I need to open an account with Bangkok Bank. I have a Non Imm. O visa  and a  Driving License (5year) but no Work Permit.

I have 2 accounts with TMB but they don't offer the service that I need ( I opened the first of these with a tourist visa many years ago).

I'm looking for recommendations on which branch to try. I don't really want to traipse around town trying branch after branch until I find the right one.

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Thanks Dave. Funny enough my specialist said that next time I have a blood test (at Lifecare, not the hospital) get them to check my Potassium.

Thanks for your reply Its given me a lot to think about. I live in Pattaya and go to Bangkok Pattaya hospital. At least my specialist lets me buy my drugs from Fascino instead of the hospitals pharmacy.

Can you tell me which of the following drugs are made locally and their names. If I am going to Bangkok I might as well try to buy all the generic versions.

Xarelto

Cordarone

Zanadip

Also the Pharmacy Rung Rote in Soi On Nut, is it before Big C.

Went to Fascino. They only have Diovan. Chonburi is a bit far on my scooter so I'll probably go to Bangkok next week. I'll check on the internet for other locally produced drugs that I need before I go.

At the moment one of the drugs I take is Diovan (160mg). Due to swollen ankles my specialist wants me to take Co-Diovan (160/12.5) instead.

What's the most cost effective way of doing this. Taking Co-Diovan or keep taking Diovan and taking the Hydrochlorothaizide separately. I already spend 10,000 Baht a month on drugs so I'm just trying to keep the cost down. I don't buy from the hospital but from Fascino.

Earlier I rode down Soi Bukaew and a little bit later Soi 6. Soi Bukaew was up and running. Bars open (this was about 4pm) girls and others waving at you etc. A few minutes later Soi 6. I've seen more life on Soi 6 at midday. Some bars shut and the bars that were open although they had plenty of girls the lights were out and very few punters were to be seen.

I can just imagine a conversation in a few weeks. Tom "Lets go down to Soi 6 this afternoon". Dick " No its boring there in the afternoon". Harry ' There is a new place just opened round the corner lets go there instead".

I am going to buy a motorbike (OK scooter) for my wife. I have always bought new and let the shop handle the paperwork (with the exception of certificate of residence). What do I need for my wife to buy a secondhand  bike and how do I go about it.

You wanna bet. I bought the condo 15 years ago for my first wife, my second wife then bought the condo from her. In all that time I have never seen a blue book. I've seen the paperwork that goes with the sale but that's it.

I still don't know what a blue house book is.

I don't rent as my wife owns the condo (she bought it from my ex wife, who filled in the tm30 years ago).  I don't know what a Tabien Baan is.

You certainly would not get away with a rental contract registering a vehicle for example.

Sorry if it wasn't clear. I was talking about extending my visa due to retirement (11 years now).

Can you use a tm30 as proof of address. I used to use my 3bb bill for proof but a couple of years ago they said that wasn't enough. I now use my driving license but I'm concerned about what happens when I'm to old to renew my license.

I was told many years ago to be very careful at roundabouts because the Thai way gives preference to traffic entering the roundabout and not traffic on the roundabout.
