  1. Yet in another OP running the revenue department is retracing its words.....oh what a tangled web which has been weaved.
  2. Sounds like someone got caught with there pants down after telling folks about the proposal. Hard to not post a retraction, but whose head will now be on the chopping block for letting this out. Someone is tip toeing around the story and trying to save some FACE it appears by blaming a law passed 40 years ago.
  3. Left scratching my head on this new proposed policy. One wonders what the finances in the country truly are and how much is left in the coffers. Should be someone who has the information to step forward with the info and a reason a true reason, why this policy is being discussed. The more that stuff like this arises, at least to me, it makes tourists in my view just shake there heads and choose to go elsewhere. Soon there will be no Visa Exempt arrivals if they keep going this way.
  4. You must be in Hua Hin, because I did that here in December. I had to return to the little office in the back as I got to the car as she had given me another persons certificate of residence in the envelope she gave me. My mistake for not checking it as she handed it to me. The amount of paperwork needed here is amazing.
  5. I have yet to see the country fully and truly return to peace and happiness. Thailand's been caught in a cycle of conflict during its last several decades. Somehow they need someone who is capable of uniting the masses including the old-school folks and the younger folks. This country has been divided not only in its politics but by a long standing not spoken of class system.
  6. As a side note to the above referenced video, the information is from the beginning of the new LTR Process. Within the past few months the BOI has codified how the shortfall must be covered, and many are finding they need to purchase the annuity or to use property (Condo) as the backstop. I would caution one to rely only on information they obtained from a BOI representative, in todays time frame, to ensure they have the right information. @Pibis a good source of information as he does have his finger on the pulse for this class of Visa.
  7. I am filled with sadness to hear about the passing of Ubon Joe. He was a great man, and was very helpful throughout all of my trials and tribulations with Visa related issues, questions and of course how to navigate the 90 day on-line application. Looking back through all my PM's with him, I found we connected no less than 30 times over the past many years. In each of the PM's he was on-point with all of the information he gave and was always a true gentleman. When I had to change visas from a Non-Imm O to an O-A visa he directed me as to where I could find all of the new requirements which were arriving in 2019. Without his guidance, and Thai Visa at the time as it was then known, I would have been completely lost. May Joe RIP and my sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
  8. Can you please show me where I can find the information which can corroborate your last 3 lines. Finding it hard to find any links to verify your statements, or are the last 3 lines a personal view? I mean I am truly interested to see the truth behind what you have written. I am no fan of the man, but my view is that he did more for the country and moved it forward where the current folks have set it back at least a decade.
  9. Never underestimate the social networking which is being followed closely and arrests made by this government over those posts, or have you not been paying attention to the news etc....over the past 5 plus years.
  10. Yet you just hit the proverbial nail on the head.
  11. Please tell me how, sans a full scale revolution that would have been ended quickly by the government in power, that what you say could be accomplished in this country. I guess you did not see the arrests of the protestors and charges laid for things that took them out of the spotlight, with a few still being in jail, yet not convicted.
  12. Could it be that they vote for who they believe will be helpful to them as far as monetary policies.
  13. It surely is nearly closer to a million baht than half a million baht. However, why did it take so long for folks to figure out that there information had been stolen and money taken out using there personal information. This country is rife for identity theft, with the stacks upon stacks of paperwork needed at DLT, Immigration and the 2 copies made every time I go to the bank of my passport and so on. All of this information is already available to those folks via a digital footprint that they have at there disposal.....
  14. One can only hope, it has already, in my book, exceeded the maximum 8 year statute. Yet it appears that when you run the country you make your own rules and install similar thinking minds, or at least ones, that do not look at the laws as they are written. Again just my view and opinion.........
  15. Better double check your sources, you need a permit to have it here in Thailand as possessing cyanide without a license is illegal in Thailand, per the above posted article.
  16. How many times has this can been kicked down the road. Of course until a new government is in place to decide the status of such a fee it is a moot point
  17. What would you call them if they are not your everyday type of person? Are they Chemists?, Gold purifiers?, Science instructors?. I am confused. The 100 people are the ones who bought out of the same batch as Aem Cyanide, so we have no idea now as to how much cyanide is sold and to whom.
  18. Is he going to be nominated for PM, is he going to be on the ballot? Does it matter who controls a political group. You must think that the Prawit led PPRP, or the BJT Anutin led group or Prayuts new group are not corrupt. Tell me Thailand has been better for the last 9 years under this current group then it was under the Thaksin administration. I know that you and I have been here under both sets of leadership. Tell me the country has not gone backwards, because I believe it has. We can agree to disagree as we have on many subjects
  19. If what you allude to and you say in your last two sentences is true, then Thailands current group in power is playing with fire, and it will not sit well with the west at all. To many irons in the fire.
  20. @mellAre you returning in the near future? You can do it 14 days prior to your due date by using the online system here: Apply for Notification of Staying in the Kingdom or you can do it up to 7 days after the due date, but at that point you must do it in person. You can also do it by post.
  21. You have me confused, is the criminal fugitive on the ballot? is the criminal fugitive in the running for PM? As usual your talking nonsense. I understand your dislike for PT but all parties here in Thailand are corrupt in one way or another.
