Happening everywhere. ATMs are disappearing, branches are closing, banking is moving to mobile phones and internet banking sites. But if that National Digital ID, apparently required for banking spreads to mobile transactions, non-Thais would have very limited banking options left.

The rest I agree with but the highlighted bit: It was Thai, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and many others that flew over Ukraine just before Malaysia Airlines got shot down. Additionally, Qatar flights from Doha to US were flying over Russia just months back, during Russian invasion of Ukraine, but have since rerouted to fly over Saudi Arabia and Israel, following warming of relations in the Middle East. Yes, I had it for years. Honestly I prefer the booklet. This is a DWP application for a phone, where you're given password and then use the ... was it email address? I think it was email address... and that password to register in the app. It's a 2 page WP lookalike with a QR code that keeps changing. If you scan that code it takes you to labour ministry website and shows all the details to print out. But it's a hassle as many places want a paper one, and then on changing phone, all settings are gone and you need to re-register it. You can't use Pink ID to check into flight if ticket carries name in Latin. Was told this by a friend who tried to use it, but could eventually find his passport. I got the same in their FAQ and proceeded to close my account. Question I have is whether this NDID would become mandatory to make transactions on regular bank accounts? If yes, that would be a major hassle.

Same here alas applied years ago. Maybe it's a random thing but I know several who applied, even just 1-2 years ago, and none ever got any visit. Not that we'd know, anyway. Maybe they only visit if something looks fishy in the documents provided at application?
