Why try to convince your wife/gf of anything? As long as you get to bang her when you feel like it, nothing else matters. And if she won't bang you when you feel like it, time to move on. It's not as if there's a shortage of attractive Thai single moms looking for a meal!

My Thai wife doesn't have a TIN, and she's lived here nearly 50 years. Worst case, I can get a VISA outside of Thailand (no money in Thai bank), not have a bank account in my name here, and get her to open a bank account in her name (and on my phone) for me to use in Thailand.

I'm confused by your keenness to comply and help the authorities? IMHO civil disobedience is always the way forward. And if they need to audit everyone, then take us all to court, let them do it! My VISA extension is good until Nov 2025, what can they do to me before that? The more compliant you are, the worse it will be for everyone!

Don't think there's gonna be much in the way of pension rises worth having in the future. The past 2 years made 20%, next year 4% ....... think I'll be gone before it's another 20% aggregate rise. (allegedly state pension claims average 8 years in duration)

I pay my MIL 3,000bht a month NOT to live with us. If she comes to visit -100bht for every day here. Result ....... not seen her for 2 years .... well worth the money ..... so much for close family bonds! If you're just renting monthly in Thailand, not that much more, and if you're a big drinker probably less. I was living here on multi-entry Non O for about 8 years, and visited these countries every 3 months, single flights being 1K-3Kbht a time. So I guesstimate 20-30Kbht a year extra on my normal yearly living expenses (accomodation a little more, alcohol a lot less). But if I were taxed in Thailand on my normal years spending, around 2,000bht pa on 600kbht brought to Thailand it wouldn't be a saving (tax allowances 60k me, 60k wife, 190k over 60, 150k pension, ?? child in education, 1.5%? of first 150k).

The email looks like Phishing to me, as the account holder isn't addressed by name. But if it is real, and you aren't American, you'd return it as 'no taxable income', so no need for a TIN. And that only if they try to close your bank account. Is Kbank writing to every Thai account holder that hasn't filed (about 80% of their customers)? My misses has a Kbank account, no TIN, and no email. Just thinking about it, neither of us have emails at our Thai banks, wouldn't all legit contact be through the banking app?
