  1. The Internet country code top-level domain .io is nominally assigned to the British Indian Ocean Territory. Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.io?wprov=sfla1
  2. I am now closing this topic because it has gone far off topic, with discussion not only about the pronunciation of the word farang (for which there have been posted over half a dozen variations) but also of other words. Please go to the Thai Language forum for your discussions about the pronunciation of Thai words.
  3. You wrote "Thais say Part tay ya" The sound clip you posted does not pronounce it that way.
  4. I would object to fararng. That second r in the word is a tongue twister.
  5. The people of the USA got the president they deserve, whom they elected democratically and who now delivers what he promised during the election campaign. I, for one, am enjoying this show, this soap opera, enormously. Is there an island in Italy that Donald Trump would like to buy in Italy for his retirement in four years, in addition to Greenland and the Gaza Strip?
  6. I wouldn't pay much attention to stories of this kind on Facebook.
  7. I agree with Rob Bowder. You are the ideal candidate for visa-exempt entries.
  8. That's the first time I hear about a Thai immigration official asking for the TM.30 upon entry into Thailand.
  9. Precisely. Farang is the correct written word, eg as written in a post on this forum, and is in line with the Royal Thai General System of Transcription (RTGS), the official scheme promulgated by the Royal Thai Institute, whereas falang is the RTGS transcription of a colloquial variant spoken by people in some geographic areas in Thailand or of certain levels of education. Interestingly, farang has made it into some English dictionaries, eg Collins and a dictionary from Oxford Languages. The discussion of pronunciation guides, such as farung and fararng for speakers of various types of English, as mentioned in some posts here, are best held in the Thai Language Forum.
  10. A falang is not a falang when he is correctly called a farang. A falang is also not a falang when he is called a farlang or a flang or a ferang or a felang or any other of the many silly names I have seen being used on this forum but cannot remember at the moment.
  11. Regarding the TM.30, ask the hotel where you are staying for a copy of immigration's receipt of the hotel's notification of your arrival.
  12. Lake Si? Where is that? Google Maps does not know it.
  13. The anwer is tha it depends on what the district office (amphoe) requires, as another poster already mentioned.
  14. If you have read somewhere that "Thailand recognise the Karen state", it means that Thailand recognises, ie acknowledges, the fact that the government of Myanmar has given a region in Myanmar the name Kayin State, formerly known as Karen State. It is analogues to recognising that Florida is part of the USA or that Wales is part of the UK.
  15. Is the standard procedure to get the form KR.22 from the local district office? https://aseannow.com/topic/979962-kr2-kr3-or-kr22/
  16. Removed some off-topic posts and replies.
  17. In that case, with the Thai text also using the English term non immigrant quota, this is exactly what the customs office means. I have never heard of a non immigrant quota or a non-immigrant quota.
  18. No. Read the original Thai text of whatever you are talking about. It may a case of a translation error.
  19. There is an annual quota for immigrant visas: 100 for big counties, 50 for small countries. There in no quota for non-quota immigrant visas, as far as I know.
  20. There is no quota on non-immigrant visas.
  21. I don't think there is such a thing as "licenced visa agents" in Thailand. There was this recent topic on this forum: https://aseannow.com/topic/1348282-do-you-need-a-lawyer-top-5-lawyers-in-thailand/
