Referring to just one person's experience out of the many thousands of similar cases, is hardly proof that my chosen way lacks efficacy. And there are, I'm sure many thousands of cases where conventional medicine has also failed to save lives.

Wise (Formerly TransferWise)
Moonlover replied to Emeraldisle's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
It's true that Wise is not a bank, but they regulated by the FCA in the UK and FinCEN in the US. They do not hold your money themselves, it is kept in escrow accounts, separate from their own funds. They do have an office in London and they have many offices around the world and there are real people in them. Here's a short list. Wise is, of course a transfer business, not a savings bank. I still have a UK bank account so I do not park money with Wise, but I wouldn't worry overly if I found it to be necessary. -

With every bank I use, it's a simple matter to download statements. -
Wise (Formerly TransferWise)

As you said yourself, using 3 or 4 banks, (3 actually) you can transfer more than the 50k limit. So which bank does the school use? If it's one of those 3 banks then there's no problem sending the higher amount. If, like me, you use a none partner bank, then 50k cap applies. I have noticed that just recently Wise have stopped posting the usual advice about this when making a transfer. I wonder whether the limit still applies. Has anyone out there tried? -
US to help Thailand develop small nuclear reactors
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes it's a good idea, but they are using power from conventional sources that is not being otherwise used during peak times. -
If you believe that @stoner you should read this article in the Guardian. I'm with @Lacessit on this one. The natural ways to good health are the best ways. I'm 76 now and still in good health and I never need to consult a doctor. Nor would I ever take out medical insurance. (not that I could now anyway)

US to help Thailand develop small nuclear reactors

Can you provide any evidence that these are in fact 'graveyards' and not newly produced items awaiting delivery? -
US to help Thailand develop small nuclear reactors
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Unless some very urgent and dramatic action is taken soon, it's likely there won't be any of our species left to worry about what is happening in to spent radioactive fuel in 10,000 years time. Probably a lot less in fact. Head in sand attitudes are not going to prevail for much longer. -

Yes they do, but it's long and very technical as one would expect. But you can read all about it here if you so wish. Better to be informed than to make uninformed comments. (A popular pass time on ASEAN NOW) -
US to help Thailand develop small nuclear reactors

Yup. Just what many countries need. There's an interesting web site right here. The problem with renewables is that there will always be an energy storage problem for when the source is not around, like nighttime for instance. -
Can Anyone Help Me Name Whatever Afflicted Me ?
Moonlover replied to allane's topic in Health and Medicine
You can continue finding doctors @allane who may or, it seams, may not be able to help you, or you can become proactive and summons the best healer of all. The one within you. I'm 76 years young now and I've been practicing 'Medical Qigong', a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine for around 12 years now. Although I occasionally suffer the kind of symptoms you mention, I can fend them off quickly and effectively using the techniques I have learned over the years, without medicine bottle in sight. And I enjoy it at well, what a bonus that is! Start with this book and then read the testimonials and the blogs. You will not regret it. -
Yes, I was charged 1,000 Baht at Udon Thani. I recall commenting to my wife that it cost me more to get the letter than it did to get 2 driving licenses. And then DLT ignored the letter and put my previous address on the new licenses. I had to go back and get them changed!

Can anyone recco a good printer that is available in Thailand ?
Moonlover replied to Pumpuynarak's topic in IT and Computers
I have the same printer as you and initially encountered the same problem. But I've devised a simple solution. Once a week I open the 'Canon U printer assistance tool' and run a nozzle check. It prints an all colours pattern so it's easy to check that it's working normally. This keeps the ink flowing and prevents it from drying out. The pattern only takes half a page so you can use the same sheet 4 times. I've had the printer for 3 years now and it is completely reliable. -
A charge made for a service rendered. Well who'd have believed it! If I recall correctly it was the same at Udon Thani office as well.
-
Just to balance the comments on this thread, my last 5 marriage extensions have all been at the Sakon Nakhon office and I have never once been asked for any monies other than that due for the services rendered.

Royal Thai Police suspend welfare gun program indefinitely
Moonlover replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I find it very difficult to reconcile the words 'welfare' and 'gun' in the same sentence. -
Video: No injuries but so close to potential death for many!

Always check before you go at traffic lights! Green does NOT means it's all clear. Very lucky all round here.- 21 replies

Oh most definitely a big improvement. Plenty of parking and good loo facilities out back. Photo of new building below. You need to go past it and do a U turn at the airport terminal. So sorry @EVENKEEL I've no idea what they charge for residence letters. I have a yellow house book, so I've no need for one.
-
Yes, they have moved folks. Their posh new facility is located close to the airport. Everything is new except for the same friendly and helpful staff. One drawback is that it's 10klm from the town centre, which could make life a bit tedious for those without their own transport. A screenshot is attached showing location.

We missed one month awhile back. I thought she'd paid it 7/11 and she thought I'd paid it on line. But there was no problem, I just paid 2 months together as soon as I got the bill and that was the end of the matter. Except that I always check now!

I have said that several times in this and other threads. But the evidence has all been anecdotal. However I have now sent a clear message to Wise asking them to give us a definitive answer on this matter. I shall 'banner headline' it when I receive an answer from them. I have also asked them why the 'transaction document' is now 3 pages long, providing the same information that 1 page used to. As if we don't already have enough paper to cart down to immigration. I'll need a wheelbarrow before too long!

All of my Wise transfers take place around 6:15 am, well before normal banking hours and at least 90% of them arrive instantly. And I've also just done one this morning and we all know it's a holiday. So yes, you can.

Now that's what I really call 'conclusive evidence'. Nice one. ????
