  1. The quality of the local tailors ain't what it used to be...
  2. Perhaps the most bizarre thing that happened to me was some guy trying to give me a neck massage in a lavatory that was in a bar in Chiang Mai whilst I was standing at the urinal, trying to take a leak. I saw him when I walked in and he crept up behind me and yanked my neck, cracking the bone and then stood there expecting a tip. At the time, I thought I was being mugged.
  3. I don't believe that any member should be able to pick and choose who can read/respond to their posts. For example, someone could post critical information that is important to all but some users would be blocked from reading it. At the end of the day it's just an online forum full of anonymous posters. Some members just need to not rise to the bait and focus on the really important things in their lives.
  4. It's so sad that people insist on prioritizing vanity over common sense.
  5. Sorry but when they are done well I like both equally. Apart from that is pizza with pineapple which is an abomination.
  6. My advice to you is put the kettle on and make yourself a nice cup of tea. Then just relax and think happy thoughts about kittens and little fluffy bunny rabbits. And before you know where you will be as contented with life as a pig is wallowing around in it's own excrement.
  7. I believe that because of the taxation agreement that has existed between the UK and Thailand since 1981 it's unlikely that you will fall foul of the new regulations as of next year.
  8. It all depends on how egotistical you are. People who are terrified of commitment and are self obsessed are generally single. People who embrace commitment and are happy to put another person's feelings ahead of their own are generally attached. Being in a relationship is only for the strong minded. The weak minded need to stay single.
  9. Yes! Go for it! Basically it can be pretty much any protein that is stir fried with holy basil which is Kaphrao in Thai.
  10. I'm happy to pay for kindle books because authors that write them have a right to earn a living the same as anyone else. The OP states that he doesn't want to harm anybody but by stealing kindle books that they have written and own the copyright to he is indirectly doing exactly that. To download them illegally, the same as with TV shows, music and movies is stealing and is therefore morally indefensible. And yet the same people who do this are normally first in line to criticize a penniless shoplifter who's stealing food for his children. In the big scheme of things they are infinitely worse.
  11. From the original article... This ambitious tax reform agenda needs to be more than just a headline. It should be a meticulously crafted policy that serves its constituents — both the haves and the have-nots — without sacrificing economic stability. As it stands, the proposed taxation on incoming funds is a well-intended but half-baked plan, a ship sailing into murky waters without a compass. This just sums up the whole scheme in a nutshell.
  12. This month, for the first time in a while we didn't get any government discount on our bill. So this month's bill has actually gone up, not down even though we used roughly the same amount of units.
  13. My wife is 3 years older than me. 56 and 59. Back in the 1990s living in the UK I had a year long fling with a Thai woman who was 11 years older than me. I was 29 and she was 40. At the time I'd been trying (and failing) to date an older woman for years. It was very much a bucket list moment.
  14. I never payed a fee at Chiang Mai and I was asked to fill in the above form.
  15. As per normal this process will vary slightly from office to office. I had my stamps transferred to my new passport earlier this year at Chiang Mai and I can 100% confirm that there was an application form to fill in. But, weirdly this form is not the same as the one used for the same process at Bangkok immigration, which you can download off the internet.
  16. There is nothing like a nice civet crappuccino...
  17. I think giving all existing prisoners the same treatment as Thaksin isn't really doable...
  18. I definitely feel privileged to have "come of age" during the 70s and 80s. It was a simpler time where people didn't rely on technology and hand held electronic devices to run their lives. People weren't so easily offended and snowflakes were just something that fell from the sky every winter.
  19. I walk an average of 15,000 steps everyday plus two 20 minute sessions on my exercise bike. It really makes those relaxing, lazy moments all the more special.
  20. I'm off to CM immigration tomorrow as my under consideration period for my marriage extension is up. I hope they are not going to tie me to a chair and interrogate me before they stamp my passport!
