the exchange rate competitive? If so does the receiving bank make any charges? I am due the full UK state pension after April 2024 so will be entitled to the next increase in April. I still have a UK bank acct which it could be paid into but considering changing my financial requirements for retirement extension from 800k in a Thai bank to the combination method as it would be simple if my pension is directly paid to Thailand, thus releasing capital to use without further international transfers from the UK where it earns much more interest. Just food for thought! Before anyone chimes in about future pension increases etc. I have no UK address. Although I fully support that pension increases should apply regardless where a person resides, I have no intension of committing fraud.

how to handle request of " no income declaration" from Thai authorities
Madgee replied to fvw53's topic in General Topics
If that is so then that could open up a different can of worms regarding those that fraudulently claim they reside in the UK when, in fact, they truly reside in Thailand. -

Madgee replied to fvw53's topic in General Topics
UK state pension is not taxed at source as it is under the personal allowance but does go against any other income including private pensions. Hence the tax you pay is on any income above the personal allowance including private pensions. This is normally deducted at source by your pension company. As I see it: The weight chart is used for other vehicles exceeding 7 seaters. The DLT is using this chart for EV vehicles that seat under 7 passengers. MG ZS X EV is about 1600kg .....

I use Pataks curry pastes as I prefer my curries on the dry side, much like the northern Thai ['hang lay' curry. Reading this thread made me hungry so .... A lamb madras curry with spinach balls: -

As a supplier of fresh produce to Indian food establishments in the UK I can honestly tell you that the majority of kitchens are absolutely spotless. The chefs take as much pride in their kitchens as of the dishes they produce and are very finicky when it comes down to the quality of ingredients they procure. Now, Chinese restaurants ........................................... -
Celosia or cockscomb plant. Celosia require regular watering but do not overwater as they can tolerate dryer soil better than overly wet soil and too much water can kill the plant. Only water when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. Pests and diseases are usually not an issue with this plant. Remember these plants are annuals, that's why they are so cheap and they do need plenty of sunlight! I used to sell 1000's of these to be used as bedding / border plants in and around parks (UK) during the summer months. Visual feast of flowers for Bangkokians (nationthailand.com)
