I often wonder should we be reading more books whilst we are retired filling days with books or bars ? And please do comment if you are on the Australian aged pension on the nearly 40k per month and still go to bars and the reason maybe ? What do you perhaps do there ? I remember the Pattaya bowling club and who doesn't where the western atmosphere if I may quote that description was prevalent but with the low pricing on meals and drinks, that's all gone and what's left ? Bars that only want tourists Oh please Think of this ,think of this If a Australian can live in his aged pension in Australia why can't he not live in Pattaya? Food for thought right ,yes never thought of that did you

I'm very interested and please forgive me for not doing a study or a project on this but I just thought of the project idea today a few days AFTER I came back from my study tour of Thailand I read the Australian aged pension is like 40,000 baht a month or near And some of you UK also around the same , please may I ask how your lifestyle is on this amount I did see a few old farangs in Sizzlers in Pattaya secretly filling up their containers in bags next to them with good BUT may I ask for those of you ,does anyone here in PATTAYA live on that amount quite comfortable Now please if you do ,do you forego the pleasures in life ,cheese ,wine and song or is wine women and song to achieve the budget of your aged pension What about the 99b breakfast living in 40k per month It always fascinated me seeing bars in Soi Bukhao such as those Sports Bars full ,do expats go to those and pay often WESTERN prices or are they tourists in those places I remember going to what looked like a open no air con expats sports bar in Jomtien opp the 711 only to see miserable old people inside

Got back into Australia Sunday and was at work by 10pm that night I walked around my workplace that night smiling that I was back , waving to people who I didn't even know I saw an African contract security guard his white teeth glistening in the dark with a wide smile as I shouted "it's good to be back " !! Of course I had never seen him before so he didn't have a clue what I was on about but he smiled neverless But my point is , this week back in Australia I will have a "routine " something I didn't have in Thailand the last 5 weeks ,my work hours , sleep, all made into a routine And thus that's where my study tour found......or should we say the "negative" of expats life What was the fault ? NO ROUTINE A Success in a expats life particularly living in PATTAYA of all places is ROUTINE What happens without ROUTINE You end up in a bar at 9am talking to Bob ,Reg ,Charlie drinking your problem away You have all seen the bored expat particularly in Pattaya and dare I say now.... CAMBODIA Alcoholics because they lost their routine Many went from routine in their Western country to nuthin Many regret their decisions to move to Asia ,to Cambodia to Pattaya Their life has no ....and please join me in saying this .....one two three .....their life has NO ROUTINE!!!

It's all roses in retirement in Pattaya by yourself until you realise this will be your day to day life for the next 15-20 years or so But whilst I'm talking of examples of guys in their 60's ,I must not ignore the YOUNGER ones who gave up good careers I noted in my diary talking to a 38yo UK farang in Canterbury tales bookshop who was going to give his career away as a train driver to "retire" to Pattaya to be with a girl That's even more silly than say a 60yo I managed to talk him out of it I took his WhatsApp number and kept sending him messages and those GIF things I asked him to put it on his video call so I could actually see he was back in the UK driving the train

Yes thanks SF I have to call these matters out as these are the things we should as social engineering study I believe the farangs committed suicide may have become disillusioned with retirement Lonely sad depressed cooped up in a room in Pattaya, many sold their houses in their home country, gave away their jobs , Then one day after 5 months or even 14 months and say to themselves What the hell did I do ?
