  1. Just to add a note to help my eloquent (mixer) friend:

Should anyone wish to add their photo - as I have just done - visit the gallery from the link above; click on the drop down menu where it is written "admin options" and click on "add photo"; browse your own hard drive to find your photo and upload it.

Good man, and i dont want anyone with a name starting before bambinas. You couldnt get a better advert for the new gallery, than a pic of a half naked bird flashing her bits. Thanks bambi :o:D Very artistic as well in sepia tones

  2. We hope to return to the UK, from our summer visit to LOS, with my wife's niece.

It is our intention she will work in our house as an au pair/nanny for six months (or longer, if this is possible).

What documentation do we need, to ensure she has the correct visa for this length of stay in the UK?

Are there any delays in issuing this type of visa, of which we should be aware?

Are there any other requirements we need to fulfil e.g. return ticket etc.?

We, of course, will be supporting her throughout her stay.

good question mate, i would like to know the same, apart from it is my wifes sister. No point starting another topic, same question :o

  3. I own a Panasonic nv-gs11, and have done for awhile now, unfortunately it didnt come with any softwae that i can use to edit the movies i have made. It cam with some softwae that can be used to save the pictures it can take, but no video editing. Does anyone know of any free software that i can use to edit these movies? i have all the usb leads for my pc but no software. I need something basic as well, as video editing is new to me, i have always been a 35mm or digi man, and would love to spend some time playing with my cam :o heres a pic of camera if thats any help :D

    Nice job.

Reminds me of the old maxim, "The camera never lies, but the photographer can."

Much easier with today's computer tools.

Thanks, yeah was very easy, took about 5 minutes literally. :D

What photo package did you use for that? Know anywhere i could obtain said package :D

  5. vandalising Gatso cameras has become an underground activity for gangs of youths in the uk, they steal dynamite from quarry's and explode the boxes.

    good luck to them!

    more at : http://www.speedcam.co.uk/welcome.htm

Nothing wrong with a bit of m.a.d :o

Those Bristol cameras are about a mile from my house. They have a normal gatso, then the tall one on a post and then sometimes they have a speed camera car after that, and sometimes before those cameras, so in theory you could speed for 2 miles and be banned, nice :D

  6. congrats on the baby...!...we are expecting our first in june...so i may need to bend an ear on baby tips....all over a pint a guinness mind u....lol

  11. Thanks for the suggestions. I think i am just being difficult, i am a bit of a squash freak, as i dont drink anything else. My mates try and test me, they make me a glass of squash and i can usually tell what brand it is and if it is sugar free or not. Sad ehhh :o

  13. Maybe we could start a album with a picture of each member that wants to contribute and then pin it for all to see.Because as with all topics eventually it will get lost in the depths of hundreds of pages never to be seen again :D

    Good idea, Daleyboy! :D .....Mods...????

    LaoPo

Surely that is what the photo spot on your personal profile is for :D

    TBWG :o

Bit of an effort though to keep looking at profiles, easier if we are all in one place and you can just click through loads of pics at the same time :D

ok i will start an album up and post all the pics from here in there, unless anyone doesnt want me too.

  14. Hello fellow members, will be entering Sakaeo in July for a week or so, anybody live around this area fancy catching up for a few drinks? Going to have a minivan so i will be mobile. The wifes family live in a moo baan about 25 minutes from chao chagan(sp) so anywhere around this area would be good :o

  15. Hi Daleyboy,

Can't help with the directions to Sakeao, or where to get a Mercedes minivan, but I can heartily endorse your plan to leave the city early.

Whenever I'm heading upcountry, I usually leave Bangkok around 5 AM. This gets you past the airport and well out of the city before sunrise and the traffic starts pumping in the city. The roads leaving the city are usually empty, and any traffic you see is going the other way into the city.

As an added advantage, you will arrive at your upcountry destination in the early afternoon, in time to have a late lunch and enjoy the rest of the day. If I leave at 5 AM, it is easily possible to get to Chiang Mai by 2 PM. This way, it doesn't feel like a whole day lost to travelling.

5 AM is sufficiently early to get out of the city. If you left at 3 AM, it is possible that you will encounter a lot of 18 wheelers / commercial trucks, which tend to travel in the night hours.

Driving in Bangkok is no big deal. Being that you are from the UK, you will be familiar with driving on the left. (this took me a while to get adjusted to...) Most of the time the downtown traffic is so bad that you are crawling. Provided that you are not in a hurry to get anywhere, this is relatively easy and stress free.

    Enjoy yr trip...... :D

Thanks for the advice. 5am sounds better than 3am without a doubt, when we take a taxi it nornally takes abour 3 hours to the wifes, so we will actually be in time for brekkie. :D

Quick check....can also try Hertz-Avis -Alamo etc and if you fly Thai or have any privilage card number you could probably get a further discount....

Nice one thanks for that mate. They all seem to be round this price, would you reccommend a bigger firm like avis, alamo etc, or do you know of any smaller local firms that would be just as good? Also do you know what differnt types of insurance are available and which one would be best?

I have only ever hired m/bikes and never had any of this hassle, it was just turn up, agree on any damage pay a deposit and away you go. Ohh to be young and single :o

  16. Does anyone have reccomendations for car rentals that i can pick up from bkk airport? I am going to need a minibus as there will be 7 of us travelling. I want to pick it up at the airport as i dont fancy driving through too much Bangkok traffic. The best price i have been able to find over the net is about £196 for a week.

I have looked for somewhere that rents the slightly posher mercedes vans, but cant find any anywhere, anybody know where i can find them? I am also wondering what type of insurance is best?

And one other question, could anyone give me some directions from the airport to Sakeao, which is East of Bangkok on the way to Cambodia.

I was going to go by train but it is a 5 hour journey in 3rd class, cant go by bus as they dont have seat belts for a child seat so this is my only other option, honestly how bad is it driving in Bangkok? I drive low loaders in the uk but i have really never fancied driving round bkk. I am thinking that we will leave at like 3am in order to miss the traffic, but if i do this then i am assuming that i will have to ge the motor delivered to the hotal the day before because i am sure the rental offices wont be open at that time of the morning. :o

  17. You could also use a hosting service like image shack. All you do is open their page, click on browse choose your picture, click on host it, it then gives you several options, i always use the hotlink for forums link. Copy that and paste it into your post, that way there are no thumbs to click on. Here is an example of both, the first one is using the add attachment function and the second is image shack

My personal preferance is the second option :o

  18. I've got a police post box - only costs 500 Baht/month :D But we are out in the sticks a bit :D

I've also got a Golden Retriever (4 legged guard). Bought a book on Goldens - first piece of advice: 'Don't buy a Golden if you want a guard dog!'. Thanks a million. :D She's very brave at barking at the street dogs when she's inside and they're outside. When I take her for a walk she runs a mile. She welcomes all visitors with a waggy tail and a smile - Thai, farang, burglers, police - she never discriminates with her affections - what a nice dog. :D

Same with our golden lab in the uk. You could hear him barking from 5 streets away, but open the door and you were more likely to get licked into submission than bitten into submission. :o

  19. In the jobs section there is a topic about some girl who is looking for a job.

All i said was where you live?? and it got deleted, then i asked why it got deleted and then it got deleted again??

    whats with that.

I have a feeling a few mods dont like me very much, because ive had quite a few posts deleted

Maybe they got the feeling you were prowling. :D

Where i come from its called stalking :o
