All you can eat/drink hotel buffet recommendations.
TheAppletons replied to bamboozled's topic in Chiang Mai
I like the breakfast buffet at the Shangri-La hotel. 650 THB (does not include alcohol.) Pretty good variety, very nice atmosphere, reasonably "affordable luxury". -

Regarding the extendable E visa (not to be confused with e-Visa), when I go to the official Cambodian government website, I can apply for Visa T $36 (tourist only) or Visa E $42. Is your post meant to imply that the Visa E above cannot be extended as a "retirement visa" because you apply for it online? https://www.evisa.gov.kh/application_new

ATM fees for foreign Cards -
TheAppletons replied to kwilco's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I have a Charles Schwab account that reimburses all ATM fees as well as a Navy Federal Credit Union account that does the same. The NFCU account is limited to $20/billing cycle; the Schwab account is unlimited. -
Bangkok Bank in CNX today.
TheAppletons replied to sqwakvfr's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
It doesn't have to be your bank? I realize it doesn't need to be a particular branch of say, Bangkok Bank, but I was not aware I could deposit cash at an SCB cash deposit machine and have it appear in my BBL account. Huh. -

Pre-paid Travel cards in Thailand To Use in USA?
TheAppletons replied to RxDan's topic in Chiang Mai
Theoretically speaking, if there was a bar nearby - with theoretical bar girls in said theoretical bar - one could theoretically pay one of them a couple of hundred baht to go buy the SIM card for you. -
He's way ahead of you, he used that line again in the same speech: "That's the truth, now don't make a lie,' he continued. 'As that scene in the John Wayne movie, don't make me a dog-faced lying pony soldier.' He had previously deployed a similar line at a 2020 campaign event in New Hampshire - a bizarre moment that went viral. He then told the group 'God save the queen,' before heading offstage to take pictures with participants." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12203923/Babbling-Biden-tells-Connecticut-crowd-God-save-queen-man.html

Mexico v Thailand
TheAppletons replied to bradiston's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
I could easily enjoy the rest of my days living in Cabo San Lucas......and may do just that. The main drawback is that it has become subject to quite a bit of "Californication" which is one of the main reasons I left the US in the first place. -

Nat Hix passed away last December. Nat was a true gentleman, a former FBI employee, a cigar aficionado, and was involved in some regard with the CM Gate Theater group (kinda fuzzy on that one.) One of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet with a terrific sense of humor, so sorry to see him leave us.
