Srettha Tipped To Run Country At Least Throughout This Year: NIDA Poll
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The National Institute of Development Administration was formerly a "government agency" that has evolved to become affiliation of the Ministry of Higher Education. https://nida.ac.th What some might consider still a "government agency." it seems to rely on very small survey samples, ie., typically less than 2,000 polled and doesn't detail how such sample criteria was decided. That said, relevant to the subject recent poll NIDA seems perplexing considering its previous poll taken in August 2023 on a survey on "Pheu Thai Party's troubles" from 1,310 sample units. People aged 18 years and over, distributed "everywhere," including level of education, occupation and income. Again no specifics in the resulting sample to which can establish a degree of error. In fact from my reading many of NIDA surveys over a 10 year period, no degree of error is ever mentioned. In its findings (rounded): https://en.ryt9.com/s/iq02/3446470 40% never voted for PTP, Thai Rak Thai Party, or People's Power Party 39% indicated from the PTP Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra as a suitable person to be PM, followed by 36% for Mr. Srettha, 8% for Mr. Chakasem Nitisiri with 16% didn't know/didn't answer/not interested. -

Exemptions under the new tax laws?
Srikcir replied to Presnock's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
According to BOI at Chumchuri square18th Floor 254 Phaya Thai Rd, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330 (Sam Yan MRT Station) that obtained a Royal Proclamation to tax exempt three of the four options (one being wealthy pensioner) qualifying for the LTR visa. -
It does but not directly at the pump. US spends $20.5 billion annually of which 80% goes to oil and gas in the form of tax deductions and exemptions. Direct subsidies go to fossil fuel exploration, extraction and development. Indirectly, the US spends $81 billion annually through its military to protect oil supplies worldwide.

Government accused by Move Forward of fiddling calculation of GDP
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Inflation rate is not a component of Gross Domestic Product by definition. GDP is the sum of all money spent by consumers, businesses and the government in a given period. The rate of GDP growth or decline can be affected by rate of inflation/deflation but the rate itself is not a component of GDP. Regardless, I've not seen by either the MFP nor the government any analysis publically put forth by a qualified and experienced economist who would be seen as non-political. That's not to say either doesn't have access to such professionals, but not citing such professional sources is suspect more to wishful thinking than to academic accuracy. For 2024 the World Bank is projecting 3.2% providing there is a recovery in tourism (in whatever form?), increase in export of goods & services value (currently weak) and sustained private consumption (currently weak). Frankly, tourism is easier to affect than other components of GDP but it's also the least contributing value (aka "low hanging fruit"). And as we've seen foreign tourism most affected by foreign events outside of Thailand's influence or control. -

No and Germany's engine export limitations were already known PRIOR to Thailand's purchase. But for some reason Thailand expected Germany to breach the export ban and allow export of the engines. Thailand does not have the technical ability to manufacture its own submarines.

There are many more serious political issues facing the country that directly affect millions of Thais. Constitutional crisis, unelected Senate, a minority-elected government, continued government subservience to the military, economic mis-steps, income inequality, etc. Makes me wonder about the legitimacy of these "activists" as to whom they really represent.

ICE can't recharge its fuel, ICE requires more energy for its transmission system, more engine replacement parts, alternator, etc.

For some e-marketing platforms it is SOP for carrier to call contact no. to confirm someone present for receipt, especially for COD or where a controlled community requires a stamped receipt. Which leaves me to wonder where is this tourist staying and how are deliveries handled.

US citizen, better to marry Thai in US or in Thailand (registered)?
Srikcir replied to JTXR's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Off topic but US election year propaganda vs truth. Though the economy occasionally sputtered in 2022, it has certainly been resilient — and now, in the last month of 2023, the U.S. is still not currently in a recession, according to a traditional definition.Dec 13, 2566 BE https://www.nerdwallet.com › article Are We in a Recession? - NerdWallet We don't expect a recession in 2024. Opposition must not link budget debate to Thaksin : Pheu Thai

No state prosecutes juveniles as adults on felony charges more than Florida, where 4446 children have been charged over the past five years. Nearly 2,00,000 children are tried in adult criminal courts in the United States each year and held in adult prisons. The United States’ criminal justice system allows prosecutors to charge minors with grave penalties without taking into account their age and adolescence. In the United States the age varies between states, being as low as 6 years in North Carolina and as high as 12 years in California, Massachusetts, and Utah, at least for most crimes; 11 years is the minimum age for federal crimes.

PM says government not bound by 20-year national strategy
Srikcir replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
The new government elected in part largely to compromises with an unelected Senate 100% appointed by Prayut's junta that no significant challenges will be made to the military's agenda won't be doing face slaps to the military establishment. Political posturing yes. PS: Google Prayut's current employer. -

Statistically "low hanging fruit." A minimum target of 30% and an upper target of 60% would be a significant goal. So the 5% seems more of a "check the government success box" for re-election. -
