  1. Why? ....... Because insurance is a bet, and I don't like to gamble. Most people not raised in the west don't have insurance, outside of that mandated by their laws.
  2. Nah, Anutin party plus Senators holds the majority vote.
  3. I don't drag mine around at all, once a month to Makro is our only 'outside the home' joint activity. She has her friends and hobbies, I have my friends and hobbies.
  4. Neither of us work, I have enough money already. Obviously the poor guys will need their partners to work.
  5. I just buy eye drops from my local pharmacist for 40bht. 2-3 days and back to normal. For me it seems to be caused by reading all day.
  6. Have you tried working in a rice paddy in the hot sun for 150bht/day?
  7. I'd go further and ask "are women capable of loving their partners in LTRs".
  8. Can't help you with a blacksmith, don't think they do welding. But you could buy an arc welder on Lazada for around 1,500bht and weld it yourself. It's not that hard, I've welded my gate several times.
  9. Purchased from a Lazada seller based in Thailand. But everything is sourced from China these days. The electronics seem good, new batteries still charging.
  10. Nah, they've matched the weight of the fake batteries now. I bought a 30,000mah power bank, weight seemed good, but it could only 1/2 charge my phone once, indicating a real storage of 2,000mah. Ripped it open earlier this week to find ........ 1x 10,000mah battery (which appears to be fake) plus 2 sheets of steel to up the weight. Just purchased a 20,000mah battery from Lazada for 320bht, which I'm hoping is real, to put in the fake power bank enclosure.
  11. Food, ice, mixers, bar fines ............
  12. You've not seen them walking in with a bottle of Black label?
  13. It's commonplace for Thais to take their own booze into places, abd I've also taken food into a bar. As long as you're spending money there, why would anyone worry? If anyone in a bar told me I couldn't bring in food, I'd just walk to the next bar.
  14. Agree, Cavendish bananas have disappeared from the Chiang Mai area for around the past two months. They are the only banana I will eat. Ps. I'm in San Sai, and none in the local markets here.
  15. Slightly off topic, I used to go on holiday regularly with a gay pal from work. One year we went ski-ing at Lake Tahoe, flight and car hire into San Francisco. While in SF he wanted me to go with him to a gay club, I said 'as long as we do a nude female show first'. He wouldn't go, so we didn't, another night sitting on pier 39 eating clam chowder. I enjoyed SF (parking was terrible), and Lake Tahoe.
  16. As a typical western tourist, I never expected to have sex on holiday, so it didn't bother me.
  17. Nobody insists you participate in the community pub. Alternatively make up any nonsense you like, just like everyone else does.
  18. Why will you be filling out a tax return next year? Have you started working in Thailand?
  19. As far as I know, All Thai hospitals are required by law to treat life threatening injuries. Which has certainly been my experience in the past. At some point they will ask for payment, usually after a few days in hospital or when you want to leave.
  20. When I was a victim of a hit and run driver last October, the ambulance took me straight to my local government hospital. 6 broken ribs, broken collar bone, collapsed lung, many 'crush' injuries, total cost 13kbht over 4 months (including 1 month of physio), covered by my gov min m/c insurance.
  21. Police report will allow him to claim 30kbht back from his government minimum m/c insurance. He should have gone to a government hospital where his m/c insurance would have covered his entire bill.
