  1. No visa is being changed. The title of the form TM8.9 is wrong, both the original Thai text and the English translation. The correct title would probably be "Application for non-immigrant visa category O" The issuance of this visa is subject to specific criteria and conditions which must be met by the applicant, as outlined in the guide for this form.
  2. Removed an abusive post.
  3. If you feel like it, give them a positive review on Goole Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/MbeFmRnUTM9YJ4gbA
  4. On your non-O visa, the "Enter before" will be 90 days after the issue date of the visa. In other words, it isvalid for travel to Thailand within 90 days.
  5. Please indicate your definition of landlord in the context of the requirement of the notification of the arrival of a foreigner at a residence (TM.30) I have seen two English translations of the Immigration Act and neither uses the term landlord.
  6. AirBnB is NOT banned in Thailand. What gave you the impression that it was banned?
  7. From the Thai embassy in what country?
  8. For my e-visa application in Switzerland, which I plan to make next week, I also have to submit a "confirmation letter" from my wife along the lines of the sample provided by the embassy: Invitation letter.pdf
  9. The requirement of evidence of the equivalent minimum 400k Baht in a Thai bank for the non-O visa to visit a family member of Thai nationality is also listed on the website of the Thai embassy in Switzerland. Source: https://thaiembassy.ch/files_upload/editor_upload/VISA/1637317169_31-non-o-family-of-thai-nationals-visa-checklist.pdf As Ubonjoe wrote, it is not required and it is indeed not listed on the website of the MFA (https://image.mfa.go.th/mfa/0/zE6021nSnu/10_Visa_requirements_O.jpg) but that list has the footnote "Additional documents may be requested by Consular officers...". I have no problem meeting this requirement but I hope that for others, the embassy will not get the funny idea to reject an application and keep the application fee if this requirement is not met.
  10. Thank you. I looked at the two versions on my computer and see that I got the numbers mixed up. Kor Ror 2, the updated full version to be obtained from the district office (on my computer a photocopy of the corresponding page from a handwritten entry in a giant ledger): Kor Ror 3, the normal marriage certificate (what I called the souvenir version):
  11. For the marriage certificate, will the KR.2 (souvenir version) do or must it be the KR.3?
  12. Yes, exactly that.
  13. 1. Is your "missus" Thai and 2. does she have a child of whom you are the father and 3. is this child registered in the blue book of which your "missus" speaks?
  14. The requirement of your mother's marriage registration certificate is not only odd, it is irrelevant to your application for your Thai birth certificate. The rules for the acquisition of Thai nationality by birth have changed since the Nationality Act was promulgated in 1965. The latest amendment I have on file is from 1992, applicable also to persons born before that, and reads as follows: The nationalities of the child and its parents are entered on the Thai birth certificate. Apparently, you derive your Thai nationality from your mother and the embassy in Finland perhaps wants to get as many official documents as possible that attest your mother's Thai nationality, which is presumably stated on her birth certificate, house registration entry, ID card, passport, and marriage certificate.
  15. Removed an incomprehensible post (Pray-hoot)
  16. Removed a post that was incomprehensible off-topic gibberish.
  17. @Sparktrader I am still genuinely interested in knowing what you meant with "lb story"
  18. Whatever bank one goes to, it is important to make it clear that one wishes to apply for a savings account. Otherwise, the bank employee may think that one wants a current account and apply the requirements for that type of account.
  19. I had the same experience with an SCB branch in Bangkok where I asked to apply for a savings account many years ago. The lady at the counter was very apologetic that she could not accept my application because I had no work permit. When I asked if my house registration book would do, her face lit up and as I did not have the yellow book with me she accepted a scanned copy which I emailed to her from my phone right then and there.
  20. That's one area where the pink ID card can be useful for a foreigner. Passport numbers change from one passport to the next, the ID card number never changes. It was for this reason that I had Kasikorn Bank unlink my account from my passport and link it to my ID card.
  21. In what school's pronunciation guide? Each school seems to have its own.
