  1. That's a thought; not wearing a mask will ensure you get personal space everywhere:)
  2. Maybe that is the same guy in the carpark who ran me over with his car, I asked him; "why you try to kill me?" he just shrugged his boulders and continued on his merry way.
  3. exactly my thought:) Why would you prefer to remove the mask in all those public places??? must be something wrong with the survey questionnaire.
  4. That UK study shows nothing, as you say. It is inconclusive. 1. It deals with children, who are less likely than adults to be severely affected. Also being in classrooms all day long together with other possibly infected students, lessens the effectiveness of masks by a large factor, because of the prolonged possible exposure. My Daughter goes to school and all wear masks in school, despite that, about one student in her class gets tested positive weekly. Me and my wife tested positive about 2 months ago, our children both tested negative, even when one of them had mild symptoms. We did tests every day during the bout, it took about 7 days for me and wife to test negative. We all have vaccinated including booster shot before. 2. Wearing a mask in public spaces has a much greater protective potential because the possible exposures may be very brief, that is where a mask makes a difference.
  5. Certainly, because a Boutique Hotel on South Jomtien that cost 800 Baht about 2 months ago for our family of three, now cost about 1,800 Baht and we have to pay 700 Baht for an extra bed for our Daughter. We thanked them and said no thanks.
  6. There are 12 Thai Nationals on Interpol's Red list, Vorayuth is not on that list. When you read the charges for People on that list from other Nations, the charges are fairly detailed and clear, for the Thai, however, it is ridiculously short and confusing, many of them just say "carried out the act of smuggling of migrants" (most are about smuggling) and "abduction" with no descriptive information whatsoever.
  7. No Russians nor Chinese nowadays, So I take the chance and opportunity to enjoy it while I can, before they return:) Been going there frequently for more than a year now (when it has been open), everything very cheap and very few people. Thai tourists and the occasional Farang.
  8. As far as I know, Zebras only exist in Zoos in Thailand. Why they would have dedicated road crossings for Zebras is completely confusing to me. I can understand if there are these crossings inside a zoo. Having all these Zebra crossings all over Thailand for Zebras that never use them is totally nonsense, what a waste of money! Think of the maintenance costs for all these crossings that are never used!
  9. What's an ATK? And BTW, Koh Larn outside Pattaya is way better than Koh Samet. Samet is full of Rich Bangkok Brats, expensive and always fully booked. Koh Larn is not a national park. And with almost 70% of the Thai population fully vaccinated, what's the point?
  10. I never go too fast. And I was just pointing out that the stuff simply is not working, I was not discussing speeds in general, just pointing out that stuff that the Thai Govt. installs anywhere, stops working after a while because somehow somebody didn't plan for maintenance.
  11. Just this weekend I was travelling both south and back North and I'm 100% sure most of the displays showed completely erratic speeds. And yes, I am aware that the speedometers of all vehicles are deliberately calibrated to show a slightly higher speed than actual, because they are allowed to error on that side but have 0 allowance to error on the other side.
  12. Huh??? There are cameras that actually are in working condition???. You would think the cameras would be in a similar condition as the speed displays over the motorway lanes that show you are travelling at 87 km/h when your actual speed is more like 120 km/h:)
  13. When I switched to a 5G phone (bought at True, with discount), They did not change the SIM card, it is the same one as I used on my 4G phone. There is an indicator on the phone showing if 5G or 4G is used, most of the time it shows 5G, only in some remote areas it switches to 4G. I have a second SIM card from my work which is also from True. If I switch Mobile data to use that SIM card (the one from my work) it indicates 5G is used as well. So it seems to me that if you have a 5G phone, that is all that is needed, no need for a dedicated 5G subscription, unless the work True contract has changed to 5G as well, which I wouldn't be aware of. For the performance of 5G, it is vastly superior to 4G, especially when downloading/uploading/streaming large amounts of data. But for True, I have experienced disruptions where the phone indicates 5G is active, but there is no data transfer for a while and then it works again after a little while, I assume that is some technical difficulties that is going to go away eventually. 5G is supposed to be vastly superior to 4G when it is fully implemented, it should be more like wifi, with large number of mini and micro stations everywhere instead of the huge towers.
  14. With almost 70% of the Thai population fully vaccinated, stop the worry and just keep on vaccing!
  15. Are you serious? This IS the place for finger pointing, unfounded hypothesizes, and insults!
  16. Just grind down the old thinset, it is normally very strongly bonded with the underlying concrete (if done correctly in the first place) and determining where the thinset starts and concrete ends is very difficult, especially if concrete is rough. Try levelling as much as possible. Self levelling cement takes a lot of experience and team work to apply. I have never met a contractor in Thailand that even understands the concept. Here it is always just thinset and tiles. Also self levelling cement is usually not used for tiling, but for other floor arrangements. for tiling, you would then need to apply another layer of thinset on top of the self levelling cement, which I am not sure about bonding because the surface would be very smooth. And I agree with Don Chance, that looks very cool!
  17. Good to hear they improved. Have to admit I have no personal experience of the current model, but my friend who is a mechanic have one.
  18. Honda CRV, since it's inception many years ago, have increased it's "stuff" to the point of overloading. keeping some original components, it has increased in size, weight without improving basic components like bushings and such. About 7 years down the road Honda service center will hit ya with 50,000 service bill just to change "basic" stuff, including the notoriously <deleted>ty air condition compressor (google it). The four wheel drive stuff is cool until you realize that's the reason you need to change tires every year for a total of about 16,000 to 20,000 baht depending on what tires you like. On my latest rear wheel driven pickup, I still use the tires that was supplied with the car 4 years ago when I bought it:), And about same mileage for both cars in same amount of years.
  19. You just have to choose the right place to swim and it will be ok. Never swim around the tourist centers like Pattaya, Hua Hin, Phuket etc. The military Naval beaches starting just south of Jomtien are perfect for swimming, they are kept clean by the military and there is no sewers leading to these beaches. Water is crystal clear. Try Had Sai Kaew or down in Sattahip the Had Nang Rong.
  20. As I understand, there is a general allowance for driver licenses to expire until the Covid is over or at least eased.
  21. Even as a tourist, good luck with the @!!@$ queue at the airport:)
  22. Don't cry for me, Argentina.... always makes me cry:)
  23. Eventually the whole cryptocurrency thing will collapse. It will come to a point were the power consumption for farming the various cryptocurrencies will become so enormous, it will start to have an effect on the normal economy and then, who knows what will happen.
