  1. "The retail price is expected to be slightly higher than its competitors." So it's doomed?
  2. "The retail price is expected to be slightly higher than its competitors." So it's doomed?
  3. "Consider that they have left Pattaya out of this" Consider reading the 2nd post by the OP - just a tiny bit below the first one!:- "Meanwhile, it’s already been widely announced that closing times will be officially extended to 4am in some zones in Bangkok, Phuket, Chon Buri (code for Pattaya) and Chiang Mai." P.S. I agree with everything else in your post!
  4. I would have thought that Koh Samui should have also qualified as it is predominantly a tourist island? Personally I think that 2 am would be late enough for most, but there again, I'm not a tourist any more!!!
  5. How about Koh Samui - a predominantly tourist area?
  6. Maybe they're having some sort of "mine's better/bigger than yours" competition?
  7. "..........in reality, many pubs and bars have been operating beyond the 2am closing time illegally" Then get the RTP to do the job they're paid to do and CLOSE THEM DOWN - or is there some reason why the RTP allow them to continue to operate illegally? Hmmm?
  8. Oh dear - I sense many more "Committee meetings"!!!
  9. "A wave of sexual harassment allegations against members of the Move Forward Party (MFP) has sparked a demand for a definitive code of ethics to govern the sexual conduct of politicians. The demand emerged during a seminar organised by the Women and Men Progressive Movement Foundation on Wednesday, following the expulsion of an MFP member on the grounds of sexual harassment allegations." "A wave of allegations" following the expulsion of "an MFP member"? The words "bandwagon" and "witch-hunt" spring to my mind here!
  10. As I have just said in another post "Copy and paste" for future use!
  11. "Chonburi Governor Launches Operation in Pattaya to Crack Down on Crime Ahead of High Season" To be copied and pasted for use next year (as I have just done!)
  12. A few years ago, my mate and I were out on motor bikes and a cat ran out in front of him, causing him to end up coming off the bike and "bouncing" down the road. There were quite a few Thais about (we were in the middle of a main street) but not one of them came to help despite me waving for assistance. Eventually, a "farang" stopped in a truck and took him/us to hospital. Fortunately it was just cuts and grazes but it could have been much worse - somebody could have stolen our bikes while we were away!
  13. I can't buy alcohol between 2pm and 5pm or on Buddha days, but I can buy it and get bladdered in a nightclub up until 4 am? Even more amazing Thailand!
  14. With that garb, she looks like she should be pointing to the exits!
  15. I never believe anything that TAT say - unless it's "hope for" or 'wish for"!
  16. Just said for effect methinks - "false news"!
  17. I made a similar post on 11 October:- "Isn't it nice that all the latest negative news regarding farangs seems to not include "Brits Behaving Badly"? We have Israelis causing chaos, Danish men possessing illegal firearms, and even Indian men on 3168 days overstay - and that's just today's news"
  18. How well do you know Thailand?
  19. No it's not only one day - it's actually 5 "Buddha" Days every year when the sale of alcohol is banned. That's in addition to the bans when there are elections! Welcome to "Even More Amazing Thailand"
  20. "Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul hailed last weekend’s raid on a notorious nightclub in Pathum Thani as an example of his ministry’s crackdown on illegality, which now extends into the nightlife industry. Anutin has called on the public to tip off authorities concerning other locations as he vowed that the days of pay-to-play corruption for illegal operators were over. A Get Tough policy on nightlife operators is coming as the Minister of Tourism and Sports is pushing for 4 am closing hours for tourism hotspots with public opinion evenly divided and a small minority who want to see all nightlife in Thailand shut. Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has announced that the national crackdown being driven by his ministry is being extended into illegal activity within the nightlife sector following an early morning raid last Sunday, which shuttered a notorious venue in Pathum Thani, which saw its operators arrested and 137 out of 297 people detained testing positive for illegal narcotics. The Minister of the Interior in the present cabinet said the buying influence or protection era was over. The move comes as the public is evenly split over a revived government proposal to allow an 4 am closing time for nightlife operators in tourist hotspots currently being proposed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the Minister of Interior in the new government, welcomed a raid early on Sunday morning which shuttered an illegal entertainment venue in Pathum Thani province near Bangkok. Guess what? This post is about an early morning raid on an illegal entertainment venue in Pathum Thani! Really? I would never have guessed! Maybe that's why they had to tell me THREE (3) times in four paragraphs just to make sure that I got the gist of the story!!! And maybe it's coincidence that Anutin got his name mentioned 3 times as well as being promoted to PM in the final paragraph?
  21. I think you're getting mixed up with your nationalities!
  22. No - Apparently now it's :- "Even More Amazing Thailand!"
  23. "The department ordered the head of Bangkok Remand Prison to go to the hospital to check the performance of duties and maintain order." "Maintain order"? Says a lot for the Security in a Police Hospital!!!
