Best way to self-pay for operation
It cost 20 baht for a cashier s, check ,largest I ve ever got was 5 million baht.If you have an account number for the hospital a transfer is free. The scanning method works great but I have a beard and have had no luck with facial recognition. It says please remove face covering. When I set facial recognition originally with Bkk bank it took probably 19 tries to get it right and it's never worked for over 50,000 baht. I think I need my beard trimmed to exactly the length it was in the original photo .

Advice on leaving a car parked up for a long time
I ve been living cars for long periods for 40 years...without issue I disconnect the battery ,but make sure if you close the bonnet you have a key that allows you to open the door and access the bonnet release when there is no electric. And as I learned in 2024 in Chiang Mai make sure the car is parked on high ground. My pick up sat in metre of water for a day or two beforeit was rescued.

Solid life in Canada
Canada is a wonderful country and I love the idea that I can return anytime I want, but I don't need a job and the healthcare is great, especially if you live in or near fairly large population centres. The healthcare in Thailand is also great especially for getting things done that are not life threatening,no waiting lists and lots of times I would pay more for parking at a hospital in Canada than the hospital charges here .And then there is the climate .

Bangkok Bank mobile banking transfer limits
Limit for my mbanking with Bkk is set a 200k but anything over 50k I have to do a face scan at the time of transaction. I cut my beard hard back every -4 to 6 weeks. The scan only works if my beard is with in a week or two being trimmed otherwise I keep being told to remove face covering.I suppose that's related to original picture or passports photo.

British Groom Denied Thailand Flight Over Damaged Passport
I'm waiting for the first story that has someone being refused service because facial recognition software doesn't recognize them as being who they are.I notice my banking app that uses facial recognition doesn't recognize me if I ve left my beard untrimmed for 3 to 4 weeks if Im making an over 50,000 baht transaction.Tells me to remove face covering.

Have you ever felt unsafe in Thailand
I've been here for 40 years.Have had 3 incidences of violence, none specifically directed at me.The first was in a upstairs bar in Patpong .Husband or boyfriend of one the ladies working there was beating on the woman. I interfered and manage to redirect his anger and him towards the door and he went flying out and down the stairs.Immediately surrounded by worried staff who give me VIP membership card and basically told me I was and idiot and to be very careful when I left in case he was waiting for me armed with a knife or worse. 2nd time was in Chiang Mai ,we we were stopped on a small road off loading Thai friends in front of their house .Beside the house was narrow lane running beside their house perpendicular to the road where were on.From behind, out of nowhere a Motorbike came screaming down the road swerved out and around our car and turned down the lane, immediately behind it was a car in hot pursuit. The car slammed on the brakes as they came around our vehicle ,two Thai guys leaped out and started shooting over our cars hood at the fleeing motorcycle.3 or 4 shots as the motorcycle was disappearing and then back in their car and gone. The whole episode over in about 10 seconds and we were left staring at each other going what **"* just happened. The last one was in a bar in Chiang Mai when two out of control American DEA guys decided they wanted my wife and I's seats.Pulled my pony tail and started up the usual macho bull <deleted>.My wife managed to calm me and them down and we left .A couple days later my wife who left the bar last as we filed out told me one of the guys give her a light slap on the face as she glared at them when we left.Wife is a clever women and knew the best thing was to not bring it to my attention. One of them was a big guy. A few days later the two DEA guys got in another more serious altercation at the bar beer centre boxing place. And ultimately were removed from the country by the US consulate people. Apparently they were posted to Thailand because of bad behaviour in Columbia.I know this cuz an American friend was one of the people involved at the boxing place and ended up having a representative from the consulate come to his house to apologize and try to smooth things over.

Xiaomi phones, anyone using them ?
I've had 3 Redmi note 7pro,Redmi Note ,10 pro Note 14 prox2 The note 7 s I bought two before Covid one for me ,one for my wife.Absolutely bullet proof phones was really impressed,I used my up until 18 months ago ,just give it away a couple days ago still works brilliantly though needs a decent battery ,I replaced original battery after 3 years. The one my wife used until a month ago that's about 6 years still works great ,battery is needing replacement.Very impressed. The Note 10 was a POS..Screen held on buy scotch tape after less than a year ,overheated constantly ,just crappy build. Wife wanted a better camera and I wanted a better phone so bought two Note 14 pro about a month ago.So far so good .Camera is excellent, battery charges quick .Light weight but feels solid.I don't like the USB earphone thing ,as you can't charge if you are using earphone.Note 10 was the same. The note 15 with leica camera components would have to be exceptionally impressive to make me want to spend the extra compared.to Note 14.Both are 200mp.

Best to get tested...could be only clymidia (sp) or both If you are having unprotected sex getting a syphilis test and HIV test is an excellent idea. I have a buddy in Canada...74 years old got syphilis twice in the last year...It go quite common again in some circles.

Will new 50k max bank transfer impact 65k for Immi?
Isn't the 50 k limit just on mobile banking. Bangkok bank told me that just a few days ago. Transfers to established recipients was 2million.
