it may be a cultural thing but when an emergency viehicle come up behind you fast its just logical to let them get passed you. they seem to have had cars for a while, seems like they would know about fire truck and ambulances. very strange attitude and education. i went and visited my sister in new jersey in the usa- an ambulance was coming and it was like moses parting the red sea lol. all the cars on both sides of the street pulled over.

Yes it would seem a natural instinct just clear the way in any way possible, as you mentioned above, in the UK and the rest of Europe i presume it would be just the same, even with narrower roads etc. just bump up on the kerb if need be, yet she still got away lightly with her pathetic excuse!

This guy is a legend.  A renowned comedian (uncle tool), a muscian/songwriter with 2 number 1 hits, a poet, playwrite and actor, a children's entertainer who the wiggles admire, an international statesman, highly decorated soldier, admired politician and now a super model.  Is there no end to this man's talent?

You one of his most important talents he can talk to frogs, not many of us can do that!

A bit of a half truth there IMO, it may be considerably harder to be accepted into other countries as an immigrant in the first place, but once you're there it is a whole lot easier to stay there. For example in the UK as a apouse of a UK citizen - no WP required, no annual extensions (just FLTR and ILTR), no 90 day reporting and citizenship after a few years.

True, and can buy as much land as they want (if they can afford it) my Thai wife has ILTR and we have now been in Thailand coming up for 5 years, as long as she makes a trip back every two years (with or without me) that is the only requirement needed for ILTR, her visa stays good that is the only requirement asked for!

I have my extension later this month, got my proof of income letter from British Embassy end of Dec.

Am I correct in thinking that only 5 photographs are needed now, two outside (one with house number) and three inside the house. And none of the photo's need the witness on, and indeed a witness is not required at Jomtien Immigration, although a house visit from immigration may be likely.

As for proof from British embassy we had the required money in a Thai bank, so embassy proof not needed in our case, just a letter from bank (not more than two days old) showing this money deposited three months before extension!

Yes that is correct we were rejected because our inside photos should have been me and wife together in different locations in the house which in our case meant one picture on one sofa and one picture across the room on another sofa, these two pictures we did not have, and one including family members ie. children, crazy really, the family picture did include the witness which they did not mention, the two outside with house number showing in one, again included our witness again no mention of this, obviously at the next extension the witness not being needed will not be shown in any pictures, unless of course they change their rules again!

Last year my photos where not excepted as we had included a "witness"  we had also dragged him to immigration with us where they said  "no need for a witness"  ,so after filling in the "new TM7 form"  getting "new photos"

photo copies ,signatures etc etc etc  application accepted  then 2 days later  they call and say they want to interview us at home ohh and bring the witness !!!!   that was the first time they have ever done a house visit

(6 years) this year I don't know if they will require the witness or not and/or visit again..I'm dreading having to apply  again next month ????

What you have posted there is pretty much what happened to me a couple of weeks back, so i would say you will not need a witness, our home visit with witness was today!

I have 4 UK bank accounts (including Nationwide) and 4 credit cards  and have been here 12 years now with absolutely no problems whatsoever although I do maintain a UK address with relatives. (not on electoral roll). oh and UK Paypal credit if I need it.

Does Nationwide send replacement debit cards to your Thai address?

Yes, i got a replacement a couple of years back sent to my Sattahip address no problem, (must check to see if it has expired yet)

  8. A little update on this thread, when they told us a witness was not required for the extensions, they also said there would be a home visit or their words an "interview" in your home, yesterday they rang my wife and said they would visit today Frid 01/03 and to have a witness ready, they duly turned up took 4 more pictures one showing number of the house again and two on the porch, they only interviewed our witness, the whole visit lasted about 6 minutes, not once did they enter the house, so presumably this is lieu of no witness required at their office in Jom Thien, unless of course ours was a one off visit, i don't know!
