Often we talk about when is leaving it too old to go live in Asia/Thailand But today I want to talk about the opposite ! When is it too young to leave your place in farangland to go live in Thailand ??? I came across a YouTube channel, I think it was called " native farang" It was a young 24yo Thai guy who speaks with a pommy accent and his white wife and 2 British born kids who migrated to his birthplace of Isaan to run a farm just recently and they are youtubjng their life Rundown farm hoping to make money and a life ,the white wife looks bored Now I'm thinking if that was my son or daughter at that age I would happy he / they are wasting their life ? Absolutely ridiculous at that age to move there , obviously they won't last there , I can assure you that this generation of young ones seems to have no planning for the future, my parents stayed in jobs 30/40 years and I bet some of you have too. I even see this in Pattaya meet some young farang guy 25yo or whatever looking to stay in Pattaya because he met some this girl, when the novelty has worn off a few years he will go back to his home farangland country with the arse out of his pants When is too young to leave farangland, and if it was your son or daughter at that age would you talk them out of it ? these young ones are in the prime of their life ,save that money ,work hard ,build up a bank account before moving !!!

Being a loner in retirement
georgegeorgia replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Years ago I met a farang from the UK in a cafe bookshop in Pattaya who told me he paid extra to live in a "serviced apartments" so if he died they would find his body . I had no idea what a serviced apartments was I think they clean your room daily or something -

I was really getting into following a 65yo guy on YouTube who had recently retired to a small rented bungalow in Turtle Beach which is on a beach highway north of Phuket He lived by himself in this secluded area vlogging on the beach opposite and doing his daily art . He would vlog saying he was happy by himself blah blah , didn't need company not even a dog blah blah, and went into Phuket once a month etc. Well I was proud of him and subscribed only to hear him in his latest vlog say that he paid a "cleaner " 200 baht a day to come in 3 times a week to clean up and chat to him for 4 hours , I was disappointed,I thought he was sitting independently type Nope seems he needs to pay for a chat He then went into say that absolutely no body ...no one can be by themselves constantly Is that true with you Who here lives by themselves

I can still buy a condo in Pattaya for less than a million baht ,try doing that in Cebu Why prices are higher in the Philippines I have no idea , Look I didn't find these people seemed happy people and I went all around the Philippines including the areas where that say you shouldn't go such as Mindanao, strangely those areas were the most friendly people and they were Muslim Some of the Filipino look different some look like Thai and some look like Hawaiian Pacific islander look Some are aggressive type and some can be friendly They have short fuses I noticed even in my workplace I have Filipinos the same screeching out Bossy bitches

Rental and sales prices are much higher than Thailand. Google condo prices in Cebu vs Pattaya you will be shocked at the high rents in the Philippines!! Even sales prices for a studio are 3 X the price in the Philippines compared to Thailand!!! I was looking at buying in 21sqm condo in Aveno apartment in Davao City , triple the price of Thailand People seemed to be more nasty with scowls on their faces when I was in the Philippines last year , They all seemed to have a chip on their shoulders against foreigners scowls and pushing in ,peeing openly on the streets in front of you , rubbish everywhere in Cebu I was there last June walking at night up near the casino only to see rubbish wire concrete etc laying on the sidewalk I immediately email the mayor's office to complain !!!! Of course there is a area in Manila that looks like New York City and that was nice but was different in General Santos City a more country city they seemed more nicer and Davao City bit yes overall I think Thailand wins heads down , as for english speaking who cares ,the Filipinos don't want to speak to you anyway they are arrogant

Possibly, I was there last year ,and the "girls" were mostly of senior citizen age it seems that I saw standing outside the Go Go bars A lot of Koreans in Angeles City, living there and running businesses "Korean town " they had and was large scale in AC It looked like Pattaya Walking street but not as clean and I didn't feel safe even though no one bothered me The foreigners there though seemed to be much older age than Pattaya ,I didn't see any young tattooed foreign guys they all seemed older age foreigners or as Filipinos call us "Afam" apparently? I didn't enjoy Angeles City but for retirement I would choose somewhere like Davao City the safest city in the Philippines Dumaguete or Palawan are great for quiet life Many like Cebu but I found the traffic horrendous constant horn blowing , drove me insane beep beep beep constantly, why ???? Beep beep Finally I had enough and one morning 3am walking noticed a car beep for no reason and asked him why ....as I shouted in his window...beep..F..n ...beep

I truly believe that the farang entrepreneurs will go to Dumaguete

I'm surprised considering all the farang who need one in Pattaya. May be better lowering your price to 25k considering a pawnbrokers may offer you 10
-
True ! Easier to find ladies in the Philippines who don't ask " how much you pay me !!!!! as their first question
-
No idea what your post is about or who Warren Rodwall is But I will say I'm Australian and stayed in the Mindanao area and enjoyed it , particularly General Santos City

It depends on your lifestyle. I don't drink or smoke You can get women from the apps tinder etc or beach for short time company Drinking in bars "every night" is a no no , if you do go in happy hour You can go to bookshop cafes for cheap coffee and farang company if you need it My lifestyle is gym , YouTube , forums ,walking I bought my food from the markets mostly ,chicken , veggies and occasionally sweets, I either cooked at home or bought from street stalls chicken ,fish etc or cheap Charlie's occasionally Normal massage 3 times a week I didn't go to Go Go bars or Starbucks I paid 15k rent fully furnished studio with big pool and great gym fully equipped I either walked or used baht bus ,no motorbike taxi I bought my clothes, shoes at soi bukhao markets on Fridays So having lived in Pattaya I didn't exceed 50k for several months and that included rent

When I think of Bali I think of tattooed singlet wearing young Aussie bogans ????
-
That's true ???? And different areas , different strokes From congested Cities to island paradises to sleepy villages Davao City ,Angeles City, Duamagette,Cebu , Boracay seem to be the most foreigner Philippines is changing a lot now with this current generation, I wish they would get more "modern" and update their public transport in Manila I like Davao City , and Dumaguete however
-
You may be better off selling on bahtsold however because pawnbrokers won't give you much. You could get about 40k for that I imagine minimum
-
They are on third road ,a ton of pawnbrokers, up near soi chaiyapoon
-
What are you looking for ? If your into girlie bars then Angeles City about 3 hours north of Manila by bus If your into expat quiet area Duamagette is the next upcoming city for foreigners So many YouTubers promoting Duamagette now Won't be long before the farang entrepreneurs move in with businesses
-
I wonder if a similar store would do good nowadays, I guess you can order everything online now
-
That was another one that was for sale last time I heard , didn't it have a gay owner at one stage ?
-
Yes I recall that Cherm Chim Had a lot of owners if I recall right

Just yesterday talking to a old expat about this. It was back in 2015/16, I was chatting to middle aged 50ish farang in a cafe near Tukcom in Pattaya, he was gay and living with his boyfriend over the road in Central Condo He mentioned about the Rugby union game on that night ,I think it was NZ all blacks playing and he was excited . The next day I went to the cafe where the farang owner told me that guy had jumped off his balcony after losing on betting on the game. Rumours it was his life savings of $40,ooo to $50,000, he lost !!! However in the cafe he was so adamant his team would win ,he didn't mention betting to me though I remember it making the Pattaya newspaper at the time Just lost his money on the online gambling account he had and he just must of just become "sick " and jumped !!
