Disgusting cigarette smell from ur neighbour

Yes and often. For reasons like this I have never signed a long term rental contract in LOS. I have only lived in serviced apartments that only require a one month contract. My current building prohibits smoking in units but management does not actually enforce this rule. I plan on moving to a new place early next year. -
You are doing good. I donate to CCF-Cambodian Childrens Fund. The guy who started this organization is from my neck of the woods in So Cal. If you can keep donating.

Actual economy is different for all. Actual economy impacts how one votes. Anyone remember the phrase "it's the economy stupid". The actual economy sunk a second Bush Sr term. The actual economy for the next 3.5 years will impact who is in the White House in 2029. I wonder if this booming Biden economy would have made a difference if the Democrat candidate was not named Harris?

Chiang Mai Immigration Q & A - Info and reports. (2020)
sqwakvfr replied to JimmyJ's topic in Chiang Mai
I have the TM-30 receipt as well stapled to my passport. Also, it was one of the interns at the front counter who give out the queue numbers who insisted that I had present the TM-30. I have lived in LOS long enough to know 1) Do not argue with a Thai person 2) Give them what they want . This time I gave them what they wanted and no need understand why (the one English word most Thai peope hate to hear). -
Thai woman caught smuggling 6 million baht of cocaine into Japan

If she had been caught in SIngapore then this could be a death penalty case. -
When was the last time one went to a store for basic goods in the US? I did. Back in mid September 2024. The economic numbers are good and so are the prices of everyday necessities like food. I didn't even look at things like meat, chicken or even fish. Eating out even at fast food places made me pause a little. Cheapest lunch I found was a single cheeseburger, fries and a drink was just under $10. This was at In N Out. The most expensive lunch at a fast food place was at Chipotle (Chicken Burrito and a drink was almost $17). I talked to some of the people I used to know and one was actually honest and sometimes his family pays for groceries with a credit card. This usually happens before pay day. Aggregate economic numbers sound great but sometimes they do not tranlate to the daily challenges of most Americans. On a positive note my favorit wine (Charles Buck) at Trader Joe's was still a bargain at $3.99 a bottle. It used to $1.99 to $2.49 a bottle. The prices of other things was not so pleasant.

Health officials suspended after video of fatal restraint emerges
sqwakvfr replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
Catch 22? Let the patient walk out and then dies on the street. The family is outraged and blames hospital staff for letting him walk out and die on the street. Restrain the patient to prevent him from leaving and as a result he dies. Hospital staff is blamed for his death. Sometimes it is difficult to restrain someone without the use of force. If it sounds easy to do then get a job at a hospital and deal with the full range of pattients. Some patients are not cooperative and some get violent. -

Dec 2024. 90 Day in person report at Central Festival Immigration. 1 Guy in front of me presented just his passport and TM-47 and was given a number 2. I presented my passport and TM-47 but was asked "where is TM-30. I said " I did not know that". I then digged into my passport holder and pulled out an old TM-30 form I got when i checked into my aparment. This TM-30 had not been updated for almost a year. 3. I got my number and completed the 90 Day report. 4. Anyway it seemed like the need for a TM-30 for the 90 Day report is not consistent and it's "just another form" that is needed. 5. As always "TIT" love it or leave it. -
Russian Tourist in Underwear Battles Thai Police in Phuket [video]
sqwakvfr replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Someone that big and agitated means three wordsL Taser, Taser and Taser. Do police in Phuket have Tasers? If Tasers have no effect then the next step would be to draw, establish a good shooting stance, aim and "front sight and squeeze". Ideally at three rounds at center mass. Doubt talking to him will settle the matter.- 103 replies

Was Ex police officer Derek Chauvin wrongly convicted !
sqwakvfr replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
I think Penny responded based upon the hand to hand combat training he received while in the Marine Corps. I have had similar training and the way he restrained Neely is familiar to me. I wonder if anyone had dialed 911 while this was on going and exactly what the response time for the NY Transit Polcie actually was. Unless transit officers were nearby I can imagine it probably took 5 to 10 minutes for the first Transit cops to arrive. Because it was in on a subway train the police would have to respond on foot. This time frame can feel like eternity when one is restraining a violent and combative suspect. Based upon what Penny went through I do not believe many will be eager to get involved if a similar incident were to occurr in the future. -

I do not know the use of force policy for the Minneapolis Police Department but putting a knee on a suspect's neck is not an approved restraint technique in my old department. I have never heard of such technique being taught at any police academy. -

To some my thoughts on this issue are not relevant. Others automatically assuemd I am going to defend or support Chauvin. I have encountered some like Chauvin. Any police department in a medium or large sized city have guys like Chauvin. In police work seniority carries a lot of weight. But in the end if a fellow officer is wrong and not safe one has to act or at the least say something out loud. -

You may be right. I have seen experienced officers "zone" or check out on several high stress calls. -
Was Ex police officer Derek Chauvin wrongly convicted !
sqwakvfr replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
I do not believe so. 1) He had his knee on Floyd's neck for nine minutes. 2) He had three backup officers. Floyd was phsycially bigger than Chauvin and if he did not have backup then the circumstances could have been different. But what do I know becasue I was a street cop in LA for only 20 years. Ironically Chauvin had 19 years on the job and was the senior officer on the call with Floyd. I can tell the less experienced offciers were hesitant to tell Chauvin to back off and see if Floyd complies. Chauvin will be eligible for parole in 2038. He be almost 60 years old -
What is your life improvements in Thailand

Today I saw two ambulances with lights and sirens stuck in traffic. The second ambulance driver was honking his horn as well and possibly had a critical patient in the back. It took about 5 minutes before any of the vehicles in front started moving to the side so the the ambulance could at least creep up a little. I hope not to be in an ambulance with a life threatening medical emergency. Oh what the heck I would probably be half way to purgatory before any ambulance actually arrived at my place. Ok. It just doesn't matter if an ambulance actually arrives. -
No. She can certainly get a job at UC Berkeley. At least Berkeley has never pretended to be anything but what it is and has been. Plenty of opportunities for the likes of Verdugo at many places of "higher" education in the Golden State. Remember Governor Gavin wants to spend $25 million to Trump proof California. But Gavin said a few months ago that the State of California has a almost $40 billion budget deficit. "Truth is stranger than fiction". Especially in California.

Is there anything good about getting old?
sqwakvfr replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yeah but when I was working and trying to date women in America all three applied. One of the benefits of meeting and dating women in LOS is that they don't have to like or even be impressed by you. -

Foreign Pilot Approval Raises Concerns for Thai Aviation
sqwakvfr replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You are 100% right. I saw a documentary about a Korean Air B747 crash in Guam many years ago. The much younger FO stayed quiet whie the senior Captain was flying the insturment approach on a rainy night. In the end the Captain screwed up and crashed attempting the approach. -
Foreign Pilot Approval Raises Concerns for Thai Aviation
sqwakvfr replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Is the concern wet lease of protecting jobs for Thai pilots? In many parts of Asia it is not uncommon for a foriegn pilot to be in the flight deck. Next time anyone flies Cathay Pacific there is good chance the FO or Captaion is foreiign. I believe even Korean Air has a small number of foreign pilots. In due time Thailand based airlines will have 100% Thai aircrew. Until then it is not a big deal.
