Thailand to reduce visa approval time for Chinese tourists
Scouse123 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yeah, They want to make swiping 2 million baht handbags at the airport easier, opening Gambling dens in Bangkok, online gambling and romance scams and allow the triads easier access. What a great idea, I suppose we shall all have to get up at 5.30 am in the hotels to stand a chance at breakfast. -
Currency Transfer Using Wise.com
Scouse123 replied to fceligoj's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I had a request from Wise for ID and face recognition the other week whilst I was down in Cambodia staying in a hotel when I made a transfer instead of my usual home address in Thailand. I provided it, it said it matched and sent the money in minutes. -
The room was good for a government hospital. I initially was placed on a mixed ward with some very sick elderly people, both male and female. I had booked and requested a private room. I was near the toilets and had the unfortunate experience of witnessing bedpans and urine containers coming past my bed being emptied and cleaned by family members. They were also bed bathing their relatives who could not walk to the toilets. A fairly humbling experience was there showing the depth of feelings and respect these Thais showed to their relatives. it was a whole new world being moved to a private room. The room meals were fairly basic but in with the price and I gave them to my partner who stayed with me and slept on the sofa bed beside mine. They also supplied toiletries package included, but I had taken my own so I gave them away to a patient as I was leaving.

Hi, Yes, I was out cold for the entire procedure. I am not sure exactly what they used but it goes up your nose and I was in a deep sleep and awoke somewhat euphoric and it took a good hour and a bit to wear off. So according to my paperwork there were four involved, the doctor, two assistants and an anesthetist. They gave me a document showing the intestine and photographs of what they found and removed and sent to the city lab in downtown Kalasin for analysis. I get the result by the 14th July.

Hi, After a recent post by a guy bashing the Thai health system, I thought I would add my sixpence worth:- I had a bowel screen done in the UK, which recommended a colonoscopy be carried out as they found slight irregularities and I said I would get it done on my return to Thailand. Anyway, I visited my local government hospital which is very near my house and advertises this procedure. My private hospital is two to two and a half hours away in Khonkaen. I went on Friday, spoke to the specialist who said she could admit me Sunday and carry out the procedure on Monday. Now that is fast! I booked a VIP room, which was unavailable when I got there, but I was later transferred to it, which was great. Privacy, peace, private bathroom, toiletries, and food for a Thai relative who would stay with me and a sleeping area provided for them. On Monday morning to my surprise, I was taken to the surgical department at 8.30 am, even though they said there was a queue. There I was waiting for about an hour. I had fasted the day before and taken the drinking fluid they had provided to clear me out. I was placed under anesthesia and was out of it until to awake sometime later in a side ward. They informed me they had removed one polyp in the descending colon area and this has been sent for analysis to Kalasin. Throughout the day before and the day of the procedure, I was monitored constantly with blood pressure checks, heart monitors, and various blood tests. The staff was thorough, attentive, and professional. My total bill for this, plus a biopsy analysis, follow-up appointment, VIP room, Colonoscopy procedure, and removal of a polyp was 9,800 Baht.

Greed, greed and more greed. Enough said -
The OP has made sweeping statements regards the whole of the medical professionals in Thailand. I am privately insured in Thailand, however, I use the local government hospital very near my home for non emergency procedures. I have had short tempered staff but a lot of times they are dealing ( in Isaarn) with people who are just totally uneducated and have no ability to understand. The doctors and nurses are " warriors " fighting for those who have no money and providing the best care with very limited resources. They are very poorly paid and could earn far more in the private sector in Bangkok etc Once a year, they ask for donations to assist the hospital and I willingly chip in. They do their best under pressure. No complaints from me!

What do you believe happens to you when you die?
Scouse123 replied to 1FinickyOne's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Dead as a,Dodo and that's it, thats all. World been here 4 5 billion years, silly religions about 6,000 years in total. What you see is what you get. When you are gone , that's it, finished and final IMO. -
Love ISAARN, love isaarn food. Built houses here 20+ years ago and no plans on moving. I can get to Roi Et in 50 minutes and fly to Bangkok in 50 minutes and from Don Muang to Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia etc Not everyone's cup of tea, and sometimes the stupidity of locals cheeses me off, but better than a wet Wednesday in the UK. Roi et a good city to visit as is Mukdahan, also handy for Laos. Khonkaen nearby, good highways. Loads of good food in Isaarn. You create your own environment!

They shouldn't be ' requesting ' anything from the taxi mafias that operate there through fear and intimidation and bullying. They should completely break up these mafia cartels operating there with impunity, ...............................however, they won't! The tail is wagging the dog down in Phuket and that's why we stopped going. Not only taxi mafias, restaurant scams, jet ski scams etc, it makes you feel uncomfortable and women especially do not feel safe as solo travellers with this kind of behaviour. All a misunderstanding my Harris!

Also the problem is as usual Thailand trying to position itself as friends to everyone and loyal to none, as we saw in WW11. Japan just walked in and took over, never mind this country has never been taken over, ( of course it has) The were Japanese allies...until the Japanese started losing!!! It doesn't work, it's a game the Thais have played for years. The USA does not need land bases in Thailand. I am quite pleased as an ex veteran with the current and needed, cooperation between Australia, the USA, New Zealand and the UK.
