The rationale behind wearing masks is to stop you spreading infection, rather than being infected. Since every tourist entering the country has already been tested/quarantined etc, maybe multiple times, they will not be an infection source. That could be their attitude.I appreciate they may be infected whilst here, and should wear masks. I wear one to ensure I have a quiet life and don’t get any more disapproving looks than I already suffer.

No more medical rationale to this decision than there was with the original restriction. Obviously business owners applying pressure as they watch their profit margins disappear down the plug hole.

If Thai people are such devout Buddhists and opposed to the seamier side of life, who are all the customers of the short time hotels, karaoke bars, soapy massage parlours, go go bars etc etc? There are many more of these than can be supported by tourists or foreigner business and they can be found in every town in Thailand, not just tourist areas.

No mention of any fines for riders/parents, or payments made to return the motorcycles to their owners. Hitting offenders in their pockets and permanently removing their means to race are the only options if nowhere is provided for them to race legally.

They need to set up a website (not Immigration programmers) where people can submit dashcam footage of offending vehicles, with cash rewards of 50% of the fine for the informants and 10% for the courts/police who process them. Make the fines large enough to encourage owners to fix the vehicles and informants to send the videos. Start with bus and trucking companies and move on to the tuned pickups.

In UK and US law an essential difference between murder and manslaughter is murder must be carried out “with malice aforethought, either express or implied” which translates as an intention to kill or cause really serious bodily harm. If the prosecution can prove that the acts committed were intended at minimum to cause really serious bodily harm, then it will be murder. Otherwise it can only be manslaughter at most. So putting one bag on a victim’s head for short periods resulting in death might be manslaughter, whereas several bags and tape being used is good evidence of intent from the point of view that such actions showed at least recklessness for the welfare of the victim. It is difficult to prove what is in the mind of the killers, called mens rea, and depends on skillful interview and evidence gathered before and after the fact. i also don’t know to what extent Thai law follows these principles.

When temples appear to be more places of business than of worship, zoos, crocodile farms and snake farms care little for the welfare of the animals they display and schools seem to exist to enrich their owners rather than the minds of their students, I wonder what part of Thai culture the Minister thinks is worthy of protection?

I would like the Immigration Police to tell me one occasion where the 90 day reporting or TM30 systems have resulted in an arrest or fine for an offence that is not to do with the reporting systems. its just job and income generation, nothing to do with detecting undesirables or making the country safer.

I have just been sent an invitation to apply for M Pass the barrier less tolling system for Thai motorways relying on the latest ANPR technology. But there are no instructions in Thai or English on registration just a list of documents in mixed Thai and English which it looks like you have to download, fill in and print and send by snail mail. Probably written by the same elite programming team who can’t debug the 90 day reporting system or Thailand Pass and have to rely on printing and photocopying to collect information that either has been previously recorded or could easily be collected online.

Having failed yet again with online system sent 90 day by post on 24 Sep 2021 to Chaeng Wattana/Muang Ton Thani. Positive reply received 4 November 2021, so don’t give up hope if it takes a long time to process, grit your teeth and keep your EMS Receipt.

To check I had to look at all my transactions and cross refer to my Lazada orders etc. Quite difficult as Bangkok Bank do not record the vendors name/ID on the statement, just say “ Terminal”. Luckily all mine were legit.

Safety is very much a minor consideration in much of Thailand. It could be cultural, or connected to the fact that there is little chance of compensation for any injuries caused by safety lapses or negligence. Life is cheap.

I just hope the company appointed to maintain the surveillance databases isn’t the same one looking after the 90 day and TM28 online reporting systems.

My questions 1. Any witnesses or CCTV to the intrusion, or just householder’s word? 2. Why throw the gun in the pond? Remove householder’s DNA/fingerprints? If he wanted to guard tied up intruder, should keep gun, also destroyed evidence that would support his story. 3. Why call Puu Yai Baan before police emergency number? What needed to be discussed? Let’s hope there is a thorough investigation.

No extra measures to deal with the human trafficking and enslavement of crew on Thai fishing boats, reported regularly a little while ago?

Preliminary investigation for over a year, how complicated can it be? Just go to the Land Office and visit the scene. Don’t hold your breath for the investigation to complete.

Let’s hope they don’t involve any ex Thai Airways staff in its management!

After several previous successful attempts to do 90 day reports, I have not succeeded since my last extension renewal, it keeps saying I am on overstay. The online records of my previous reports have not been updated with the postal and personal applications I made as a result. I have now written and emailed IMM Division 1 and asked them to update the records, no reply yet. This may be why it is failing for others.
