This could be perfectly legal or criminal. There's a large legal market for body parts for medical research in the US. I'm surprised you Euros don't know anything about it, but that's why your countries lag in medicinal innovation. http://knowledge.wharton.upenn.edu/article/the-billion-dollar-body-parts-industry-medical-research-alongside-greed-and-corruption-2/

A properly drafted Constitution would last decades. The problem is that Thai politicos are too nearsighted to see past the next few months. They need to create a system of checks and balances, but no one wants to give up power to a branch of government they can't personally control or influence.

If he does this he will guarantee there will be a Republican president next term. The public uproar will be deafening.
He'll probably be impeached for violating the constitution which is a crime.
No, impeaching Obama will guarantee there will be a Democrat elected President and a Democratic Congress. Didn't you learn your lesson with Clinton? C'mon, impeaching a constitutional lawyer for violating the constitution. Give me a break.
What are you saying? Democrat Clinton was impeached in 1999 and the next year a Republican was elected president. The same Republican was elected again 4 years later.
What lesson would you take from that?
I love Republican revisionism. Your memory is as short as your . . . http://www.gallup.com/poll/4111/clinton-receives-record-high-job-approval-rating-after-impeachment-vot.aspx

Don't they mean "paper" tiger, as in the foreign policy of Francois Hollande?

Unfortunately, like medical insurance reform, it is the wrong solution. The political climate in the US prevents implementation of legislation that would actually fix these problems. For medical care, the insurance companies stood in the way of real reform which would have lowered the cost and expanded medical access for all. The insurance companies are an unnecessary middleman that increases the cost of medical care in the US over 100%.
For immigration reform, the proper solution is to legitimize those undocumented immigrants who are contributing to the economy or society, and deport the criminals. Give payroll tax breaks to companies employing US citizens, with smaller payroll tax breaks for employing foreign workers. That way, employers have an incentive for hiring US citizens first, documented foreign workers second, and reduced incentive for hiring undocumented workers. The failure to realize that business and the labor market drives the entire immigration issue in the US is the reason the political system can't come up with the right solution. Obama's executive order doesn't improve the situation much, and just hardens the anti-immigration sentiment.

Easy solution. Just ban every former office holder, regardless of party affiliation, from political activity for the next 5 years. No reason for trials. We know they are all corrupt. Time to hit the reset button.

Put your money where your mouth is. Next time Thaksin visits, China can send him back to Thailand.

The case differs little from the NACC charges. Her lawyers don't need additional time to prepare. The actual potential sentence of a 5-year ban from politics means little. What does matter is that the country get its head around the actual cost of the program and the estimated losses that were due to corruption on the part of government officials and rice millers, payments made for rice of foreign origin, and losses due to spoilage and improper storage. An investigation is also needed into how much of the corruption and losses could have been avoided with proper oversight. The idea is to move forward and avoid this type of calamity in the future.

Isn't it illegal to bring that much cash into Thailand without declaring it at customs? If I were the Indonesians, I'd return on the next flight to Jakarta.

Nice to see MICT getting into the keylogger business. Wouldn't dream of buying a tab that MICT had its hands upon.

Works as a "pretty", what de farx is that?
A "pretty" is a female, or male, model who is paid to appear at events. It is a common term used in the entertainment recruiting business in Thailand. They might be hired to promote beer sales (the Chang girls) or to liven up a company party (by getting people to dance or being announcers for company prizes). I have not seen the term used for prostitution, if that is what you are thinking.

The future fate of ASEAN integration can be seen in Phuket. The only way Thais can compete with foreign workers is to rely on protectionism to create obstacles for foreign workers entering the Thai labor market.

The spin on this story is contradicted by the winner of the Lays 2014 contest for selecting the new chip flavor. This year's winner, wasabi ginger. https://www.dousaflavor.com/ Lays Thailand makes awful chips by the way. The flavors are OK but the chips are terrible.

Yes, but once again, PTP fails to take responsibility for the violent acts of its members. When anti-government protesters took to the streets, PTP and UDD extremists responded with attacks, mostly intended to intimidate, but some causing death and mayhem. Until PTP repudiates the violence of its extremists, it can never be a legitimate political party, only thugs. This is actually an accurate timescale of events.
Farnags were all saying this (with exception to red supporters) over a year ago.
It takes a Thai a year to come to the same conclusion.
That's about par for the course.
It's about time farangs were allowed into Thai politics as a 'best men for the job' policy. Thailand might eventually start to move forwards.

How about introducing spaces and punctuation in the written language as a start. No wonder Thais don't enjoy reading whenit'sallwrittenlikethisIwouldgetaheadacheforsure.
Unfortunately, it's more than just that. I am amazed when I see just how slowly very intelligent Thais read their own language. They need to standardize and probably convert the written language to Latin letters, like Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines did. I realize that there is a lot of culture in sticking with the Thai characters, but when it is slowing down your entire country, it's time to move on.

Seems the Bali Hai Pier has an unusual number of killings and other violent incidents, even for Pattaya. You would think that a real police presence there might make the area a little safer.

What a rambling mess of an opinion piece. Thai men have turned to the suit and tie because it is fashionable and makes a good business impression.

More shoddy journalism. No study has ever found a link between donative nephrectomy and a diminishment of health for the donor. I donated a kidney to my father over 15 years ago. It extended his life about 10 years. Other than a scar, I suffer no effects from the donation. It's a scar I'm quite proud of.
