  1. I would say different rather than bad. Got used to drinking black coffee with condensed milk (50/50 or 70/30) fairly quickly, and ended up liking it. Coffee and a chicken roll in Highlands coffee was incredibly cheap $1.50 US.
  2. My Aussie pals used to get 30bht/AUD, now it's 21 ....... drop of 30% (manufacturing, minerals, food, etc) I was getting 50bht/GBP, now it's 44 ...... drop of 12% (and we make nothing, and have nothing) It seems the world doesn't value your country that much!
  3. Final update, Last month I was invited to the probation office to discuss his sentencing. A bit odd I thought, but I'll go. They asked if the 200kbht compensation payment was enough, or did I want more and I told them ...... He's a danger to the public, if I say I'm happy with the money and you let him go .....then he harms someone else = my fault. So I'm saying he shouldn't be allowed to walk free, and if you let him go ..... then he harms someone else = your fault. Which I could see they didn't like (they clearly wanted to let him go), but they wrote my comments down and passed them on to the judge. So this morning was sentencing, Judge shouted at him a lot then said he couldn't be trusted to mix with the general public. 3 years home incarceration at his parents house with ankle monitor, monthly psych evaluations to evaluate his ongoing danger to others, plus community work and 15kbht court fees. (This was all in Thai, but I think I've got most of that right, a lot of words I had to guess) An armed policeman led him from the court to fit his ankle monitor. Surprised they actually listened to me, he won't be running anyone down for the next 3 years. And my injuries had essentially confined me to my home for 4-6 months, so in keeping with the crime. My misses comment to me outside after ...... "I'd rather have had a year in jail and got it over". 19 months from crime to sentence.
  4. I think the attention is more about her tits than her shoes!
  5. Don't think Israeli's holiday in Muslim countries, unless in full military kit.
  6. Come on dude, those girls were all a bit chubby, it was the guys that were all ripped. I actually asked one of them "how come you're ripped, but all the girls are a bit chubby?" He replied, "they don't make the girls run all day wearing full packs, they get to sit around in camp"
  7. Can't speak for the Thai economy, but it certainly prevents my wife & kids from having to live in her family's corrugated iron hut.
  8. Cant say I'm all that keen to share foot disease with Thais. But hey, if they insist they want my verruca's and athletes foot ....... enjoy!
  9. The two western countries with the worst currencies and economic outlook in the western world. Not to mention completely irrelevant on the world stage. And if Aussies don't like bullies, why are you always the nastiest sprayers during songkran?
  10. Anyone who didn't vote for Hillary or Kamala.
  11. So Labour are surprised taking 500GBP away from nearly every OAP household has resulted in pensioners no longer voting for them! Surely they can't be that stupid, it was entirely predictable.
  12. I've been loads of times, and it's always been great, no problems. Probably the best sight seeing in the world.
  13. Most Thais don't rent rooms with appliances ..... maybe an old fridge. But generally landlords rent because they want money. And western foreigners aren't significant as tenants. Plenty of potential Thai customers.
  14. I was last there in 2016, went to all the museums, hung out in Hyde park/Kensington gardens every day, no problems at all weather was nice, Starbucks had a half price offer every afternoon.
  15. Me too, but if I wasn't already here, I probably wouldn't be coming.
  16. Don't think there are any western men in Thailand that aren't low class.
  17. My TCL 75" is the best TV I've ever owned and cheap, 16,500bht from Lazada. Had it for over a year and it's perfect. 3 year warranty. Samsung and LG twice the price only 1 year warranty, and I had one fail after 18 months that Samsung couldn't repair.
  18. My kids government school fees due next week, 8,000bht. The misses is out buying his uniforms right now, about 5,000bht for 2 pairs of shoes, 2x school uniform, 1x scout outfit, 1x gym outfit, 1x traditional Lanna outfit, bag, books, pencils, embroidery his name on each shirt. Most sold by the school shop at inflated prices, if you don't buy from them, your kid doesn't attend! And my kids pal, I just paid his government school fees, 5,000 and he gets my kids shoes and uniforms s/h from last year. His mom is broke, trying to earn 200bht a day on market stalls, selling whatever she can find.
  19. Wearing an outfit inspired by the ladies of Soi 6!
  20. Have you ever been to Thailand?
  21. Viet beaches are all deserted during the day, then packed at sunset. All rather odd from our western POV, but all the locals want white skin and hide from the sun.
  22. Unlikely, We all have access to sex with women at bargain prices. So no desire to pay for photos of women.
  23. I'm waiting until they offer a free girlfriend!
  24. What was wrong with keeping a month's money in wise? No need to wait then.
