  1. I don't think it's ALWAYS a case of feeling sorry for the service provider whether they be a bellboy or waiter It's GUILT that gets most people to tip and in sure StickyRiceBalls as a experienced barman could psychological make you feel guilty for not tipping so people do ,
  2. So that got me thinking , and you should know by your hospitality experience Did people tip you because they wanted something, whether that was because they were going to see you again or extra service etc Or because they genuinely appreciated you ??? I guess it could be both but people are selfish Did they EXPECT more from you as tippers in your hospitality work and was you personally obligated to do that for them?
  3. Excellent viewpoint and if one must say...a fine Gentleman too
  4. Very true ,very true what you say especially regarding hospitality staff But I had it backfire on me a few times Eg tipping the hotel reception only to find out they were only working one day a week so wouldn't see them again during my stay , obviously i tipped to get a benefit during my stay but it backfired
  5. Nope..bum rattler ,I'm up ya mums bum Wheels 😂 I had to laugh writing that ,I found it funny and started laughing , did anyone else find my reply funny ? Up ya mums bum Wheels! 😂 Does anyone remember the NRL back in 2002 when Queensland vs NSW were playing and a NSW supporter had a large banner displayed to QLD footy player Wally Lewis which read *Wally ,up ya mums bum ! And Wally Lewis saw it whilst playing and gave the guy the two fingers !🖕🖕
  6. Yes same me I think it's the psychometrics of it all to tell you honestly A interesting Statistical point of view which is related may I say to the financial collapse of the cost of living . Many of the retired expats are on fixed income of course Great to compile a great starting viewpoint thankyou
  7. Wheels , Stop replying to my posts ,your blocked anyway Wheels ! I have to unblock your post to read it ,too time consuming,it goes into a advert then I have to read it Get out of your wheelchair wheels and do something constructive instead of replying to my posts ,stay away from my posts !! You see my posts block them like done to you wheely And don't reply ,your blocked and I couldn't be bothered trying to open your blocked post and go to adverts for a few minutes to read it Your blocked now rack off !
  8. This is what I'm talking about and no disrespect to you but ........are you now a minority do you think ? Are these current expats still doing the same as you ? I don't think it's as common as it once was especially in non tourist areas
  9. You up at 6am? On a Saturday morning?
  10. I'm thinking and I have no evidence but I'm thinking tipping is going out of fashion with expats living in Asia Of course many are in fixed incomes and cannot tip all the time
  11. This question is mainly do with expats ,older guys who retired ,not tourists or " 2 week millionaire" visitors to Asia but you can answer if you want, but obviously if your a tourist you would be tipping everyone from the bellboy to the hotel reception And yes I said Asia ,whether you live Thailand ,in Philippines,Bali or Cambodia as a expat , do you still tip? When you go for your coffee everyday or weekly so you still leave a tip in the cafe? The problem of course is ,if you are a expat and you go to the same Caffe or bar must times and you don't tip then what's the service going to be like? Is that a problem? What about great eateries such as Cheap Charlie's do they expect a tip? ? Who wouldn't you tip that others do? For example if you have the delivery guy over bringing food you tip him? Furniture removals? Cleaners? Barber? Massage? Lazada delivery? Mechanic Phone repair? Grab/bolt driver ? Do you tip far less now your an expat in Asia rather than a tourist? Who either as a tourist or a expat doesn't tip and the reasons why
  12. I would imagine if would be hard to get a appointment Let me know if you get one early
  13. Is this the one on Sundays opp /near the Dr Oliver clinic?
  14. Yes , there must be a lot of second hand markets in Pattaya ,I have been meaning to go to the second hand auctions
  15. Yes for me the secondhand markets but I can't see anything entertaining walking around say the night bazaar in Pattaya with everyone selling the same thing
  16. Are markets such as the Night Bazaar in Pattaya etc still relevant? But must say I Iove secondhand markets or trash n treasure as they used to call them I love the one at Jomtien on a Sunday all the trash n treasure, shoes etc Mind you I love the soi Bukhao markets on a Friday I buy the second hand t shirts etc But let's talk about ones such as the night bazaar selling new shirts ,spin off brands etc I have to haggle with what they look like Burmese or Nepalese ? Most of this you can cheaper off Lazada and Temu can you not? And the trouble of haggling ,how much is this t shirt than I can buy in Kmart back home possible cheaper It's ok I guess if you need something right now AND you can manage to haggle it down Let's face how do you haggle ? Are you a good haggler at markets? Are markets dying out ?
  17. Obviously....... I have visited a dentist in my home country with my affected tooth
  18. Yes ! I'm thinking a big hospital like BKK Pattaya would have that along with a X ray machine....maybe it's possible that some of the smaller clinics don't have that not even a X ray And I really don't want a dental clinic who has to call in a sub contractor root canal specialist to visit on certain days
  19. Well according to that dental clinic I emailed there Root canal specialist is in every Saturday . I'm thinking maybe this guy travels/visits to all Pattaya Dental clinics like a sub contractor? So what I need is a full time Root canal specialist I'm thinking Bangkok Pattaya hospital may have full time staff Can they get it all done in one day ? Is that possible?
  20. Yes I had a bad experience a few years ago in South Pattaya. One of those with Smile in their name, broke one of my tooth cleaning it and then offered to fix it for a fee , I had to wait to get back to Australia to fix his damage ,he was dressed as a ladyboy
  21. Your absolutely right 3 visits in 7-10 days according to their email .but ..I just emailed their surgery and the Root canal specialist is there only on a Saturday which isnt any good for me ! I may email or call the Bangkok Pattaya hospital, being a big company they charge more BUT they may get it done quicker because they will have the machines and technology AND staff ... that small dentist don't have , is a hospital dental department better than say some dentist surgery? I don't know who to go to actually I'm confused, there's that many dentist in Pattaya
  22. Love your post You are a realist and respect to you 🙏
  23. So according to their email, they charge an extra 5k for prep /labour Yes I don't think I will pay more than 30k It's just I have no idea of what sort of Crown I require Anyone know anything about Crowns can advise me? It's a upper right tooth molar in the middle of the jaw so it's a big tooth
