Thoughts on non-O retirement via agent...
EricTh replied to HauptmannUK's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
@HauptmannUK The cons of using agent is that if a new immigration head comes in and do an auditing, you might be blacklisted for 'falsifying documents'. Another con is you have to use the agent continuously without stopping for many years because they need to see the past 12 months bank statement if you decide to go the legal way. So if your past 12 months bank statement doesn't show the required money, they will be questioning how you got the renewal in the first place. -
Preparing to leave the car idle again for 2 years, any ideas?
EricTh replied to Velleman's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Disconnecting the battery won't save the battery. The battery is dead after 2 years if it is not used, I believe. Can some car expert confirm this? -

Issuing free e-vaccine passports from 1-31 Dec 2021

No, you should get a page with two option buttons - one for booking, one to show status of applicaiton. I managed to do it today and didn't have any problems. -
Issuing free e-vaccine passports from 1-31 Dec 2021
EricTh replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
That is a local vacc cert and not an e-vaccine passport. They are two different QR code if I understand it correctly. -
Most countries would recommend 6 months after 2nd shot for the booster shot. Vaccines are not vitamins so don't take it more than necessary.
-
This world has really gone upside down because politicians control the world. Vaccination should be voluntary and not forced. Natural immunity is always better than the vaccines. Vaccines are just a simulation of the real virus albeit a weakened form.

Issuing free e-vaccine passports from 1-31 Dec 2021
EricTh replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The strange thing is that some people reported using the local vac cert and it was accepted. The yellow booklet doesn't have any QR code just watermarks on every page. Is this even useful at all? -

Immigration also has all our non-O visa information, TM30, TM47 on their system and yet every time we still have to photocopy our visa pages etc for the yearly renewal. Immigration do like extra unnecessary paperwork, unfortunately.... -

This is confusing. So what's the difference between this and the QR code on our existing vaccination certificate? If we already have the booklet vaccine passport, do we need to have a E-vaccine passport? -
Youtube does give us alternative information that are sometimes truer than the mainstream media like CNN or BBC. Mainstream media on the other hand might give us misleading information so that certain parties benefit. It's good to see other people's point of view, isn't that what democracy is all about?

Why We Long-time Farang Will Never Leave Thailand.....
EricTh replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
@GammaGlobulin I thought somebody here said that many westerners are leaving Thailand for various reasons including that the Chinese is getting closer. They already built a high speed railway into Laos. So you are the few who decide to stay? -
If you really must have it, you can go to Chiang Mai . They can process it in 5 working days or request for shorter period if it is urgent. Read thread below.

Does the Thailand Pass app need us to upload the vaccination cert?

Thai/German agreement as Thailand aims to become hub of railways in ASEAN
EricTh replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Laos has just got its first high speed train and Thailand is still figuring what to do? -
Then I don't see much advantage other than not renewing the yearly visa but if one pay so much money 191,400 baht just to get the PR, must as well just do a yearly visa. We have to pay the same 1900 baht yearly fee for the residence book if we want to travel outside Thailand. So it beats the purpose.

Most dangerous vehicle in ChiangMai Province or anywhere else
EricTh replied to Kanada's topic in Chiang Rai
@Kanada Thai are notoriously bad drivers, they would drive onto the main road from a small lane without stopping first. I nearly had accidents everytime. It's just not this type of truck but any big vehicle that are dangerous in Thailand.
