  1. You dont like the army ,ok Why choose Thailand to live ? Do not worry about block chain when 90 percent of the population have no idea what it means
  2. Can only be driven from morning to dusk . Tell them to get the correct plates before payment for the car or forget the sale
  3. I suggest you speak for your self regarding the usefullness of others on this site . There are many that contribute in a positive way not just Ubon Joe . However there are many in the same profession as Ubon Joe have a lot to learn .
  4. Ubon Joe as I new him on Thai Visa and now Asia Now was a man I had respect for . His knowledge on the Thai Immigration rules was deep and varied . He was of great help to myself on a number of times and once quite recently . He also came over as a gentleman in my view . A comment i have made to people over many years is I only have faith in comments made from Ubon Joe . Now he is gone and there are a few that can well take over from him yet i think it will take some time for that to happen . Sorry to know of your death Joe
  5. I believe you are correct , it appears to be a buyer beware product . With some policies there is a stipulation of a maximum engine size of 125 cc , therefore you rent a 150 cc motorcycle you could be in problems .
  6. Travel insurance tourists take out from there home country often stipulate the use of motorcycles are not covered .
  7. If you rent a bike as a tourist you are offered the same miserable amount of government insurance which amounts to around 35000 baht if you are at fault as a Thai . That amount would be gone overnight if you were to be taken to a private hospital . There is a higher amount on offer if the accident was proven that you were not at fault . Tourist or a Thai National it is the same . Most tourist are uninsured when mounting a motorcycle license or no license due to the contract they agree too . Be careful out there when giving out false information . I doubt if the young man will ever be normal again but I hope i am wrong .
  8. The celtic fans latest view on royalty comes to mind
  9. Seems a regular occurance foreigners going crazy through use of legal drugs in Thailand recently . The landlord could try sending a invoice for the broken fixtures to Anutin .
  10. Thailand is cheap compared to the west and will continue to be for many years IMHO . I agree with the comment on the photo . Bad choice . Need 100 k of what ? If you mean US dollars very few foreigners living in Thailand would have that much money available . A place to retreat would be ideal ,but i do not believe there would be many that have that luxury . I am not sure of the percentage of foreigners with health insurance . I would say about the same number of foreigners living in Thailand with 100 k in the bank and a place to retreat . I have patience for all people that do not interfere with my life . If a person chooses to live here with no insurance , no money in the bank , no escape plan then that is up to them
  11. Gold price is looking expensive and the US dollar is looking undervalued. That's my guess .
  12. Problem with a minimum wage many employees think that's all they need to pay. Just a small percentage are paid a minimum wage in most countries.
  13. Just say the Brazilian coast as they have no western coast . Norway is a country with around 5 million people providing clean air for most due to the low industrial level of the country .
  14. Cheap skate pensionists living of the back of the low cost of living here in Thailand would be packing there bags to sponge of some other under developed country . Not a problem
  15. The Uk is not bad for quality of air where i was raised in the south west of London . Mainly due to the constant changing of the weather i think . I lived in Australia for many years and remember mostly Sydney for the bad air waiting for a thiunder storm to clear the air . Best place i lived in for air quality was Norway on the north west coast . I lived there 28 years and i am sure my lungs have had less damage as a result . Now i live in Thailand and the air quality perhaps the worst i have experianced . Most of the year acceptable yet for a few months unacceptable . I wash the bad air down with chang and so far so good . Quality of life is more important than longevity .
  16. Breaking in is for horses and running in is for an engine . Best to not use all the rpm available for the first 2000 km
  17. What you explain makes sense . Thank you for the explanation.
  18. The top jobs go to the well off . Thank you for your reply
  19. I spoke with a us citizen and a UK citizen at the driving test centre in Chiang Mai and they informed me that they were forced to take the complete driving test even though they could produce a current driving licence from there country .
  20. I have read that Thailand has the worst pensions in southeast Asia and considering they have the second best economy in the region does not give confidence now or after the election for any improvement. I hope the young woman you mentioned has found gainful employment.
  21. Thai immigration will tell you of the consequences of you crossing the border , yet they will not stop you . Been there and done that
  22. You will be refused entry at Mai Sai if you have had two land border entries this year . The immigration officers will inform you on the way out if you will meet problems coming back which gives you a chance to make alternative choices . From the information you have given your best way out is to apply for a two month tourist visa at the Thai Consulate in Vientiani . You will need financial proof of funds .
