    Perhaps the ex prime minister imprisoned has contracted tuberculosis or HIV like so many prisoners do in Thai jail's. One can well understand the concerns of the jail administrators.

    After having read all the replies I am surprised that not one has mentioned the quality of the mattress provided for there 550 or 950 per night accomadation . I have taken note that in most hotels etc in Thailand have had a rock hard mattress to give you a sleepless night for your money .

    Is the story really News ? I do not think so. Thousands upon thousands are on overstay in Thailand and most probably longer than the chap from India.

    Daily earnings ?? Daily turnover perhaps a better choice . Good to read of the woman earning much more money than her teacher salary yet a lot more work involved .

    I agree that the choice of location for crossing the busy road in the rain does seem unwise to say the least . However that does not give license to run the people down . Again evidence of the dangerous attitude to pedestrians by Most Thai drivers .

    You engineer a roof to withstand any weather condition known in the locality . Obviously the engineering design is at fault and not the rain .

    They need to curb the outflow of baht overseas to gain the access of higher interest available . Interest paid by banks on deposits in Thailand can not be sustainable in a free market .

    Consumer or discrimination law as well no doubt . Demanding a customer to leave the restuarant for political reasons may not comply with law in Iceland .
