  1. Had to wear long pants , shoes and of course a mask . I agree , very amusing experiance made more stressful wit the extreme heat
  2. Many accidents causing death on motorcycles are caused by cars and trucks being driven badly . If you cant reverse a car that speaks volumes for driving forward at what ever speed .
  3. Tough luck for the British tax payer as well. That is why society makes rules to avoid that happening .
  4. We all must take responsability for our actions but if they do not the society has to pay through the nose for there folly . Hence the need for making a motorcycle hire business be sure the renter has a license .
  5. That should be the case for sure .Refuse to pay until you see an itemised invoice .
  6. I took a driving test in Thailand very recently and now I can see why there is so much bad driving in the country . First was the written exam where you choose one of four answers . That was very easy and completed two sets of 50 questions . One for a car license and the second for a motorcycle license . I completed both in around 40 minutes and passed . Motorcycle test was a ball of confusion as there is no explanation in english . Just follow the other guy says the man in charge . That all went well thankfully although rather stressed about the whole business on a very hot afternoon . Then came the driving test in the car and it was very confusing what was happening . I was watching many reverse parking and i can say with confidence i would not give one of the many i witnessed a license . If a person is allowed out on the roads with the ability that they showed when reversing i can well understand why there is so many deaths on the roads in Thailand . I failed my test because i went over two parallel white lines in the road when stopping . OK , very dumb of me ,but i have seen that most thai drivers place the back wheels on the stop line when stopping . Have a new try in a few days at the driving test that is instrumental in so many deaths on the roads .
  7. Of course I have to agree with your comment . If Thailand wishes to progress as a progressive country changes need to be made . That is one that could make a difference to many unfortunate enough to be involved with an accident and be refused insurance as they had no licence . Of course not forgetting the inexperienced riders that are killed or badly injured .
  8. We are all forced to be thrill seekers even if we don't want to be . The roads are adequate, the quality of driving is far from it . Regarding the motorcycle test it was a joke from start to finnish. The joke continued when the price for the license was 105 baht . Why the 5 baht ??? The cashier says have you got 5 baht . I have not I answered, rather irritated she hunts for change . I am not surprised she was short of change.
  9. You raise a good point on why are foreigners taken to a private hospital rather than a government hospital in the first instance . I think i know the reason and that is for the ambulance personell receive a remittence for bringing in the prey for the private hospital . I was involved in an accident on a motorcycle where I wa taken to a private hospital . I remember nothing about how i arrived there . When i realised more what was going on i asked to be taken to a goverment hospital and that was done . Yet there was a 28,000 baht invoice given for nothing more than laying on a bed for 12 hours . I learnt that according to law if a person is unconcious then the ambulance staff are obliged to take you to the nearest government hospital .
  10. Off his head was not written in the article and I never saw where there had been a test made while alive on the deceased regarding being intoxicated .
  11. Good news the young man is back home and slowly recovering. I would like to see more responsibility placed on businesses that hire out motorcycle's to people with no license .
  12. Well dude , he could of died from a plastic bag over his head.
  13. A many years to go before even getting near the west . Just come back from taking a motorcycle test . That experience gives me the confidence to say that.
  14. There has been many cases this year from young men acting strangely due to drugs . Yes , a sad story about the young Australian .
  15. The social media is becoming the only way to bring authorities to a correct decision . The social media which means facebook in Thailand seems to have more freedom than more traditional news papers in my opinion .
  16. I believe that there was a surge in tourists after the three years of covid travel restrictions were lifted . Not forgeting the help from the surge in Russians avoiding the call up . From now on with high airfares , bad air and dodgy policeman Thailand will struggle to have the number of tourists to match precovid .
  17. I have had a price from a company in China with a price of 450000 baht for a 10 kw hybrid system . That would include delivery to Bangkok port and no taxes paid . There would be no fitting of the solar system either. With taxes and fitting being extra one could save 200,000 baht instead of using local solar businesses. But there is a lot more risk involved.
  18. A hybrid system in Thailand will not pay for themselves until 8 years and then you will by then be needing to upgrade the batteries, invertors etc . I have had prices for a 10 kw hybrid system costing 850000 baht fitted. With a cost of electricity from the grid for myself being around 70000 per annum I do not see the 3 years you speak of . I see 8 years and be ready to spend a significant sum at the end of the 8 years . There is also more maintenance than cleaning the solar panels as things do go wrong .
