  1. As far as I could see this web is only for games they have on, not for running apps of your choosing.
  2. Set up my laptop for the VM and downloaded relevant files. Downloaded the Amazon App Store and it works fine. Apps I downloaded through the Amazon Store work fine as well (a simple browser). However, as there are not many interesting apps in that store, I also installed both WSA Tools and ADB so I can sideload APK's from other sources. The apps were installed fine, but for some reason they cannot connect to the internet so useless. Anyone here ever came across this problem? Any ideas for a fix? Thanks.
  3. Why don't you ask one of them in person?
  4. That doesn't change the fact that they own it and decide how much to charge. I know that over 25 years ago they charged USD400 landing fee for small airplanes (ie Cessna 150\170) while government owned airports (including DMK which at the time was the only airport in Bangkok) charged 400 THB. they own a couple of other airports in Thailand and it's the same story there.
  5. Strange. HM practiced and got his licence on B747. Those cannot land at Samui airport due to length of the runway... HM used to practice landings at Utapao airport. As for TG flying to Samui, I already mentioned in another reply that this was a condition set by the government in order to approve the extension of the runway to accommodate PG's (not BA) small jets (they started with B717 back then, but the runway could only accommodate their propellor airplanes). As for building a 2nd airport - makes no sense at all. Someone mentioned JFK and EWR and the 2 airports in SFO as an example for nearby airports. While that is true, the actual point is that those airports serve a much bigger area and a much bigger load of passengers whereas Samui airport serves mainly Samui Island and maybe a little bit of Koh Tao and panghgan
  6. They actually own the airport and charge hefty landing fees from anyone who wants to fly into Samui. Many years ago when they had to extend the runway so their jets can land there the government conditioned the approval by them allowing Thai airways to fly to Samui and for a while TG actually had 2 daily flights but prices were higher than Bangkok airways. To the OP: BA is the signcall for British airways. Bangkok airways is PG
  7. Paid about 1m with a bank's draft at the land office few years ago, tax was paid on cash. Chanot was amended and given back with my name on it on the spot. BTW, the money was in my bank account in BKK and I was in CM at the time. I transferred the money to my account in CM through internet banking with no costs at all. Only sum above the 1m limit was charged some commission.
  8. This reporter is very naive if he thinks there are going to be 2 prime ministers after his release. There's only 1 now (Taksin) and he's going to continue ruling as he has been doing throughout the tenoir of all governments formed by his parties since 2001.
  9. There's no lack of regulations, only lack of enforcement. The regulations say who can\can't smoke (under 20 years old, pregnant and nursing women) and that smoking in public places is not allowed. So if people smoke in public places they should be stopped. Simple enough.
  10. You're wrong. Verbal agreements are legally binding for all, Thai or non Thai
  11. The verbal agreement was for a second year, not the first. In Thailand a verbal agreement is regarded as a contact.
  12. Namping. They have several branches, 2 in sansai, 1 in hanging and few more
  13. That's been in practice for at least a few years now. When I officially moved to a new province I asked to update my "gold card" and was told they don't need\use the cards any longer and the id is enough. all I had to do was to go to the nearest public hospital to where I live and ask to be registered there
  14. I don't drink so I really don't care about the hours\days of alcohol bans. However, I do find the bans reticules as anyone who wants to drink during those days\hours can simply buy in advance. And the idiotic reason for lifting the ban on order to increase tourism.... In my opinion any tourist that will decide to visit Thailand only because now s\he can buy alcohol between 2 and 5pm is not worthy of any consideration.
  15. That is up to the specific dealer. Some do and done don't. However, they won't accept full payment by cc as it costs them money. The most I was able to pay by cc was 50k with no extra charge
  16. Actually I never thought tax will be charged, but as I haven't seen any threads about it since the beginning of the year I thought I'll check what happened with it
  17. Has anyone here transferred money into Thailand since January 1st? Are taxes really being charged?
  18. Sure. Like her big brother. Private suite at the police hospital...
  19. The reasons for the difference are 1. The land department only re-evaluate every so often, usually every few years (in 1 specific area I know it's every 5 years, might be different in other places). Market value fluctuates according to supply\demand. 2. The official valuation is for the land only, without considering what's on the land, thus an empty plot and a plot with mature plantation are estimated at the same price, whereas the market value takes into consideration what's on the land.
