Good Homework!!! The work, done with mice and humans, suggests that artificial sweeteners could raise your blood sugar levels more than if you indulged in sugar-sweetened sodas and desserts. Lots more research confirming this.  https://www.webmd.com/diet/news/20140917/artificial-sweeteners-blood-sugar#1

No problem, I tried it just now. Far too sweet. Back to Soda Water.

Or-Ah-Hahn-Thai Restaurant is reopening next weekend

I know I'm thick but can you give me a more detailed description on where it is. I'm always looking for a cheap place to take the wife. Not being a cheap charlie but I find that if we go to a European restaurant she always orders (cheap) Thai and a luxurious decor doesnt impress. Her favorite was The Fish (all you can eat b-b-q 199 baht).

You may have to get it checked at a "dealer" in order to keep the warranty good , and get the service book stamped. Sumet have a good reputation , and have been recommended by taninthai , who knows his bikes. Get the Honda dealer to do the warranty work , then go to Sumet and explain your concerns to Brian .Leave the bike with him , and arrange to watch the mechanic re-check the work the following day. I know this may be a pain , but its the only way to both get the service / warranty book stamped , and ensure the job is done correctly. Ive no connection to Sumet , or imply they need their work watching !. If you use them , or another independent mechanic , let us know the results. Good service takes some tracking down.

    Where is Sumet?

  4. The Service Centre is now on the west side of Sukumvit. Its in the 1st building on the left as you come from the 7 (or just past the 7 on Sukumvit). Its a single shop house and the shop next to it protrudes onto the pavement so you wont see it till the last moment. There is no big sign like before.

    I hope this helps.

  5. A few years ago I signed up for a satellite service ( I cant remember the name but it took the football from True).  After they went tits up we were still receiving all the Thai channels through the set top box.

This was all right with me as the wife had the TV for her Soaps and I had the computer (now HD Prime) for the sports. This carried on until a couple of weeks ago when we lost channels 1 to 36, we still had all the advertising channels. I thought that this might be temporary then a few days later they disappeared as well. All we get now is 'No Signal'.

This doesn't bother me but the wife comes back from the village next week and she is going to want her soaps.

Any suggestions about what happened and what can I do about it would be helpful.

    Thanks

  6. I found a Doctor near me. She prescribed Clindamycin, Dicloxacillin  and Serratiopeptidase with a proviso that if it doesn't show an improvement I should go to a hospital and have an intravenous injection. She gave me a form to take with me.

She also told me what it was- Cellulitis.

  7. Its a reoccurring problem with an infection in my ankle which spreads up my leg. Looking red and feeling hot.

1st time BHP, intravenous drip kept in over night. Expensive.

Since then local Doctor, intramuscular shot and a course of antibiotics. Except my doctors is shut at the weekend. I stared to take Amoxicillin 500mg last night but I'm not sure if its working, but I don't wont to go to a hospital if I can help it.

  8. I went to go to my normal Doctor this morning but then realized it was Saturday and he doesn't work at the weekend. Any body have a recommendation for a Doctor who works Saturday. I don't really want to go to a hospital.

  9. I use Hydrogen Peroxide 3% solution. It dissolves the wax. Available from Boots for about 15 Baht. You will need a small syringe to put the solution in the ear (keeping your head tilted).

For heavy wax build up you will actually see foam coming out of your ear. I've been doing this for years and have had no large build up of wax since. A good site on the internet is www.mayoclinic.org but there are others giving home remedies for earwax.

I did pay once at a clinic (2000 Baht) and then I started to look on the net.

Thanks Roger. I looked at Hugs. So u seem happy with them....May I ask which model u picked and if u feel they are suitable for the average overweight tourist and bedsports? My experience is people prefer a medium soft/hard one. Any extra info much appreciated. MS>

    Hi

I bought The Back Care Spring Foam with Double sided foam pillow top 3 years ago. The 6' x6.5 version. Cost 16,700 Baht. I only have 1 complaint (and its not really a complaint). When you come to turn the mattress the 6'x6.5 is quite heavy and it takes 3 of us to turn it. As an overweight farang (115k) I don't think you will have any problems with overweight people.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for that gentlemen. I'll re-post when I get round to going to a branch in the next few days.

I opened an account at Central Pattaya Beach. I had to get a Certificate of Residence  from immigration (total time 20 min, went and had a beer).

I've got to go back next week for my debit card, but it couldn't have been easier (apart from having to sign god knows how many forms).

  12. I need to open an account with Bangkok Bank. I have a Non Imm. O visa  and a  Driving License (5year) but no Work Permit.

I have 2 accounts with TMB but they don't offer the service that I need ( I opened the first of these with a tourist visa many years ago).

I'm looking for recommendations on which branch to try. I don't really want to traipse around town trying branch after branch until I find the right one.

    Looking forward to your suggestions.

Regarding Hydrochlorothyozide, a friend who is a retired physician warned me that it tends to deplete potassium in the body and that I should either take a supplement or take care to eat foods high in potassium such as bananas, sweet potato, watermelon and spinach.

Thanks Dave. Funny enough my specialist said that next time I have a blood test (at Lifecare, not the hospital) get them to check my Potassium.
