  1. That's correct. Immigration counts days, including fractions of a day, not nights as hotels do. Immigration also does not count hours, minutes and seconds. It's like the package tours offered by travel agents: 7 days (6 nights) The way Thai immigration counts days is the same way that immigration of all other countries do.

  3. It is fascinating that immigration officials ask applicants for an extension of stay for a copy of the TM.30 notification made by the hotel where they are staying instead of looking it up on their own computer. Is it because they have not been trained to do this database search?
  4. The impression I got from reading the OP is that @frankstraube is talking about the Non–Immigrant- Visa “O - X” (Long Stay 10 years) https://consular.mfa.go.th/th/content/80938-non-–-immigrant-visa-“o-x”-(long-stay-10-years)?page=5d68c88b15e39c160c0081e2&menu=5d68c88d15e39c160c00827f
  5. Are you saying that you were able to upload the ID page and the passport photo as PDF?
  6. From what I have seen, the type of acceptable document formats is separately stated for each section of the application process.
  7. London is a desired location for Thai diplomatic staff and I consider it likely that many do not get posted there because of there qualifications for the job and there manners.
  8. Did you get a visa with the word "marriage" printed, stamped, or handwritten on it from the Thai consulate in Savannakhet?
  9. Thank you for posting that link. From that web page: The critical part here is "who wishes to enter the Kingdom" However, the discussion in the context in which you made your post is not about a foreigner who wishes to enter Thailand; he is already in the country. He goes to his local immigration office after a visa-exempt entry or after entry with a visa other than a non-immigrant visa to apply for a non-immigrant visa with the form TM.86 APPLICATION FOR CHANGE OF VISA or the form TM.87 APPLICATION FOR VISA (where on both forms "visa" is a wrong translation of the Thai text ลงตรำ, which in the context of these forms means "arrival stamp"), as the case may be, to subsequently apply for a one-year extension of permission to stay for the apposite reason. 10. With the visa-exempt entry, you get permission to stay for 30 days. If desired, you can apply at the nearest immigration for a 30-day extension for THB 1,900
  11. There is nothing to stop you from trying. The first part of the eVisa application is a verification whether you qualify for it. Answer those questions truthfully and see how far you get.
  12. Your UK nationality does not qualify you for the visa on arrival, but under the visa waver program you are free to travel to Thailand any time without a visa for the purpose of tourism for 30 days (29 nights). Be sure to say "tourism" if the immigration official asks for the reason of your visit, because there is a miniscule chance that if you say "visit my wife" a surly official may incorrectly berate you that you should have used a non-O visa.
  13. Removed an off-topic post (asking a participant in this topic to go searching for a related post of his in another, unidentified topic somewhere on this forum)
