odd how when people fail to make it they start the blame game,
Every man 'fails to make it' when the woman he loved from his home country moved on.
Luckily the newer generation of white males are learning not to marry, and the really clever ones are learning not to co-habit either.

And how do you plan to stay in Vietnam for long? They don't have a retirement Visa.
Just keep extending whatever VISA you have, sometimes 3 months, sometimes 6 months, sometimes 1 year.
It isn't a problem, no more effort than 90 day reports, and the costs end up the same at around $300/year.

Many had for years been depended of the income letter and therefor didn't had the required 400.000 or 800.000 in an Thai bank.
My pal Hans, just pays 25k to a VISA agent, no money in the bank at all, but he still gets his retirement extension.

I can assure you there is not a Thai ID number on it. Embassies cannot issue a Thai iD number.
I have read many posts by people having to get one here for themselves or parents getting one for their children that were born outside the country. It can be a big headache to do it if the Amphoe is not familiar with doing it.
I'd still like to see one, doesn't appear to be any examples I can find on the web.

It is only on his birth certificate if he was born here.
I'd like to see one, maybe the OP could post a scan or photo.

Since you do not have a Thai ID number they will have to issue one before you are registered in the house book.
It's on his Thai birth certificate (top right), and he must have one cos he couldn't get a Thai passport without it.
Go along to the Amphur office again, and be prepared to make a complaint to the Amphur head or phone their regional HQ.
They're either incredibly stupid or racists or looking for a bribe.

If all the critics and connoisseurs had to exhibit the same level of quality and beauty as the subjects they critique, neither would exist.
We're the ones paying for sex, not them.
If I'd had no money and waited for women to shag me because of my good looks, I'd still be a virgin.
I don't need to be a top chef, to like my dinner.
Or a famous movie director to enjoy a film.
A woman's main uses uses are sex toy, mother, and child carer, tired of the soy-boy liberal nonsense that they are anything else. Not to mention, she's the one who paraded herself around semi-naked in this competition.

So you rented a cheap condo ( let's see some photos) and took the bus ( probably no air con). Hardly accurate examples of price comparisons....
I don't believe I've been in a bus in Vietnam that didn't have air-con.
..... not sure I'd swim in the sea by Pattaya either.

I'm paying $15/night for a small condo in Da Nang 500m from My Khe beach with kitchenette, terrace beach view (inc utils). Monthly rent is 1/2 that (plus utils). Bus from the airport costs 25c.
Doesn't seem more expensive than Thailand to me.

. Robotics and technology will take more jobs.
Most jobs these days are government sponsored 'make work' for women anyway.
Robotics won't make any difference to them.
It's always been a small number of men that keep civilization running, the lights on and food on the table.

It makes you wonder if the 37% who don't buy travel insurance think that holding up a British passport will exempt them from any traffic accident. Perhaps it's the British equivalent of an amulet?
Most people don't have a m/c licence, so having insurance doesn't matter as they will refuse to pay.
The survey chickened out on stating where Brits are most likely to die on Holiday.
