Well it's up to you. I've already made my thoughts clear on that issue. Here's an interesting comment from The Nation: 'From 2024, motorcycle ABS will be mandatory in Thailand for all new models over 125 cc. - Roughly 25 percent of accidents involving motorized two-wheelers could be prevented by motorcycle ABS'. The full article makes for interesting reading. the link is below. Keep safe out there. https://www.nationthailand.com/pr-news/business/40004141

Anyone ever taken anti anxiety meds in Thailand?
Moonlover replied to ubonr1971's topic in Health and Medicine
Poor sleep can certainly have a debilitating affect on ones overall health. Poor sleep and anxiety can become a vicious cycle that seem to feed off each other. But I'm in agreement with you regarding medication. I've always resisted the the use of of medication, much preferring natural self help methods. Here's one that you might like to try. Seek out "Box Breathing" on Youtube. There are plenty of references. It's so effective that it's even taught to Navy Seals to help them get some instant 'shut eye'. . I use this simple method for getting back to sleep after having to visit the bathroom during the night. It can also be practiced any time of day or night to help you to control anxiety. Seek out 'Non Sleep Deep Relaxation' (NSDR) which builds on the is technique. I also agree with @Airalee's comment above. I like Wim Hoff's methods. -
Called at the Chonburi Taxation office
Moonlover replied to Delight's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I also first heard about it on AN (or was it TVF back then?) It came up in an article in the Thai Enquirer which included the sentence: 'Also exempt will be those who have been taxed in a foreign country that has a standing Double Tax Agreement with Thailand'. This was dismissed by the afore said as ML not being an official statement and so the rumour perpetuated. In the 14 months since that was published, I haven't read one single article that contradicts that sentence, so AFAIC the taxing of us pensioners is still an unsubstantiated rumour. I agree with with earlier posters such as @Jingthing. Stay well away from TRD offices and tax advisers who are seeking to plunder your hard earned retirement pots. Called at the Chonburi Taxation office
Moonlover replied to Delight's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I'm waiting, with baited breath to hear how many others are rushing to TRD offices around the country. This taxation business came up, for the very first time on a local forum up here in NE Issan last week. Nobody knew anything about it! So I'm guessing there won't be a stampede around here.- 89 replies

I would be asking serious questions about who 'this guy' is and how professional and reliable is the repair. I have an Aerox with ABS. I've had it for 4 years, however I've only had to use the brakes full on in dire emergency once. And there's no doubt in my mind that ABS saved my skin that day. No other bike I've ever ridden would have stopped as quickly and as safely as my Aerox did. If my ABS went on the blink, I'd get it fixed using genuine parts at my local Yamaha dealer. No ifs, no buts!

Marriage certificate lost
Moonlover replied to Celsius's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
We lost ours several years ago, (don't ask me how!) But we've done repeated marriage extensions since then without any problem using scanned copies plus the usual Kor Por 2. We also still have the official translation signed and stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. That's probably as good as, but we've never used it. -
Works very well but should not be used regularly. I use 'Hotta Plus' (ginger tea with 4,000mg of fiber), 2 or 3 cups a day is fine. 2 Weet Bix for breakfast is great and very effective. Vistra DT Daily (fiber powder drink with 7,000mg of fiber also works well.

Thai elderly to soon receive 10,000 baht cash aid: Finance Ministry
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I see no shame in handing out the monies to the welfare cardholders first. They are invariably the oldest and the most needy in Thai society. -
UK Pensioners in Thailand Face New Scrutiny Over Pension Fraud
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The previous attempt didn't fail per se. It was 'prorogued' because of the upcoming general election. there was not enough time to complete the procedure. I don't see another general election on the horizon, do you? -
UK Pensioners in Thailand Face New Scrutiny Over Pension Fraud
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That is not correct. Your state pension will be taxed via your military pension, whether it's paid into a Thai bank or not. It makes no difference where you have it deposited. -
UK Pensioners in Thailand Face New Scrutiny Over Pension Fraud

This bill was reintroduced after the general election and has now reached the 'committee stage' in the House of Lords. See also Wikipedia. https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3430 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_Protection_and_Digital_Information_Bill -
If you switch to using tourists visas, there is always a chance that you could 'hit the rocks' somewhere down the line and no one can predict whether or when that might happen. The retirement extension on the other means that your virtually bomb proof and also if the requirements for extensions where to change, you would be 'grandfathered'. If I were you I'd stick with the extension. It's cheap (even with the multi entry stamp) and reliable.

Neither is true. The monument was erected in June 1941 to commemorate the Thai victory in the Franco-Thai War.
