Not strictly needed, but it should allow control of the output level of the inverters so I can turn off exporting on the days the meter reader may be noticing the meter going backwards. At the current power level there's no problem.

Does the meter reader tell you when he's coming, or do you keep a close eye on the spinning wheel and do a quick flip?

Interesting post by the way Crossy, as an old fabricating engineer it brought back a lot of memories, keep up the good work, want to see the finished job!

Once a computer is connected to a website via a browser, does it really matter what OS is being used? I can connect to my banks via Chrome, Brave or Firefox on my W10 PC, or via my Android phone, not using the app.

Saying that, my UK bank (Halifax) used to work on any browser now it won't work on chrome or firefox when i sign in it goes so far then reverts back to sign in page, when i phoned the bank they just suggested use another browser no rhyme or reason given, works perfectly in opera or ie though, think it might be something to do with another EU directive about tightening up security for online banking and online sales, who knows!

Thanks for that. And yes, when I got W7 @ Bht 4500 I was a novice. Since then all 3 x PCs work perfectly on keys from ebay @ £3 each.

As a little offshoot from your reference to the £3 ebay keys which i've seen and wondered about, would these keys work on a vista PC or is the system that much different?

No problem to run Windows 10 but you won't get best experience. You can swap ssd or sshd and add on more ram. Seeing default configuration is 3gb most 1 or 2 gb are soldered or you get 1 and 2gb sticks, you need to remove one of them.

Thanks for quick answer, i don't think the memory sticks are soldered from what i've seen, is it the memory that is lacking?

Can the bank determine which operating system you are using, I think not. And a VPN is not needed to access a UK bank, but is better to use one.

They seem to be able to determine what browser you are using my UK bank will not open with Chrome or Firefox gets so far, then constantly reverts back to the sign in page again, but is OK with Opera and IE browsers the advise given when i phoned the bank was use a different browser no rhyme or reasons given!

Go for W 10 Plus and you'll see how nice a PC can be.

Make sure that you've got 4 GB DDR 2 RAM and format the HD if you don't use an SSD.

It's so easy to run a set up, but please don't go to W 7, you'll always need a driver, W 10 Pro does check that automatically and downloads the right driver.

Don't go for a fishy Thai installation, they often have serious viruses on their installation drives.

I have plenty of W 10 keys ,I've bought of ebay. I can send you one for 150 baht with the guarantee that it works.

Or you buy one from ebay. If you do that alone, you'll learn a few new things you can always use in the future.

16 weeks for a settlement visa for a Thai person to UK and when they arrive they dont have to report to anyone for 2 years and 6 months. Then they report once to confirm they are still married and stay for another 2 years and 6 months and then they get residency and a UK passport. In those years they will get medical and emergency accident treatment for free.

Can you explain what I would have to go through to get the same?

Just a query, you say 2yrs 6mths my wife has UK ILTR and we live in Thailand and as far as i'm aware she must show up in the UK every 2 years to keep her ILTR valid not 2 yrs 6 months, the rest of your post i agree with 100% you could be here 50yrs and you are still treated as a non-emigrant with zero extras!

    I also`

I also have a Nationwide account and its locked up with a few thousand in it. Looks like I'll have to go back to UK to sort out Nat West and Nationwide. They are a pain in the ****

My Nationwide has not been locked (yet) although i don't send money to Thailand with it, use it only for paypal payments which i set up recently when the aforementioned Halifax card expired!

Nat West is such a croc of **** I have not even used my 40 year old bank account with them. They are totally UK centric and I cant get cards or that card machine thingy sent here.

Halifax Bank are the same they say they have an embargo on Thailand and will not send card, but it does not me stop sending money to Thailand at £9.50 a transfer no matter how big or small, Nationwide no problems sending card!

Interesting that the news report specifies the alleged shooter as being "white". Usually, when reporting crimes, the forces of law and the media conspire to avoid mentioning  colour or ethnicity. This is particularly true in Norway and other "progressive" Scandinavian countries.

Had the attacker targeted, say, a Christian church or Jewish synagogue, you can be certain we would not have been told if he was anything OTHER than white.

Why the double standard? We should be told colour and ethnicity, where known, in all instances - or none.

And usually described as not terror related!

The silver spitfire is actually a mk IX from I think about 1954? and its just worth mentioning here that you will need to keep an eye on the web page to see if the route is going according to plan, its a long journey and there are bound to be issues along the way. A WW2 spit had a range of about 300 miles whereas this one has about 500 miles which might help with where its calling along the way, no garages at XX thousand feet!

Experienced them down the Mall and on the way back to Farnborough station a sight and sound like no other. This one I guess will have the RR Griffon engine rather than the Merlin, not compared the sound but there are some sounds that are exceptional, Spitfire, Lancaster, Concorde and not forgetting the English Electric Deltic, can hear them for miles coming and you know whats coming. When I was at work in the 1970/80s I used the 0550 out of Kings Cross Deltic as my alarm!

Not disputing anything you are saying, but the report i read in one of UK papers said the plane the silver spitfire was nearly eighty years old which would mean !939/40ish also mentioned in a later post on this site as being nearly eighty which would mean a lot earlier than 1954, never less a beautiful plane and fabulous sound, i remember two of these planes flew low overhead where and when i lived near Northolt airport at some show or other, and as you say the sound makes the hair on the back of your head stand up fantastic!

So many times I have seen red being charged more than the locals. I even stopped going to parks because of this atrocity of being raped. It would be a good direction to go. They could have discounts to seniors and students and such, but as average human beings, same same, not different.

Exactly, i also refuse to go to parks etc. for this 1000% rip off, leaves a sour taste when all the Thais you are with get in that much cheaper, it's the principal that counts, not that i think this reduction will ever happen though, shall wait now to get shot down by the usual snipers!

A card reader is absolutely no use for making Internet payments.  The only authentication they accept is a text message to a UK 'phone number.

I recently ordered an item through ebay UK using my card reader with no problem, other than the long winded delivery from China!
