  1. Absolutely!…right up until the time you or your loved one is on a mortuary slab….
  2. For about 1000 baht I got Isuzu one with our Isuzu pickup about 7 years ago. It’s infrequently used but still just roughly rolled up in the garage and no sign of wear at all. If car parked in the shade there’s little use for it other than to protect from bird ???? if that’s an issue?
  3. Go diving, and you can hear all sorts of noises from nature. Especially the parrotfish gnawing on the coral!
  4. But the preposterous reciprocal arrangements you originally suggested (and rightly ridiculed by another) don’t in anyway address the problem you then identify here. You’re thinking with 'Thai logic'! ????
  5. The military mindset is not best suited to commercial and economic understanding and plans to revive a vital industry are largely confined to wishful thinking.
  6. These pointless re-enactments and comical pointing are excruciatingly embarrassing farces perpetuated by a juvenile mind set . ????
  7. Absolutely,to any Thai getting in the back of my truck I politely say " Kem cut" (seatbelt) for that very reason. They’re not going anywhere without complying..
  8. Match of the day available on bbc iPlayer from 6am is a great alternative for highlights
  9. There are many culprits, not least the general cultural attitudes towards safety and enforcement , which is evident across a wide range of facets ,especially the roads .
  10. Their perception of wealth is terribly narrow and ill informed. It’s limited to what they see you showing off . Investments, pension plans and that you might still have a house worth £several hundred thousand (or more) in your home country are completely invisible to them.
  11. I would venture that housing and now certainly domestic energy bills and gasoline are significantly cheaper in Thailand,as would be eating out and hotels? Apart from the roads safety pretty good here too.
  12. The old reason was the power sapping torque converter of an automatic, but that’s not applicable any more so an automatic really has no disadvantages and operate so always in the right gear. Most have paddle shifters for the rare occasion you want to choose differently. It’s rather like not wanting anti lock brakes. I used to prefer manual until I drove a paddle shift SMG on my BMW M3 which was far better
  13. Most of the breads available certainly fit that description but the big C in store bake is very much better
  14. The salient point is that between it and Russia it’s a huge exporter,so many non producing countries rely on it. Same with sunflower seeds. 2 litre bottle of sunflower oil in Tesco/big C significantly increased to 199 baht, one with a 3 bottle purchase limit.
  15. They’re actually pretty useless at driving fast other than a straight line. I’ve frequently been tail gated on the straight but because I’ve done many track days I’m a much better judge of cornering speed, turn in ,apex and exit point,so find that they’ve dropped behind while without gunning it I’ve just smoothly held the correct line while they unnecessarily brake ,saw away at the wheel and use the incorrect line. Then they desperately floor it to catch up…until the next bend! ????
  16. There’s a tacit agreement between government and the Thai population : we don’t care about ourselves so neither does the government. Carry on…
  17. Big C instore bakery has always had the best range of premium loafs - Multigrain, multi seed low GI (my favourite) Wholemeal,Sourdough etc. but the Pak Chong branch has had none for weeks ,saying 'no powder' presumably meaning flour ,I suspect as a result of the Ukraine war. The prepackaged stuff ,even the so called premium stuff, from various retailers is all revolting by comparison. Is this situation mirrored in other Big C stores I wonder ?
  18. There’s certainly pent up Western demand for holidays as the chaos in U.K. and other European airports attest. Of course here they’ll have poor understanding of the complex dynamics ,especially re the reduced capacity issues of both airports and airlines themselves. BA's further postponement until further notice ,which includes Thailand’s high season, meaning and implication will be lost on the simple minded Tourist industry officials,as will any concept of the ramifications of how to resurrect the diminished infrastructure of a decimated tourist industry. Their simplistic thinking amounts to no more than reopening a tap.
  19. False equivalence. What of the high profile very rich names jailed in USA ? Epstein,Maxwell , CEO of VW etc. You may be able to afford good quality lawyers but they don’t necessarily mean acquittal.
  20. Had 3BB internet in 2 fairly remote locations for some years. The speed has always been good as has reliability and customer service. They’re very quick to deal with any problems or outages.
