British Man Sparks Outrage in Thai Restaurant Incident

Yes, they didn’t have his choice of alcohol which is what set him off. It was clearly written in the OP. Yep, I read that... Which seems a very 'odd thing' to kick off about... So the guy was either mentally unhinged and a total idiot (quite likely). OR... as we keep finding out here... there is more to the story that is not initially reported.... In fact its becoming more and more common here to read stories that are one sided and we find out something else happened and we only see a video of the end result. You never consider this as you really dont want there to be any other possibility and lack the critical balance to intelligent evaluate the possibilities of various situations... You want to 'bash the Brit' so this serves you perfectly... ... If this were a situation reversed, you'd be blaming the Brit and laying the accusation that he must have done something to avoid the Thai's.... then follow up with a comment "nice people the Thai's".. Brit was a complete idiot - I'm just putting it out there that there may be something more to the story than the type of beer available... -

Your reality is different from mine. Quite likely because of the area's you frequent. Out of a group of 20 last night... one 'rode home' after 2 beers, everyone else took Taxis / Grab / Bolt - (most if not all also have their own cars).... The results of your 'real life survey' are like that because you are hanging around with like minded chancers, scum and inconsiderate cock-roaches.... You must be too stupid to know how to call a taxi. -

It didn't really... It make social media, picked up by a small news outlet and linked here because this is a 'Western Centric' source of information and thus information such as this is likely to draw attention.... Take thailand and there were probably numerous situations in bars and restraints last night - stabbing, shooting etc... fights etc... but Thai on Thai doesn't really capture the interest on forums such as this so coverage is less likely. -

Just curious - how many times have you seen this behavior in person ? I go out quite a lot and this behavior is a rarity - Social media and the news magnifying such behavior makes this seem far more common than it really is IMO.... Most people are quite decent (except the ayhole drunks who insist on driving when taxi's are as cheap as a beer). -

His behavior was extremely poor - they were right to kick-him out. I'd also agree with giving him a warning - but not reviewing his visa is somewhat of a 'hangem high post'... ... Did something happen before this ?... we keep seeing one sided news which feeds the rhetoric of 'anti-farang' sentiment then later find out something else happened.... The Brit was clearly a dick... but the behavior is hardly cause to revoke or not renew his visa... I'd say someone caught drink driving is more deserving of such a response. -

Your poll was rubbish with loaded questions and you know it... One of the questions was << Yes, I am competent to drive after having a few, but I don’t drive when blind drunk >> Which can mean someone drives after two beers and is within the limit - but they answer yes because there was no other valid option... You keep quoting this 78% and quoting your home ball BS poll to justify your own drink driving after 10 beers which is 'drunk driving'.... Typical hypocrite-cockroach behavior claim the moral high-ground against misbehaving Brits while being one of the worst and knowingly could kill someone through your actions. -
British Embassy Faces Rising Consular Case Demands in Thailand
richard_smith237 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The first official British consulate was established in Alicante, Spain, in 1584. The first formal diplomatic mission from Britain to Siam was led by John Crawfurd in 1822, but this was exploratory and diplomatic in nature. The first British Consulate in Siam was officially established in Bangkok in 1856, following the signing of the Bowring Treaty (also known as the Anglo-Siamese Treaty). The British Consulate in Thailand (then Siam) was formally upgraded to an Embassy in 1947, following World War II. I agree, with your comments though - A consulate is an essential mission in any nation where there are British Subjects, some of those countries are not considered 'worth while' or too costly to position an Embassy where trade and security matters are considered of less importance. Many such countries exist. However, that does not detract from the fact that where Embassies are present their primary mission is not consular services - though they are of course necessary. -

Great bit of PR.... People love it, makes them feel important subjects !!!... But if you think the weighting of the Consular Section's of each of the British Embassies is considered more important than Diplomatic Representation, Trade and Investment Promotion, Security and Defence Collaboration and Cultural and Educational Cooperation.... Good for you... ... But you'll find yourself disappointed - As I repeatedly highlight: 'There is a common misconception that Embassies / missions exist primarily to serve as a safety net for their citizens abroad, this is not the case'..... -

it was actually you boasting about getting your mates off drink driving charges using your police friends, not me. I do have my doubts about the truthfulness of your story though. It is a bit far fetched, a farang calling the Thai police to get Thais off drink driving? Unlikely. OK cockroach... if you say so.... -

You were boasting about on another thread. You know it, I know it. If you say so cockroach... -
Why are you posting such garbage? Do you realize that this person does not represent the mindset of the population? Agreed. It is a broad generalisation that does not reflect the mindset of all drivers in Thailand. The term "Third World Country" has evolved over time and perhaps now considered a slur. Instead, "developing nation" is now the preferred term. While Thailand boasts many developed areas and has demonstrated reasonable economic progress, there are significant facets in which development has lagged behind. One such area is attitudes towards safety, which have shown little to no improvement. The glaring absence of responsibility in this regard is evident to even the most impartial observer. It is precisely such observations that fuel the continued use of the term "Third World Country" - and more specifically, "Third World Country thinking" as a euphemism for outdated or regressive practices. When viewed on a national and cultural scale, Thailand’s approach to safety remains alarmingly poor. In this regard, there has been no meaningful progress for decades...

Perhaps you are different in person - but on this forum you are one of the nastiest negative anti-brits I who posts.... I can't imagine you lifting a finger for any Brit, any foreigner for that matter.... Though you have just stood up against vapid bigotry targeted against Russians, which is rather surprising - a glimmer of a redeeming feature - the slightest hope for you yet Malky..... -

As are 78% of the members on this forum. Nope... you were never clever enough to interpret your own poll... .. It only counted those who could be bothered to respond - not all forum members... Most contributors would have just ignored the idiotic poll in the first place... .... Additionally, the questions in your poll were also fundamentally flawed leading to flawed results ("have you ever had a drink and driven?" is quite a different question from "do you drink drive?"...) But.... go ahead and justify that its ok being an ayhole drink driver because you think lots of others are. -
Electric Vehicles in Thailand

How about an 88.1 KwH battery that will charged from 10-90% in 25 mins with 250 KW charger (mathematically)- I didn't calculate for more than 250 kW chargers because I've not see any (as you mentioned). BUT... realistically 'real world'... 30-80% while having a KFC at a service station (about 20 mins or so) - DC 150 kW fast charger I think it was. Depends on use - but we have not used anything other than the home charger since before Christmas... How much range do you need ?? - we're doing less than 100km per day and charge over night at home.
