The government migh also use one or more of Thai travel insurance companies for travel claims processing in lieu of the government, avoiding the government to expand its services having no previous experience and costs of administration. In practice the government might use its 50 million baht budget to bulk purchase the travel insurance, ie., from a Thai travel insurance coalition thst CA provide the highest amount of coverage for the least cost. That then benefits Thai travel insurance providers and the Thai government.

So confirmed by an unelected Senate put in place by the Prayut NCPO military coup leadership. Suspiciously undemocratic? -
Supreme Court asked to probe convicted Thaksin’s privileges

A Supreme Court that ruled Gen. Prayut's 2014 military coup and national directives issued through absolute power was legal? -
It seems to me that all we've heard is intent to pass the law taxing foreign income brought into Thailand by Thai citizens and resident foreigners effective Jan. 1, 2024. But I don't recall the bill going to the House of Parliament for even its first reading for a vote, much less a second reading/debate that would follow if amendments or objection is raised. And all that assumes a quorem. Even after House passage mustn't there be approval by the Senate and publication in the Royal Gazette? At this late date, it would be reasonable to defer this bill until 2025.

It wasn't a balance by former PM Prayut who sided with China's rejection to the judgment by an international tribunal in The Hague permanent court of arbitration that in the South China Sea (July 2016, theguardian.com ) rocky outcrops claimed by China - some of which are exposed only at low tide – cannot be used as the basis of territorial claims. some of the waters were “within the exclusive economic zone of the Philippines, because those areas are not overlapped by any possible entitlement of China”. China had violated the Philippines’ sovereign rights in those waters by interfering with its fishing and petroleum exploration and by constructing artificial islands. Does Srettha support Prayut's decision while he campaigns Pacific rim nations like Japan for closer trade relations? What is Srettha's position regarding the Kuril Islands dispute between Japan and Russia over the ownership of the four southernmost Kuril Islands? His warning is about as poignant as warning of climate change and increasing air pollution in Thailand.

Thailand tackles household debt crisis: doubts over effectiveness
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
"Inequality fuelling the fire for Thailand’s political change" 11 July 2023 eastasiaforum.otg Author: Thorn Pitidol, Thammasat University "Thailand is going through one of the most significant moments in its recent history. After nine years under military rule, the coalition of political parties opposing the military-backed government achieved a substantial victory in the national election, winning 313 out of 500 seats. The election result signifies an overwhelming rejection of military influence and the general-turned-prime minister Prayuth Chan-ocha." Well, except the referenced coalition did not succeed to take over the government because the military appointed Senate refused. Some editorial gems from the article point to likely quick failure or as a minimum lack of practical LONG-TERM solutions that require a progressive, liberal government rejected by the Senate: "Thailand’s level of inequality has long been one of the highest in Southeast Asia. The problem is rooted in policies and institutions that existed before the Prayuth government. "From 2013–2019, the Thai economy grew only 3 per cent on average, making Thailand’s growth rate one of the lowest in Southeast Asia. The slower growth has set limitations on upward mobility, leading to a lack of optimism among the younger Thai generations." Add to this Thailand's historical long-term inadequacy for high quality education and technical training of the low to middle classes. But "Garbage In and Garbage Out" seems the immediate future. Thailand has not become the Hub of ASEAN but rather a dented rim. -
Omega seamaster 300 watch clean Polish and service
Srikcir replied to pod8460's topic in General Topics
Is he authorized by Omega to do anything with the watch other maybe install a new battery? I see nothing as such on the business card. Thus likely the very low cost for servicing. Just a quick Google: OMEGA Boutique King Power Pattaya Complex 8 Moo 9, Sukhumvit Road, Nong Prua, Bang Lamoong, Chonburi 20150 Pattaya Thailand T. +66 1631, 038 103 888 Maybe Swatch Terminal 21 Pattaya. -
Maybe, but any purchase via internet is potential financial exposure, hence the bargain prices. Using the Wallet the the extent of exposure is your wallet balance. Top-off is tied to limits you set for your internet daily purchase limit and to your authorizing mobile phone number.

