What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2025)
Moonlover replied to Rimmer's topic in Entertainment
I'm really enjoying 'The City is Ours' on the BBC. It's a gritty story revolving around an OCG family, fighting for control of the drugs scene in Liverpool. Murdering rivals and stealing each other's gear. And now there's fighting for dominance going on within the family. Gripping stuff. -
Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee (born 8 June 1955), also known as TimBL, is an English computer scientist best known as the inventor of the World Wide Web, the HTML markup language, the URL system, and HTTP. Fun fact. HM Queen Elizabeth was the first person to send an international email.

I don't somehow think that a 'basic phone' would keep them amused for very long. (unless they love snake)

Coolant all over the car engine bay.

So possibly the (fan?) belt needs adjusting or replacing. That drives the water pump, so overheating is probably the problem. -
Steel Maker Challenges Safety Results Amid Earthquake Probe

Which English language newspaper? There are quite a few. -
Good advise. How long have you had this ADV? It sounds to me as if you're not giving it enough time to get used to the 'feel' of it. I felt the same when I bought my Aerox after having ridden a Click 125 for many years. The Click was great, but the Earox felt stiff and unyielding against the very flexible Click. Now when I ride the Click it feels all wobbly and loose. It's not the bike's fault, it's me. My 'muscle memory' has adapted to the Aerox. Just give yourself a while to adjust to the ADV and stop comparing it to the Scoopy. Once you've adapted you'll start to have fun.

Bangkok Building Collapse Sets Unwanted World Records
Moonlover replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Yes I agree with and it has been mentioned before, right from the day it happened in fact. But folks are all too busy playing the 'blame the Thai' game to take any notice. If you watch the video in the link at 1:12, it is quite clear that the collapse started at the top of the building, just as you have suggested. https://edition.cnn.com/2025/03/28/world/video/bangkok-building-collapse-myanmar-earthquake-digvid -

Thai Cabinet Gives Green Light to Electricity Cost Cut
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Maybe you weren't aware that that there was a 3 month subsidy on electricity bills that ended the previous month. Ours did the same. -
You might think that this is 'just 2c worth', but I think it is excellent advice.

Privacy Concerns Over Theme Park's Two-Way Mirror

Women pee in cubicles. Didn't you know that? The only view that the men get is of them at the wash basins. When did you last see a man masturbating in a public toilet? (perhaps you'd better not answer that!) -
More Wise issues
Moonlover replied to CallumWK's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Wise obviously couldn't operate in any country without having partners within those countries. But the point I was making was that money does not move across borders. The partners in the various countries facilitate the payments both in and out on behalf of Wise. That is, principally why Wise are usually able to make 'instant transfers'. The use of the word 'transfer' is actually a little bit oxymoronic , but I guess no one can think of a better word to use. -
Problems with submitting Tax Return

Thai PM fumes over delayed quake warnings; demands action
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't see that there is any point to having an earthquake alarm at all. Any message that is sent out will be after the event. Earthquakes never give a prior warning. Tsunami warning are different of course. It takes time for the waves to arrive, so a warning might be of some practical use. -
More Wise issues
Moonlover replied to CallumWK's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Yes it does make a difference. I received my 1st of the month pension an hour earlier today. Wise do not route cash through any intermediates. When you make a transfer with them, money does not cross any borders at all. 'It’s because of how we work: when you send money with us, we use our Thai banking partners to send out your money locally. It doesn’t cross any borders', -
In many countries, you do send your passport back to HMPO with your application. Thailand is an odd exception to that norm. It sounds to me that someone back there in the UK has got their 'knickers in a twist'. Challenge VFS with this issue. IMO they are the ones who should be sorting this 'misunderstanding' out. Good luck.

UK Pension Payments into Thai Bank Account
Moonlover replied to piston broke's topic in UK & Europe Topics and Events
No you have no options regarding the currency or the exchange rate. DWP uses Citicorp as their paying agent to all foreign banks including Thailand of course. The rate you get will be the mid market rate on the day of payment less a small charge of around 120 THB and it will be credited to your account 2 working days after your due payment date (public holiday excepted) You will normally be paid 4 weekly in arrears. Hope you find that useful. -
'This type of visa will allow for multiple entries during the specified time period without needing to apply for a new visa for each trip. However, each stay in the UK must not exceed the stay specified on the visa'. So, how many days does your wife's visa specify? Therein you have your answer. https://ayjsolicitors.com/how-to-apply-for-a-multiple-entry-uk-visit-visa/
