@Manicminer - I couldn't get a 1 year multiple entry visa either, although my employer and lwayers had asked for one, KL just gave me 90 days single, and so of course I have to renew. Her's one option, and a friend of mine (American) does this every year, he has a Thai fiancee but lives in Malaysia....and he gets a one year multiple everytime!
Get two UK passports (the embassy should issue you with that), then fly cheap cheap to Penang or Phnom Penh - wherever, with both your passports. The one with the exit stamp from Thailand you DHL or FedEx to a mate in the UK, you give them the form with necessary photos and money and they post internally to the Hull consulate. Meanwhile you fly into Thailand with your second passport. When first passport is ready in the UK get it DHLed to an address overseas, go and pick it up and then enter Thailand with your new 1 year visa attached. My friend has been doing this for 3 years - just an option.
The problem with this method is that you are in Thailand when the visa is issued, that is not allowed.
You could post from another country to a friend and then they apply, and then post to you. it would entail a stay of a week or more, and cost a fair bit in delivery charges.

As Mario2008 said, obtain a re-entry permit,(1.000 baht)from immigration, which would allow you to re-entry with your original 'allowed to stay' stamp, which would have been 60 days from your first entry, then obtain a 30day extension (1.900 baht) again from immigration, when that stamp nears its end,do a border run to use your 2nd entry of the 2 entry tourist visa, and again a 30 days extension if required giving you a 6 month stay in Thailand.
have a good trip

There have been other reports of a three entry tourist visa being issued at hull.

Self deploy crash air-bags on the deck around high rise condos, especially in Pattaya.
Frequent users “fine discount cards” for police bogus fines. Say! 40% off.
but would the crash air bags be for the Thais or for the falang that 'fall' out of high rise buildings

As you will both have to leave to get new visas at the end of October, why not go to Vientianne, you could obtain a double entry tourist visa, which are free at the moment. That would you give about 6 months here (with 1 border run, and 2 trips to immigration), and time to sort out your future plans.

I hope that the company is bought by a new face that will keep Carrefour as it is, or even expand the products, it would be sad to see the larger range of western type products that Carrefour offers, reduced to a smaller range as offered in tesco and big c.

You apply up to 30 days before the permission to stay ends, so 12 months after entry. By applying early you won't lose any days, as the extension starts from the day your current permission ends.
But an important question is if you have a single or a multiple O-A visa. With a multiple you can just leave the country before the VISA expires and return to Thailand to get another 1 year. Just look at the VISA, does it say multiple or M?
Are you sure about that? I have never heard of anyone getting another one year when re-entering Thailand. If this were so then none of us would have to do extensions every year, it would be easier to do a border run. Less hassle and no need to show proof of income or money in the bank.
The maximum allowed would be 2 years on a multi entry 'O-A' visa, and the last entry, to get a one year allowed to stay stamp, would have to be made at the latest one day before expiry of the visa. Do not confuse visas with permission to stay stamps.
-
The other option would be, applying for a 60 day extension when your current stay is almost finished,as both litebeer and lopburi3 suggest, but instead of obtaining another extension of stay at the end of the 60days, obtain a multi entry non immigrant 'o' visa from Kuala Lumper. You would only need 100.000baht in your bank for that, but would have to do 90 day border runs though, but the visa would last 15 months nearly, by doing a border run the day before the visa expires.

Hi Richieudon
If you go to Myanmar you will not need a full page visa, as they only put a small entry and exit stamp.
If you are after a UK passport, they are applied for by post, no need to go to Embassy.
-
Just before coming to Thailand get a one year multi entry non immigrant 'o' visa from Hull, that will give you 90 days on each entry, and if you re-enter just before the visa expires, will last for about 15 months, that will give you time, to sort out how to remain here in the future.

point 1 - someone who is 100% sure can answer
point 2- if you are in the country for 90 days you have to report, simple
-
You could use that visa on the 13th October say, and obtain another 90 day entry stamp, which would allow you to remain here about the 10th January ish.
-
not to be negative but - you have already set up the company, and now you are asking about work permits, should you have not done that first. Thailand is a real stickler for rules about working, and work permits will be needed. see here - and search results here - http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=search&do=search&fromMainBar=1

To get a 1 year non immigrant multi entry 'o' visa at hull, as already said download the information pack, its all on there, £100.00 plus another £10.00 for personal attendance, an appointment has to be made, but the visa is issued there and then. Three days if by special delivery mail, Send Monday get back Wednesday.

Good luck to the sailors of the Royal Thai Navy, and may they do a good job of keeping the waters safe.

easy solution since you are out of job, come here!
I agree, its coming up to winter in the UK, lock up the house, get someone to check on it and get over here for 6 months, get a multi entry non immigrant from hull, spend more time with the girlfriend, build up lots of photo's and stuff, that would be another 6 months of building up her bank balance and work record. Enjoy the winter over here. and if you are both in the same frame of mind, then re-apply next year.
Don't rush into another application, time will help.

Get a multi entry 'o' it will do for 6 months over christmas,2x 90day entries, you will then be able to use it up until its expiry date of one year, entry before the expiry date will give you an entry of 90 days, making the visa last for 15 months, just get the visa as close to your departure date as you can, as the 1 year starts the day it is issued. each entry is valid for 90 days, then a border run is required.

If you applying in person, you have to make an appointment, and there is a charge of £10.00

For UK passport holders, Hong Kong cancel the old passport as soon as they receive the application, but the old passport is retained, when the new one is received the corners have to be cut off the old one.
