  1. In Pattaya for new small cc bikes you don't have much choice but to buy from Mityon,so just go to the nearest one to your residence and order the bike there if the staff give you good service if not try the next nearest Mityon. There is little point trying to shop around for better prices as they are all the same shop..some will offer "free" registration a helmet or a jacket worth a few 100 baht.
  2. And what do the guinea pigs receive in compensation ? and what happens if the mother or baby is harmed ?
  3. Often times an oncoming vehicle will expect you (anyone) to move over to the far left when they are doing illegal/dodgy overtaking manoeuvrers, stubbornly standing your ground and refusing to move over could be lethal...it's almost always a larger vehicle bullying a smaller/motorcycle they expect/demand that you move..they are coming through like it or not !!! Also just to add to the "excitement" the far left/hard shoulder as mentioned is often used by motorcycles as a counter flow lane where "strangely" they insist to stay on the right hand side of that lane ( their right) and expect bicycles/motorcycles to pass them on the right (their left) but seem to move over for pedestrians or push carts. I tend to ride to the left or middle of the left lane and move over to the far left/hard shoulder when a speeding maniac is approaching from behind and when the traffic starts to get heavy and slow, if you are riding like an 80 year old Sunday driver it is "expected" by other road users that you will be in the far left/hard shoulder lane...because slow traffic should keep to the left.
  4. No its just a bog standard 2 stroke motorbike no knock sensors, oxygen or airflow sensors catalytic converter, programmable ecu's ... just a good old fashioned carburettor 91 fuel and some 2t oil thrown in for good measure ???? How does it adjust ??
  5. What is the compression ratio of the engine ? My Honda 150cc 2 smokes Liquid cooled workshop manual says it has a compression ratio of 6.8:1 and to use 91 octane or higher fuel, my 4 stroke DOHC air cooled Suzuki 150cc workshop manual says its 10.2 :1 recommends 91 or higher octane too maybe it could benefit from 95 according to the chart below.. over the years I've tried 91 and 95 in both and noticed no difference in either machine.
  6. As I understand it, the difference between 91 and 95 is the octane rating, engines with a higher compression ratio ( higher performance) require a higher octane rated fuel to help prevent "knocking" AKA the fuel igniting too early when it is compressed in the cylinder. If the engine has a lower compression ratio then lower octane fuel can be used, using a higher octane fuel in a lower compression engine will not in itself increase the performance of that engine but using a low octane fuel in a high compression engine can result in damage therefore In modern engines the fuel management system can compensate for low octane fuel and associated "knocking" which will lead to a decrease in performance whilst using that fuel. E20 has 20 percent ethanol which I believe has a lower energy density than straight petrol (less Km's /L) ethanol is also a higher octane fuel E85 is supposed to be good for tuned up turbo engines.
  7. The reason they don't stop is because it is very dangerous for both the driver and the pedestrians I post this disturbing video again to remind everyone of the dangers of Thai "Zebra crossings"
  8. As far as I'm aware the law says that "slower" vehicles should be in the left lane (not the ditch) and that after overtaking a slower vehicle the faster vehicle should also return to the left lane..in other words the left hand lane is the "normal" driving lane.
  9. Yes many will not even try to find a leak they just want to come and top up the coolant...sometimes finding and fixing the leak would mean removing the whole aircon unit and perhaps taking it to their workshop to do welding/brazing then pressure test then bring it all back and basically do another full reinstall...lots of work for them customer without aircon for at least a day and night. One thing you can quite easily check are the Schrader valves these are where they connect the measuring gauges..the Schrader valves should also have a cover on them which can help stop leaks...mine have been good for the last couple of years after I happened upon a aircon fixerer that suggested the valve was leaking and used ptfe tape to make the brass cover an extra barrier to leaks.
  10. I drove along there yesterday the road is fully repaired and open again.
  11. In other red zone areas like Choburi/Pattaya there have been arrests made of groups of "friends" sitting around with and without alcohol present even in private residences..just last weekend they arrested people sitting on Bang Sean beach for having alcohol...they state no more than one person can drink alcohol..so no groups of friends and no alcohol at all on beaches, parks or other "public" areas !!!!
  12. Yeah they do such a "good job" of controlling the yearly crop burning nobody would have thought they existed ????
  13. Another place to try is "Silpaban" on Central Pattaya road https://www.google.com/maps/place/Silpaban+Office+Supplies/@12.9328309,100.8974827,3a,24.4y,33.07h,90.61t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s5WpvB7YeDMJF-pKoJMVM4w!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!9m2!1b1!2i27!4m5!3m4!1s0x310295fb34aea7d7:0x8cea18ee8a2a4ee6!8m2!3d12.9329394!4d100.8975756
  14. The actual practical test is very easy..possibly the hardest part is driving along the long thin raised bit of concrete without falling off, stopping or putting foot down. Much more difficult is the computerised theory test part but only because some of the "correct" answers are not what you might expect...there are some online websites to practise on getting some of those very strange "correct" answers correct... I didn't do any study beforehand and so it took me 3 attempts to get pass the theory bit
  15. No, you need a motorcycle licence to drive one legally in Thailand.
  16. You missed the videos of "black" water flowing into the sea after the recent Pattaya flooding ?
  17. They actually look like the real thing this time...2 recent stories about "huge hauls" of illegal guns where most if not all where BB/airsoft guns !
  18. Yep they even do it on temple ground.... just build a car park right in front of the condo..car park hardly used plenty of space to build it elsewhere on the grounds but seems to have been done deliberately to annoy the condo residents !!!!
  19. No I'm saying that the payments can be stopped for the deferment period (whilst the Covidiocy rages and they have no income/job ) after that the payments have to start again as before not that the/a total lump sum must be paid after the deferral ends.
  20. Yeah easy as Pie just use the biggest hammer you can find to bash the olden's out and the newen's in again ???? If the valve seats and guides have worn too much then "most people" will need to take it to a machine shop to have them replaced properly it's a bit beyond D.I.Y for most..not impossible but difficult. I don't know if this guy is still in business or not he may be able to help.
  21. Looks almost as bad as the pedestrian overpass near me I don't dare touch the stainless steel handrails !!!!
  22. Often the condo will limit you to their choice of ISP and not allow anyone else to provide service so you may be stuck with 3bb or have to choose a mobile provider True,DTAC,AIS perhaps CAT you'll need to test to see which has the best signal in your condo before committing to one. I don't think that any fixed ISP provider offers monthly connections any more they used to in the days of Dial up modems ????
