It's the misinformation coming from the internet...I'm not sure if it's just the organic growth of negativity caused by algorithms and AI searching for more clicks or a more sinister plot to destroy society ...to whose benefit I don't know. But COVID and the internet have changed how people behave towards each other . -
Indian passengers turn Thai AirAsia plane into party zone - video
bwanajohn replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I've been a frequent visitor to India since the early 1970's. Anyone from India or familiar with India and Indian men would not be surprised or outraged at this. Total disregard for the effect of their behavior on the people around them It's a normal behaviour for a huge segment of the male population there . Me me me. -

I agree with General Chaos ,I've personal known of more than one case where the courts found that the although the farang partner could of course not have ownership of property when things went south he was entitled to be compensated under the ,50/50 rule and when evidence showed that all or most of the money came from the farang partner more that was taken into consideration as well.

From using an agent to self renewal of visa
bwanajohn replied to JammG's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I have a retirement visa and my wife a dependent visa .We hired a lawyer for the initial visa during covid and then have done it ourselves since. In Chiang Mai it has been a pleasant and easy experience..We speak a bit of Thai and live in a fairly remote part of Chiang mai province so we stay a night in a hotel and the immigration people have actually sped the process up so we could get home in time to feed the dogs and not drive in the dark . -

Thai PM Faces Conflict Claims Over Real Estate Policy Change
bwanajohn replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It does make sense to address the ability of foreign buyers to work and contribute to the country they can buy property and live in.Otherwise you will end up with a lot of old retirees and people who are willing to bend or break the law to earn a living here .I realize there are legitimate ways to work and invest here but none of them give any long-term confidence or the ability to feel safe .I don't believe even permanent residency gives you and automatic right to work or own land or own more than 49% of a business.Without changes to those policies foreigners are not encouraged to buy. I also think it would improve the quality of applicants. -
