  1. Yes, no problem at all and my wife agrees too. (It was my post that Rimmer removed bless him. mistakes happen)
  2. Yes it gets my vote too. Recognizable. And my wife agrees.
  3. Yes I've read that. Do you really think that you have changed that much that you can no longer be recognized? I would posit that you would need to have had plastic surgery or a serious accident for your features to have changed to that degree. Remember the recent case of Richard Burrows? The police managed to recognize him using a mug shot from nearly 30 years ago! My own passport is coming up for renewal next year, when I'll be 80. This is not something I shall be worrying about.
  4. Where did you get this information from? I've never heard of passport photographs having to be countersigned except when the applicant has never held a UK passport before. HMPO have the FR technology that compares the photograph that you submit with the photo in your current passport and are able to confirm that you are the same person. I would check your facts again @cliveshep
  5. Yes. exactly and in the US too where they're called 'Mansfield bars' and here's why: 'These bars, known as Mansfield bars, would ensure that no one else suffered the same tragedy as Jayne Mansfield and her family'. https://allthatsinteresting.com/jayne-mansfield-death
  6. Was his first post as bad as this one?
  7. If they were to go up in the air, what they would see it that most of the burning that is affecting Thailand's air quality right now is across the border in Laos. Can't do much about that can they.
  8. The hazard arrow is fixed on the back of the truck, which a fairly standard practice. But still pretty hard to miss. I guess the driver was speeding along in the right hand lane as they so often do here. The damage to the car suggests that the truck had no protection guard to prevent it from going under the rear. 3rd one I've seen on here recently.
  9. I'm really enjoying 'The City is Ours' on the BBC. It's a gritty story revolving around an OCG family, fighting for control of the drugs scene in Liverpool. Murdering rivals and stealing each other's gear. And now there's fighting for dominance going on within the family. Gripping stuff.
  10. Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee (born 8 June 1955), also known as TimBL, is an English computer scientist best known as the inventor of the World Wide Web, the HTML markup language, the URL system, and HTTP. Fun fact. HM Queen Elizabeth was the first person to send an international email.
  11. I don't somehow think that a 'basic phone' would keep them amused for very long. (unless they love snake)
  12. So possibly the (fan?) belt needs adjusting or replacing. That drives the water pump, so overheating is probably the problem.
  13. Which English language newspaper? There are quite a few.
  14. Good advise. How long have you had this ADV? It sounds to me as if you're not giving it enough time to get used to the 'feel' of it. I felt the same when I bought my Aerox after having ridden a Click 125 for many years. The Click was great, but the Earox felt stiff and unyielding against the very flexible Click. Now when I ride the Click it feels all wobbly and loose. It's not the bike's fault, it's me. My 'muscle memory' has adapted to the Aerox. Just give yourself a while to adjust to the ADV and stop comparing it to the Scoopy. Once you've adapted you'll start to have fun.
  15. Yes I agree with and it has been mentioned before, right from the day it happened in fact. But folks are all too busy playing the 'blame the Thai' game to take any notice. If you watch the video in the link at 1:12, it is quite clear that the collapse started at the top of the building, just as you have suggested. https://edition.cnn.com/2025/03/28/world/video/bangkok-building-collapse-myanmar-earthquake-digvid
  16. According to Bangkok post, all is well. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/special-reports/2925086/warning-system-still-robust-20-years-after-tsunami
  17. Maybe you weren't aware that that there was a 3 month subsidy on electricity bills that ended the previous month. Ours did the same.
  18. You might think that this is 'just 2c worth', but I think it is excellent advice.
  19. Go back and read the original story: 'In an eye-opening turn of events, four Chinese nationals were apprehended attempting to smuggle vital files from the wreckage of the collapsed State Audit Office building in Bangkok's Chatuchak district'.
  20. 12 hours by bus from where we live. That's 48 hours in total of 'your life in their hands!' Not a chance for either of us. I've read plenty of favourable reports regarding the agencies, so I'll leave it up to them.
  21. Women pee in cubicles. Didn't you know that? The only view that the men get is of them at the wash basins. When did you last see a man masturbating in a public toilet? (perhaps you'd better not answer that!)
  22. Wise obviously couldn't operate in any country without having partners within those countries. But the point I was making was that money does not move across borders. The partners in the various countries facilitate the payments both in and out on behalf of Wise. That is, principally why Wise are usually able to make 'instant transfers'. The use of the word 'transfer' is actually a little bit oxymoronic , but I guess no one can think of a better word to use.
  23. 'Life is really simple but we insist on making complicated'. Confucius (I wonder if he ever had to pay taxes)
  24. I don't see that there is any point to having an earthquake alarm at all. Any message that is sent out will be after the event. Earthquakes never give a prior warning. Tsunami warning are different of course. It takes time for the waves to arrive, so a warning might be of some practical use.
