  1. Thai minimum insurance has medical cover of 40kbht for anyone riding them (legally or illegally). If the bike has a valid tax disk, it will have the insurance.
  2. The 10GBP postage was the decider for me, everyone else wanted more.
  3. 1st. You've just admitted you needed to go through a 'bug fixing stage' with your Growatts (that wouldn't have made me happy). 2nd. You needed an installer because you had no previous knowledge of solar systems (if I remember correctly). 3rd. Was it another poster that had all the battery problems? (EDIT: my bad that was ThaiFish) 4th. I have a Degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering, built my own batteries, installed my own system, welded my own panel mounts and it worked correctly from day 1. Finally, there is absolutely no valid reason why the batteries and inverter need to communicate (apart from greed by the inverter manufacturer). The BMS is all that is needed to manage the batteries (I have 2x 48V batteries working in parallel). I will also leave it to the forum readers on whose opinion they want to listen.
  4. I think you should accept death when it comes. No health insurance for me (age 66).
  5. That's very optimistic of you!
  6. I'm betting your dad didn't live in Thailand. In Thailand your 1st medical emergency will probably be your last no matter how good your insurance.
  7. No retirement in Vietnam, you have to either work, or marry a local. Cambodia and Philippines much easier to retire in.
  8. Cannabis has been freely available in Vietnam and Cambodia forever. $10 a bag (although they always initially asked foreigners for $20).
  9. You're missing something. My last order with them arrived last week, ordered on 6th, delivered on 14th.
  10. Yes it does, but a pack of 5 regular for 6 GBP vs 1 feminised for 28GBP wasn't a hard choice. 5 Bahia, 4 Choice and 3 Escape germinated successfully along with the free feminised Blue Dream. Germinated on 18th Re-potted on 19th
  11. It's a cheap Chinese product sold at a premium price. If you like it, you buy it, I prefer to pay less for cheap Chinese equipment.
  12. I have a vm2 plus (sold under many labels) So far in 6 months its only screamed at us once, when my step-daughter shorted a socket in her room. Had to turn it off and on to clear the fault indicator.
  13. Yes they would, government minimum only covers 40kbht in medical fees though. But most unlicensed villagers don't bother to tax or insure their M/cs either.
  14. Lao brick is around 8%, so the stronger hybrids should be 2x-3x the price of the brick.
  15. Let's just use your review link .......... 520 rated @ 4-5, 70 rated @1-3 That's 12% of customers dissatisfied, which is a lot for any product. I wouldn't buy from any Lazada seller that had ratings that low. And if I were to be really picky, only 60% of their customers were entirely happy with the product (366 out of 600).
  16. They only want tourists, and you clearly aren't a tourist. Tourists stay in hotels and don't have Thai gfs when they arrive.
  17. Cambodia (55+) and Philippines (any age) are very easy, Vietnam long stay is hard but no VISA require for Brits (2 weeks waiver on entry). Philippines you can just arrive and stay for 3 years, then forced to leave for 1 night, then you can repeat.
  18. No, they're generally known as low quality.
  19. No really, Wealthy Thai business owners are not such easy targets.
  20. Too expensive, 33kbht for a product from a firm known for frequent product failures when compared to other firms charging 15kbht for devices that do the same thing.
  21. My inverter is now down to 12kbht, so not that expensive to replace. The battery banks I built myself, and I've a couple of spares, so not much potential for costs there. I'm thinking I'll be dead long before I need to worry about the system catastrophically failing. More chance of the grid failing IMHO.
  22. Chinese are 'Jin' not 'farang'. You need to understand the different Thai racial slurs before you use them yourself.
  23. Had mine going for 6 months now. Cost 50kbht for panels (9) and inverter + 45kbht for batteries. Electricity bill reduced from 1400bht/month to 250bht/month. If I live another 89 months it will have been worth it! But on the plus side, I don't have power cuts any more when it's a bit windy or rains. An if TEOTWAWKI happens, I'll still have power.
  24. Renewable energy will never take hold because most of the western world has an unsuitable climate for 'renewables'
