Dom, captain of Wild Boars football team, killed himself at school in UK
Grusa replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Plus institutionalised racism and xenophobia, "hazing" and "fagging", all considered normal in such schools. Just like here. Very sad. RIP. -

Thailand’s EV initiative: Driving towards a greener future
Grusa replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I call bs on all this ev nonsense. No infrastructure, no generation capacity, vehicles unreliable fire hazards, take forever to charge to not go very far, weigh far more than ice cars hence less efficient, poor resale value. When other systems mature (hydrogen, fusion, fuel cells, ......????, come along, evs will go the way of the dodo, except for public transport fueled by under-vehicle power transmission (trams).- 35 replies

Thai education embraces UK programmes to boost English language proficiency
Grusa replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Interestingly, on the rare occasions when my Thai friends want, or need, to RTFM of anything at all complex, they do so in English if available. The Thai language version leaves them utterly perplexed! That said, English transliterations of other language manuals can be tiresome, amusing, or incomprehensible. Many years ago I had a piece of equipment from a top-of-the-line Japanese manufacturer. "When the globe is exhausted through elongated usage........." change the light bulb. It would be nice if Thai printers would ask a friendly neighbourhood Brit to proof read their output before committing to press! -
Thailand, Singapore Ready to Enhance Multifaceted Cooperation

Is multifaceted the same as two-faced? Just asking..... -
I second that, plus their customer service is excellent, told me how to get my smart tv to work through one of their servers, avoiding Amazons protections.

Lopburi homeowners swing into action against monkey invasion
Grusa replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
When I first came to Thailand I was amazed at the security bars and fences on low-cost housing units everywhere. I always assumed they must be a truly dishonest lot if break-ins and cat-burglary were such a problem. Only after visiting Lopburi did I realise that, mostly, human burglars are not the problem...... -

Thai Workers Are A Joke
Grusa replied to Brewster67's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Wrong. I have installed ours three times now, in different homes, all rebated into the counter top, no additional support required. The unit is twenty years old, the glass is getting a bit dull where the pans rub, otherwise as good as new. I did have to fit a new motherboard as PEA managed to burn it out, once.
