  1. There is quite a lot of paperwork to file each time and a long time to wait to get documents checked and accepted. It isn't exactly the best use of your time...
  2. Previously I worked for a non-BOI/IEAT sponsored company and got my work permit from labour department in Din Daeng. Even I asked for 1 year they gave me 2 year extensions. I was doing it by myself. There was nothing special required. So 2 years you can definitely get, but I've never seen more than that. EDIT: Just thinking... at that time I was under consideration for PR. Not sure that had anything to do with it, though.
  3. Getting some hand in the past doesn't make you handsome, Gamma...
  4. No idea. Lawyer made it sound like it was the end of the World.
  5. Was just thinking... if Turkey is now Türkiye, is Monkey now Mönkiye?
  6. Darn, people used to live long those days!
  7. In my case I got it rejected by the 1 stop center for visa and work permit. Was doing work permit extension and mixed up files when sending documents up-front to be verified, so on appointment day it only takes like 15 minutes to complete... I got concerned call back saying they could not extend it because my photo is same as last year. Had to send them new one before they would accept paperwork. Funny though - as they don't put that photo on digital work permit anyway but take a new photo of you right there...
  8. You could take a photo of yourself with your mobile and print it out on a photo printer like Canon Selphy, which prints with wax and creates laminated photos just like a proper photo shop. Alternatively if you really like old photo, you could take a photo of it or scan it and then crop and print it out... but be careful reusing photos as they must all be less than 3? 6? months old and if they see that you've used it before, your application might be rejected. Remember someone who had extension of stay cancelled for trying to reuse a year old photo in application.
  9. And this is probably Thailand's biggest problem.
  10. Pattaya and Phuket have lots of places with filled out foreign quotas, in Bangkok very few in Silom/Sathorn/upper Sukhumvit area, but most others are below 20%. So yes, it won't make much of a difference, except for Chinese and Russians wanting to buy a condo in Phuket or Pattaya.
  11. Pretty much all the Thais in my circle own condos, some houses, actually some have both or several condos that they rent out. But what is common to all (and me) is that we bought those at the times when the interest rates were fixed at 2-3% per year, while now they are considerably higher, so I don't know anyone wanting to buy a new place now, but several are trying to refinance their loans to get lower interest. It is quite an arrogant statement that Thais can't afford to buy their own homes. And probably less true than me stating that most Aussies cannot afford to buy their own place in Sydney or often can't even afford to rent it.
  12. Now you're making things up. No way you have a Thai girlfriend.
  13. Kitten? Feline? The thing he's playing with on the photo at the top?
  14. I'm still reading your garbage, so apparently not yet. 30 years+ And that breakfast on the top is Vietnamese, not Thai.
  15. Actually it isn't about craftsmanship. Rolexes are machine made, not hand made. But this is why quantities produced are higher and waiting times shorter than say Patek. The rest is all down to their marketing. Most Swiss automatic watches use ETA/ETERNA movement anyway, with Rolex having only minor modifications to original design, so internally they are basically identical to other Swiss Made brands. And who owns ETA? Well, Swatch. So basically by buying Rolex or Longines or Tag Heuer or Breitling or .... you're buying a Swatch in a nice case. But yes, it feels nice (albeit heavy) on wrist. To me, Rolex 40mm cases look too small now, so I prefer Tag and Breitling at 44mm, or a Seiko (also based on ETA Calibre 5/Calibre 16) which is modified in a way that it doesn't snap the spring if manually wound too far, and can change day/date in any position of crown, very unlike original (or Rolex) movement, where it can only be changed in very specific positions. Not a bad taste to have a Rolex. You can take MRT train in Hong Kong and vast majority wears genuine Submariners. They are HK's favourite graduation gift. You'll find something similar in Singapore.
  16. Given it's Date Just, at least you could set it to correct date and take another shot. So we know the photo is real also.
  17. I see you are either 3 days ahead of all of us, or a month behind... It's not a very popular model for fakes, though, most go after Submariner or Daytona, though.
  18. Really? Doubt it. Take a photo from 15m and show us.
  19. Most people in Bangkok would think your Rolex is fake so nobody would bother stealing it.
  20. I can't... looks like a giraffe or maybe a crocodile or something...
  21. I think there was 7-11 there and the fridges inside certainly look like that. Haven't been there in ages, but that's sad. Means something caught fire in shop that has staff 24/7 yet they still couldn't save it. Wonder what caught fire to spread so quickly...
