  1. Officially no but in reality: possibly. Helps to make it clear that you won't hold them liable for these parts in any way and that you pay them for their efforts. Plus a tip and smile.
  2. BB is the worst bank I have had the "pleasure" of using. In the past decade I can't think of a single thing that actually improved. But there have been quite a few things that got worse. They used to be a decent bank where foreigners could get a bank account without too much hassle. Then they made that more and more difficult. Then they cancelled their Visa debit card offering and tried to make everyone switch to a Union Pay card which of course is not even remotely as widely accepted as Visa. They backpaddeled on that one after backlash and started offering Mastercard. These cards when newly introduced also didn't work half of the time. Their online banking for corporate customers is an exercise in how to make inconvenient systems. The mobile app for my personal account can't be oppened anymore throwing a "data error" but I still get alerts of transactions. I've moved what I could over to Krungsri which while not perfect, I'm fairly happy with.
  3. Yea that makes sense because there they don't open themselves up to the risk of the exchange rate moving too much against them as the exchange is instant. That's why I couldn't reproduce it initially because I tried with balance in Wise instead of a Bank transfer.
  4. Am able to reproduce now. The limit when the live rate kicks in does not seem to be the same for every currency. For GBP to EUR for example it seems to be 452 GBP. For GBP -> USD it was 467 right now.
  5. I entered a transfer from USD to GBP in Wise for 10k USD and it still said guaranteed rate and no warning message as above. Does it only appear when doing the other way? I have no GBP balance to test.
  6. Hm I thought storing the card number is allowed in "unreadable" form? On entry store a salted hash of the card number + expiration date with the entry station, then on exit you look up what the entry station for this hash was and so know how much to charge. Bonus points for rotating the salt daily and purging the data on exit or 24h. Still need to keep that data secure but should be allowed according to PCI-DSS.
  7. Interesting, my Pirelli MT 60 RS on the Scrambler didn't develop cracks so fast but I'm not sure where they were manufactured. Not near my bikes so can't check. Have taken the leap of faith and got a set of IRC tires for the CBR. Actually very happy with those for over 9 months now. Would do again.
  8. Good on you. But it doesn't mean much to others here ????
  9. Doesn't look like that was the low yet, still falling. I wouldn't bet on the GBP at the moment. The UK is facing some difficult times ahead. And the long term trend seems to also not go in its favor.
  10. Haha sure, not serious. That's why you doubled down on it ???? Has nothing to do with using one's brain. Many people are unaware of the dangers. The amps potentially flowing can have some "fun" effects. Even at low voltages. Stay safe kids and don't follow everything you read on some forum if it sounds a bit sketchy without further research.
  11. And you connect these to what? Think a little bit further. But you are right: stay safe kids, use proper tools.
  12. Yea, there might be miscommunication because he also mentioned the mechanic didn't speak english all too well. Maybe they just ment change seals and oil. But 10k is way too much for that. I think he's doing the right thing and getting a second opinion.
  13. Forks should not wear out. They can get damaged but that should either be visible/feelable or at least result in a leak. Changing oil and seals can be reasonable as those wear out and shouldn't be too expensive. If someone claims forks have to be replaced then they better point out the exact damage.
  14. They will only do so if the order to non-shipment rate gets pretty high or if customers provide evidence of illegal behaviour. But I think so far you have not followed through with police etc. which means so far they have only a complaint which isn't enough to ban a seller unless a lot of people complain.
  15. Maybe a second hand CB500X? Cheap for under 100k, easy service in Korat. If cruiser then maybe a second hand Vulcan 650? I think they can be adjusted quite a bit. Or a Honda Rebel (300 or 500). Personally I never found cruiser style bikes too comfortable. I know those are not sub 400cc but if buying second hand then those might still fit the budget vs buying a smaller one new. Maybe tell us your budget instead of a cc limit. I'd stick to Honda or Kawa for quality and peace of mind.
  16. Yea the gov is contradicting itself. Even in situations I like to go the path of least resistance. Your daughter could still arrange a signature and then courier the document back to Thailand. I guess your daughter is Thai and now not a minor anymore? Is she maybe the owner as in freehold of the property? Maybe the DLT then wants the owner of the land to give his OK for a building permit even if another person has a leasehold on it? Just wild guesses.
  17. Yea but now they claim your daughters signature is needed so that would mean the original transfer was not valid either. Obviously there's a misunderstanding or a play to ask for money. Sometimes can also be worth trying to talk to another officer if possible. I'm pretty sure this can be sorted without paying money to a lawyer. But if the new owner doesn't mind then that's probably the fastest way (if picking the right lawyer).
  18. Duh. It's obviously easy to do but why do this ghetto style <deleted> unless you have no other options? And a lot of people don't realize the dangers of electricity. Touching it is probably the lesser danger.
  19. Seems weird. So the government essentially claims the leasehold still belongs to your daughter? I guess the easiest solution would be to get your daughter to sign if that's what they want. You can't hold the gov for breach of contract because nobody entered into a contract with the gov. The contract is between the two private parties. They could get a lawyer to write a letter to the land department explaining the legal situation and that they are wrong asking for the signature of the daughter (who I assume is/was a minor).
  20. I guess they have a deal with Yamaha then. Didn't notice that. All those years it was always Honda. I wonder if they'll be out and about on MT-03 as a CBR replacement then? ????
  21. Not available in Thailand. A Honda Scoopy has a similar seat height though.
  22. Police in Phuket have mainly CBR and PCX. Maybe some new ones are NMax?
  23. Doesn't make sense to me. We already interact with the internet via terminals like a computer or smartphone. We don't become "things" in IOT. Sounds more like some 5G Bill Gates flat earth theory. IOT simply means that there is a trend of many devices being now interconnected because hardware to do so became cheap and easy enough to integrate which allows for some more or less valueable features that had not been possible before. History tells us complex things have bugs because noone wants to put in the massive effort to secure a system to a very high degree. And so we'll see a lot of the IOT devices abused. I don't think there are solutions on the horizon. It'll just be a bit of a mess. But hey. As the world gets more technologocially advanced, it becomes more complex. That's the nature of the beast. To answer the OPs question: personally unless a device brings me a noticable advantage by being on the internet I simply don't hook it up to it. I don't expect them to be super secure.
  24. There are a few different Honda dealers but I think only one Yamaha (counting owners, not outlets. Not sure if same owner in Kata). The Yamaha dealer that has shops in Phuket Town and near the Monument circle has a very so-so reputation unfortunately. But Yamaha bikes are pretty good. Simple stuff should be possible to do in most little shops. Flat tire easier to fix on tubeless than with tube imho. At least with a temporary plug. I think just rent both bikes for a day and see which one you like more. That'll probably be more important than the dealers. You'll be riding it more often than getting service or repairs done.
  25. If they are made for jump starting and supply 12V. A generic power bank might not supply enough amps and have no connector for batteries. I use this one from Xiaomi for jump starting my car and bikes if needed: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/xiaomi-70mai-jump-starter-70-mai-power-bank-11100mah-with-bag-car-jumpstarter-auto-buster-car-emergency-booster-i406928267-s789796336.html I'm sure there are cheaper ones too. I wouldn't try the 3x AAA battery thing unless I'm really desperate and out of options. You'd have to connect them in series and then the positive and negative terminals to the battery somehow with some conductive material while at the same time not touching it with your skin.