New LED street lights brighten up Hua Hin’s Soi 112
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
"Moreover, the use of LED technology aligns with the municipality’s commitment to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability." Agreed. But it appears powered by an electric grid powered by fossil fuel. LED is easily powered by solar energy and more supportive towards a clean environment. -
Crying need for holistic development to make Bangkok liveable
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Particularly since the 2014 military coup, the government has built more bridges into Bangkok, more transportation means into Bangkok, more highways, more shopping malls, more high-rise condos but maybe a park or two. Bangkok needs to be decentralized commercially and governmentally by shifting to further outlying areas. But I believe it's "city planning" has been more about strengthening presence of political-allied enterprises and government offices to maintain Bangkok as political powerhouse than as an environmental safe-haven for human habitat. -
Time to move on and use the Lazada Wallet. Refunds are automatic and you can give any special instruction on leaving the order without your presence. For about 7 years I used COD, a pain to stay home for delivery sometime in the day and have exact change; now use the wallet.

I do not respect elitism and throw back to class discrimination. It's origin stems from a 1600's absolute monarchy supported by hi-so society class and has no place in a modern democracy where everyone is equal.

Why Chinese tourists snub Thailand: New favourites revealed
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand's faultering economy has been a self-inflicted wound. Thailand exports of goods and services (G&S) in % of GDP in 2012 was about 69%. 2013 was marred by massive street anti-democratic (demand unconstitutional change in government by other than election) protests aimed at regime change through disruption/shutdown of many government functions to somewhat lower G&S to about 67%. Following the May 2014 military coup GDP for G&S rose to about 68%, likely due to pro-military Street protests to back off their disruption of government functions. Then the junta apparently redirected the Thai economy focused more on Chinese tourism, causing (perhaps impacted by the Covid pandemic) by a steep decline by 2020 GDP for G&S to about 21%. https://wits.worldbank.org Exports of G&S in 2022 was about 66%. By 2023Q3 fell 0.23%. In any case no recovery to the 2012 level with substantial increase in public debt. Compare now the new 2023 government's economic priorities: tourism, more debt and long-term infrastructure. The government needs more GDP innovation and action in the G&S sectors. Such needs may not agree with China. -
You're not talking about some Mom and Pop kitchen operation. There must be some major production facilities producing these tablets. Read "Drug traffickers smuggling crystal meth past South East Asia security - UN", June 2023 https://www.bbc.com Included is yaba. If Mynamar is a major production point, it would seem the military junta government shouldn't have much difficulty identifying and suppressing such production being trafficking to ASEAN countries where the street value can be 10 times higher in Bangkok. Yet what we hear is the efforts of Thailand and China to suppress meth distribution. What is Mynamar doing? Self funding?

How can this be given PM Prayut's twelve core values published in 2017 that included: 3. Being grateful to the parents, guardians and teachers 4. Seeking knowledge and education directly and indirectly 12. Putting the public and national interest before personal interest. Surely a formula for complying citizens.

Thai rice purity at risk due to popularity of foreign strains
Srikcir replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good question. Jasmine used to be a world favorite. https://link.gov.vn/Sr04VXua Vietnam's Ong Cua ST25 rice has won the first prize at the World's Best Rice 2023 competition, within the framework of the 2023 International World Rice Conference Summit in Cebu, Philippines. This is the second time Vietnam has won the contest’s top award. Previously, the Ong Cua ST25 rice won the World’s Best Rice Contest in the Philippines in 2019 and took the second place at the World’s Best Rice Contest 2020 held in the US. -
The US is a major exporter of energy with several other nonOPEC nations that helped EU cut energy purchases from Russia. Russia in turn offered 20% price discounts for its oil payable in rubles as a way around the Western sanctions against the ruble. Some countries like India, China and Thailand fell for the Russian energy bait. As far as making things worse after the covid pandemic, POTUS asked OPEC to cut supply that would raise fuel prices to help US oil companies profit margins.

That is actually a good sign. OPEC was trying to boost prices to benefit some of its members financially who are experiencing declining GDP such as Russia and blackmail pro-Israel countries to force Israel from seized lands. The energy producing nonmembers such as energy independent US have at least in the short term neutralized OPEC.
